If you're planning on doing a trek I recommend you do some training beforehand! It's often a lot more challenging than people expect. And after all, its a holiday! So the fitter you are the more you'll enjoy it!

TIMS Permit - 2000 rupees ($20 USD)
ANCAP Entry Fee - 1000 rupees ($10 USD)
Accommodation -
This will be more expensive as you ascend in altitude. It will also depend on seasonal price fluctuations and whether or not you share the room. For me as a solo trekker in a private room/tent - roughly 250-1000 rupees per night ($5-10 USD) Total accommodation costs for me: $34 USD
Food:
This will also be more expensive as you ascend in altitude. I spent the following:
Aus Camp - Lunch & Coffee $8

I have some advice for you. Don't go in June, because that's monsoon season and it will be a pretty terrible experience. I also think that no matter what trek you're doing it's worthwhile doing some training beforehand so you're able to enjoy the experience! Finally, if you want a very short trek, look at the Poon Hill trek

If you are a SAARC national it will certainly be cheaper, not only because of the permits but in general your food and accommodation will likely be cheaper. Thanks for your comment :)

Hey dude! I'm from Sydney, never been to Nepal and love hiking. What in your opinion is the next hike to do (away from jeep roads as much as possible but trekking around others). I want to do this solo and not tied to a hike group just for fun. I've heard abc is pretty easy in terms of navigating. I want to go at the end of October into November which I heard is ideal weather wise? I was looking at the annapurna circuit but saw you didn't regard it too well considering the recent changes. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Yeah you can do ABC trek ABC and mardi trek is side by side Diff is ABC is not ridge line trek

How wet and mucky is the wet and mucky part? Don't want to get my nice hiking boots too messy. Yeah, I know, but it's a serious question.

Depending on the season, but put it this way it's not pathway all the way like Everest base camp. Your boots will get dirt but your not going to be stuck in big for days, that's the beauty of walking on a ridge it drains quickly!

I have them but also was looking to do this with a solid pair of quality runners with good tread to save space and weight?

Hey Nico, yeah I don’t think you’ll need hiking boots. I did this trek in a pair of quite old trail runners with no tread 🤣I’d also love to hear how the indigenous peoples trek was! Please contact me if you do it because if heard nothing about it

@@ChaseMountains Thanks for the quick reply man, yeah for sure I am committed to doing it, for that exact reason you stated above, I had heard literally nothing about it until a month or so ago. I have been planning a return to Nepal for over 3 years (I was there a week before the 2015 earthquake so going back has been a massive goal for me) but my plan was to head to the Annapurna Circuit, but as I thought more about why I am drawn back to Nepal I realised it was the people that left such an impact on me. So I am giving up the personal milestones etc of the big named treks and going to the interior for the IP trek instead. There is literally fk all info about it anywhere, a few vids on YT, but for context they have about 100ish people each year, total. It's home stay's with farmers in true rural villages, which I feel will give me more genuine interactions with the local people - not like ABC/AC treks etc where they get dozens of new faces coming through everyday. I will be def posting pics for sure, my instagram is "_andrewnicholson_" (just followed you) if you wanna see the pics (should be posting once I'm back in KTM about end of April) Shit that was an essay, sorry haha :)

@@ChaseMountains Yes, research. I did the Annapurna Base Camp trek last year and hoped to do the circuit next year. It's long been on my bucket list, but listening to what you have to say I think I'll be doing the EBC from Jiri or Bandhar instead, maybe with a side trip to Goyoko (any advice or videos?) Your video above basically confirmed a lot of chatter I've been hearing over the last few years, so I think the Annapurna circuit will be crossed off my to-do list. Thanks for the reply. at 12:00 the direction east and west is wrong. Siding is actually at east and the western valley you can go up to ABC.

You'd get some really cold mornings and nights and some snow cover up high but as far as I know the tea houses are open. as long as you don't mind the cold you'll be fine! I mean people trek to EBC in January and that's another 1000m higher at least so I don't see why you'd have any issues.

Dan91 thanks man! Appreciate it. I think it’s probably possible for you to do both ABC and MH in one go, many people link it up and it’s fairly easy to do once you look at a map and check out the signs. Do MH first and then drop down into the ABC trek around tatopani or thereabouts. You’ll be pretty well acclimatised do you can do a little faster on the ABC

@@ChaseMountains then we have different view on what looks best. For me no mountain trek would have better views than best mountain trek that has rivers and other water actions :)
