I only collect vintage Polly pockets and monster high dolls. I love monster high! When they first came out the boxes were iconic! I never seen something so cool! I was 15 at the time and I thought I was to old for dolls years later I found myself loving them because it’s okay to be 27 and still like kid stuff! 🖤

I love doll collecting because I feel like someone is listening and I have someone to talk to. I had dolls as a kid but my dad took them away and me and my sisters were so sad. I don’t want that to happen again. Dolls are a big part of my life l can’t let them go from my life I love them so much.

This was really good to hear. I am in my late 50's and loved dolls as a child. I kept what i had until i left home at 19, when i gave them to my oldest niece. I only kept my Baby Crissy (she's sitting across the room now). Years passed and when the Christmas after i had my daughter, I was in Wal-Mart and thought "I have a little girl, let's see go to the doll aisle." I got her a Sugar Plum Fairy Barbie. That was 1996. I've collected off and on since then. Over the years, I have gotten many other brands of dolls and some other collectibles. It was nice hearing how others feel about their dolls. I guess it makes me feel less "odd."

Great positive content :) One of my favorite things abt collecting is how connected i feel to my grandma because she bought me dolls when i was younger and collected some herself. I wish she was here to talk about dolls with me still but looking at the ones she bought me helps me keep her memory around.

I been feeling negative about the hobby myself due to all the drama and constant harrassment + prices going up and things like this help remind me why i begin really like it in the first place Ps i relate to the person saying dolls inspire them as an artist, monster high has inspired me with my art by thinking of different monsters from horror media i love that i can make into a monster high character-its honestly so fun and makes me feel like a kid again when all i drew were “cringy” sonic.exe fanart and just had fun , i love really looking for clothing inspirations for my characters

I sat down with my coffee and my knitting project with my dolls and played this video lol i enjoy the just talking vids, appreciate hearing people’s thoughts and your feelings on them! 😊 i started collecting with monster high g3- because i love the creepy-cute aesthetic and if i had been allowed to have dolls growing up as a “boy” i would have been obsessed with them. Plus like- the g3 show is so amazing, like i would be so different today if i could see a cartoon as a kid where characters are non-binary and queer and are respected for being who they are

I’ve always been a big collector, and I was obsessed with MH and American girls dolls growing up to the point where I would make stop motion videos of them lol. I did that from elementary school to about 6th or 7th grade, when a guy who bullied me discovered my hobby. Him and his friends would cyber/verbally bully me over it so I forced myself to grow out of it and never allow myself to enjoy it. I’m now about to graduate high school, and have a extremely supportive group of friends so I’ve since allowed myself to indulge in collecting monster high/ever after high (not that much into AG anymore) since g3 was first announced. When I got my first grail doll Holt Hyde (whom I’d been wanting since I was 13) I felt so much joy and excitement and wondered why I ever left this hobby in the first place!

I collect dolls because I like them but also because I love buying second hand dolls and restoring them, it's something I've always really enjoyed doing and that gives me great satisfaction. Great Video! I loved to hear the reasons why so many doll collectors got their love for collecting. I’ve been collecting dolls for about 6 years now, I love Pokémon as well so that was the only collectible that I had growing up… since I was a kid I was just really interested in dolls but being a kid I wasn’t able to play with dolls so I didn’t ask for any doll and I focus only on cartoons but now that I have a job and have extra income I can manage to buy some gorgeous dolls for myself 🎉❤🎉.

You're one of my favorite doll KZbinrs, I can relate on so many levels to you. I find it hard to get out of my bubble (I am well into my 30's and only hang out with my husband, I do acknowledge I need to make friends, it's just hard as an adult and with the way the Internet has gone, it's even hard here now). I feel like the YT doll community seems to be the most wholesome and friendly community so far (Reddit is scary haha). I don't have any online friends yet, but it is nice to just be around the good vibes.

Growing up, my twin sister and I both loved dolls. We had a bunch of Barbie's, generic American girl type dolls, groovy girls, and a ton of Polly Pockets. Whenever I get a new doll, I remember playing with my sister, and even today we both love dolls, but we're into different things! I'm a collector, I love LOL and Rainbow High dolls, I like to pose them, dress them, and take pictures. My sister is more into customizing dolls to make completely new Characters.

I liked this upbeat video. I related to the comment about owning a doll house when we can’t afford to be in the housing market. It sounds weird but true! I have a large Victorian doll house full of miniatures. I love looking into the rooms and imagining what it would be like to live in that time and to have so many rooms. The miniatures are so cute to look at. Also I work in a dental office and I totally understand your wanting to have a tiny doll or stuffy in your pocket for comfort. We had a patient do this. I hope your appointment went well. ☺️👍

