This is actually amazing man. They not only delivered such an epic movie back in the day. BUT they managed to re-do it and make and epic part two.

Sending missile from behind to target his plane would be more practical than empirical. In research terms it's called External validity. This video has more internal validity but poor external validity

It's worth noting that pushing heavily on your margin of safety, like we see here, is what John McCain did when he got shot down. McCain was going up against Hanoi's excellent Russian surface--to-air missile batteries, attempting to bomb Hanoi's main electrical generating plant. The Naval fliers standard maneuver, when a missile alarm went off, was to flip the plane inverted, and steeply dive. That would generally make the missile miss. However, going inverted also meant you could not release your bombs (which are on the bottom of the plane). McCain was on target and had just a couple seconds before he was going to be able to release a successful hit, knocking out Hanoi's power. So he gambled, pushing margin of safety. Agree with his decision or not, that's how battles are won: by men willing to push the boundary, and take the fight right to the enemy. McCain was unquestionably a hero, and the subsequent lies and smears told about what he did that day are a disgrace.

Thank you for taking the time to explain this and write this. I respected J.M. throughout, b/c he was a POW. That in itself demonstrates grit, character, and inner-strength. What I admired about your response was your explanation of the logic used while in war, and as a pilot. ❤

You just said 'most', literally contradicting your own argument.... Being white has nothing to do with anything, that's a stupid suggestion. Being a woman in certain fields is harder, but never underestimate anyone. It's stupid to think that a woman couldn't fly a plane better than a guy.
