Could you use a sand filter/pump setup for this and just have the water go back into the pool?
@SPL Жыл бұрын
You could attache a small sand filter if you like.

I was glad that I found the exact product for my pool. However, the product picture at the manufacture's website discouraged me. My pool has thousands of live oak acorns at the bottom, the small fitting throat will be choked right away, I am afraid. I need the sucking object diameter comparable to a Shop Vac. Any suggestions?

I would like to know where i can find those hose connectors with the plactic nut, as well as the white threaded pvc adapters?
@SPL Жыл бұрын
Not sure as they come with the pump. Maybe give Advantage a call and they can send you a set.

I have a 220v pump i'd like to convert to plug in. Is that possible? The goal is to make my own portable vacuum system
@SPL27 күн бұрын
It will not work. It has to be a 110V (115V) pump. So 1 hp or less. Advantage modifies their 1.5 hp pump by using a smaller impeller reducing the amps.

Yeah, it’s very cool

Hi from UK. I'm looking to build similar portable pump for my pool as the regular one use the sand filter and get's clogged very quickly due to dirty pool and so want to build a portable clean-up pump like that of yours with a cartridge filter. My pool is 1.7mtr in depth at one end. so was wondering what should I look into the water pump to do the job. I mean 1.5HP would be good, what else I should look into the pump before buying it. Thanks for your help.

Not sure if your electricity is limited like in the States over here. In most cases, a 1 hp pump can be plugged into 115v. A 1.5 hp cannot. This one in the video has a modified voltage. I suggest a 1 hp and make sure it is self priming. Also a check valve on front or a simple ball valve makes priming easy.

I have similar set up but the suction is really high and it makes the vaccum line squished up against the pump. Any ideas on how to fix it?
@SPL Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can instal a ball valve in front and reduce some of the suction.

What’s the advantage to this? Normally when you use the original pump to vacuum the water circulates through the filter and back into the pull. Isn’t this wasting water? Serious question. Curious
@SPL Жыл бұрын
For clean up situations - green pool, lots of dirt. Most pool filters can't take high volumes of either without having to be taken apart and cleaned. Under normal pool vacuuming situations use the filter system.

I have a question dyou make any changes on the skimmer and main drain valves or you just set it up the way u did during a vacuum?
@SPL Жыл бұрын
Just set it up and vacuum. 👍

Can you use this device without water and instead a regular vacuum? I’m looking for a hand held clean up pump, preferably the most powerful one in the market

Negative. It needs water to work properly.

@T Real yup and thick algae clogs up pump basket and clogs impeller. I've stopped using this application. I'll just clean filters 2 times sometimes 3 on green to cleans and just charge accordingly. Better than emptying that tiny basket 20 times