It is not boring! You have a lovely way of presenting. I could go on at length about why I love doll collecting but I will restrict myself to one recent story. I was in a little car accident. No one was hurt but my car had to go in to be repaired and I had to drive a different rental car. I am an extremely fearful driver at the best of times but live in a forest and so have to drive in order to get food or visit my husband in the city. To get used to driving the rental car I decided to drive to a Costco that is quite far from the house and requires driving on the highway. I figured if I could accomplish this driving to the city would be less intimidating. There is a Toys R Us not far from the Costco so as an incentive I decided to allow myself to purchase a Pixling or two if they had the ones I am missing. I made iit to the store without too much anxiety. They did not have Marena or Deerlee, the Pixlings I am missing. That was disappointing but I thought, :"Well, no harm just glancing at the Monster High section I suppose." Imagine my delight and astonishment when there, gazing calmly back at me, was a single Ghoulia Yelps Creeproduction doll! Talk about being rewarded by the Universe! There she stood in magnificent solitude just for me. There was not a single Creeproduction except her in sight. Almost tearful with gratitude, this particular Ghoulia was the one that really sold me on Monster HIgh, I courageously drove onward to Walmart and MIRACLE found both Deerlee and Marena at a significantly lesser price than I would have paid at Toys R Us. I too believe dolls are works of art but beyond that they have a sort of magical life of their own as well. Definitely they have access to dimensions of Being beyond what is generally felt by us mere mortals.

Honestly i started collecting as it helped me go though a really bad breakup, massive issues with school/jobs and feeling lonely due to not having many friends , it got my mind off all of that n encourged me to go outside more often I actually started collecting squishmallows only (cus their great for stimming) but then somehow started to get recommanded some doll channels n begin to gain a bigger interest in dolls Espically when i learned how to costimuize them, my autistic mind l o s t it when i realised i can make a doll of scp-076 and mouse.avi that was the most epic moment in my life, it was espically fun with mouse.avi since i needed to figure out how to translate mickeys 1920s face onto a monster high styled doll

I saw your question on Instagram but couldn't answer it because it's too hard to explain. I explain it like this: dolls make me inexplicably happy I was fascinated by Monster High stories when I accidentally came across doll reviews on KZbin. Not much time passed and I already knew all the biographies by heart and was fascinated by the designs, but I could never give myself the opportunity to buy a doll, because collecting in our family (my mother thinks) is explicitly unproductive. That is, we collect materials for creativity, and this is normal, although sometimes it seems that it turns into hoarding, but dolls, in my (mother's) vision, were something obviously unnecessary. I still think so, but at a healthier level, so I'm building my collection little by little. Although I still feel guilty after buying new dolls, because "I could use this money for something else more important" and with such money you should buy something that will not "just stand on the shelf" And I started collecting not because of dolls at all, but because of my obsession with Fluorescent things. Glow-in-the-Dark stuff makes me incredibly happy, and it's usually found in my life in the form of cheap figurines that are meant to decorate the walls of a nursery, or in the form of stickers that I can rarely just miss at the store. Fluorescent things are one of those situations where I give myself a free pass if the price of the trinket doesn't push my budget. And when I learned that there are dolls that glow in the dark, I just couldn't pass them by. I tried for a long time and so missed the first offer to buy, but then I dared to write a message in a group of doll lovers about which dolls I was looking for, and decided that if there were offers, I would be more inclined to accept them. Bratzillaz Midnight Beach Meygana was my first doll (not a fake), and my first independent online purchase, even with my own money. And she made me incredibly happy. Don't tell all my other dolls, but she is still my favorite. I remember times when the lights were off in my dorm and I could hear the noise of fighting in the hallways and I'm afraid of the dark, so I just sat in the corner of the room and looked at the glowing doll and calmed down that way. I now have 5 out of 6 Bratzillaz Midnight Beach dolls, and while I absolutely love all the Monster Highs that live in my house, I still get that incomparable spark of joy that comes as soon as I turn off the lights in my room and see that the Midnight girls are still there, and glowing, and won't go anywhere, guarding my sleep. I even painted Bonita's and Luna Mothews' wings with glow-in-the-dark nail polish so that I could get the same joy from them. I talked myself into buying my second doll in the collection - Bonita - a year after Meygana just because I could customize her wings after So, I like to be happy and joyful, and dolls give me that. I like messing with them, making clothes for them, or looking at their uniqueness without clothes, and I also like things, and I like having things, and having conversations with them, and it's probably strange, but it's much more pleasant to talk with those things, who have a personality

Yeah instagram can be a bit limiting for complicated answers 😂 It's great to hear your thoughts though! It is so interesting how the things we hear when we are younger can stay with us for so long. I have similar thoughts about spending money on important things/things that are "worthwhile," and for me dolls are the exception to that rule. I'll hesitate for months to buy a new jacket that isn't strictly necessary, but dolls are the one thing I let myself buy just to enjoy. It's so fascinating that a love of glow in the dark objects is what led you to being interested in dolls! I think that's a very unique perspective though, and it's lovely to hear the joy and comfort your collection has brought you ♥

I didnt have dolls, i was born a boy sadly, even as an older teen when i loved MH and EAH i bought them as "gifts" for my younger sister. It helps that she likes the lore/characters. I recently got into axtually collecting as an adult, it helps that Shadow High dropped and their looks were so unique to me. And then MH came back and now i have a bunch only a year later. I mostly collect boy dolls because im gay and like boys lol, but also love the underappreciated dolls. I like to match up my dolls to the books i read, so thats also fun.
