New ones have tested worse. Casting didn’t change and material doesn’t appear to be as good. Nissan put less than zero effort into improving it and zero care into how good they came out.

The aftermarket parts that are in all RB engines, are purist to the RB design. they're just stronger parts that are needed for reliability.

Would you avoid using nitrous to help spool a turbo quicker? I have a 2.8 with a T51R and I recently bought a basic nitrous kit to aid spool.

You can, but may use nitrous to spool then turn it off. Have to be careful around peak torque to not crush bearings. Just don’t make it too aggressive

they do it with cranks, but the main factor of strength on an RB block is all in the bores and how much material there is.

Cast iron doesn't react to heat treatment like steel does. Engines also don't get hot enough to heat-treat themselves.

@@MotiveVideo 2jz came in AWD and much cheaper for a reasonable build not blowing money to waste on a build where everything is just a remade part from billet. The video was about a stock block which will never ever do IRS level performance but the 2jz with a stock cast iron block did go on some fast IRS cars like Ekanoo's Supra. There are also a US Silvia that has the iron block pushing past 1800whp

@@MotiveVideo yes. But people with 1000+ to the tyre do. Because of your channel RBs have very well documented survivable power level when built correctly. This is a no limits car. There is no point pushing the block past a certain point, just to see when it will fail cause it will fail and its more money that way. I wouldnt put a cast RB in anything if i was at 800hp Crank hp. I dont feel its worth it.

That's exactly what I did after troubles dealing with the loser in this video, cost of sourcing, building a cast 26 block for 1000hp+ wasn't a gamble not sustainable to participate in.

@@abhirmalhotra5103 I'm not disagreeing with you, but not everyone has the money to dump 10k just on a block and 20k on a dry sump system. And up until they do they can get away with a cast block while they make the money. Only god knows how long this engine could have lasted for and the good RB26 blocks with a block brace are rated to 1200hp.
