Let’s talk about how to get rid of facial hair if you’re a female.
The top cause of facial hair in females is PCOS. But, there are other potential causes, including a tumor on the adrenal glands or pituitary gland or Cushing’s syndrome.
Symptoms of PCOS:
1. Heavy cycles
2. No cycles
3. Acne
4. Infertility
5. Insulin resistance
The top cause of PCOS is high androgens. There is a lot of conflicting information on the internet and various suggestions on how to help improve this condition-but these recommendations can be confusing.
I believe that excess insulin increases androgens, so high insulin is the root cause of PCOS, which then leads to facial hair. In my opinion, a good solution would be to lower insulin.
How to lower insulin:
1. Lower your carb intake
2. Cut out snacks and decrease the frequency of your meals

I’ve had facial hair since my 20s. I have a pair of tweezers at home, in my purse, and in my car and have to tweeze my chin hairs daily. I was tested last year for PCOS and also a possible adrenal gland tumor, and nothing. I’ve been fasting for the last 2 weeks. Ironically today I thought “weird, I haven’t had to pluck my chin as much as I usually do”. Now I know why! This channel has taught me so much in the last month since I’ve stumbled upon it and I’m so grateful for the content! Thank you, Dr. Berg!

Well, let’s pray. Father God please help Dr. Berg remain humble and seeking the truth and speaking that and nothing more or less, it is a promise and Jeremiah 29:11-13 that if we humbly seek the truth with our whole heart we will find it. May he find the truth and prosper, may his children, grandchildren, and him unite in Christ mindedness and enjoy the exodus 20 blessing that comes with honoring your father and mother and living long because of it. May this family always turn to your truth God and may the truth set them free and keep them safe and protected. May no root of bitterness grow in their lives and may know schemes of the devil distract them from the best that you have for them.

Dr Berg, please dont forget a commonly forgotten cause of elevated androgens in females- CONGENITAL ADRENAL HYPERPLASIA. Both PCOS and Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) present with high androgens but differ in that the former usually presents with high cortisol/insulin resistance, and the latter with low cortisol and aldosterone. I’m a female with high testosterone. It was misdiagnosed as lean PCOS with zero elaboration. As my strange symptoms progessively got worse over the years, I had no option but to become my own health advocate as the standard treatment approach of PCOS (birth control) did not help me but actually caused my symptoms to get worse. MUCH WORSE. After 6 years of investigation, monitoring symptoms, and learning as much as I can about my own health through blood work and tracking menstrual cycles, I came to the undeniable conclusion that my “PCOS” was somehow intertwined with my adrenal glands. A naturapath/hormone specialist I was seeing finally agreed to run some labs which showed I had a significantly elevated testosterone as well as basal 17 OHP (progesterone) paired with very low cortisol. I took those pathology results to an endrocrinologist who then diagnosed me with NCCAH (non classic congenital adrenal hyperplasia). A commercial genetic test revealed that the cause of my NCCAH was a defeciency of of the enzyme 21-hydroxylase. This enzyme defeciency causes low cortisol which is what caused the majority of my symptoms.. At the time I thought my symptoms were possibly neurological (blurry vision, shaking hands and legs, severe weakness, fainting, nervousness but exhausted etc) but now understand that they were all textbook symptoms of hypoglycemia which was ultimately due to the low cortisol. I learned that the impaired cortisol biosynthesis leads to a dramatic overproduction of testosterone. This overproduction of testosterone was the cause of my hyper androgenic symptoms such as severe hair loss, excess facial and body hair, early and rapid puberty, mood swings, infertility, and polycystic ovaries. Being that congenital adrenal hyperplasia is relatively common, I'm unsure as to why it isnt discussed more. If you are a women with PCOS, yet not overweight, I highly suggest you look into your adrenal health. Getting copies off any and all bloodwork you have done is KEY. If I can prevent just one person from dealing with the years of suffering that comes along with CAH, the novel I just wrote will be so worth it. If western medicine doctors are continuing to medically gaslight you into believing that your symptoms aren't real, DONT GIVE UP. Being your own health advocate through deep research and monitoring WILL GIVE YOU ANSWERS! Don't give up!!!!!

I'm so glad that you share this knowledge with everyone Dr. Berg. I can now advise my daughters (YES, 4 kids in my 30's) should they ever have issues with their cycles or other issues. I tore my esophagus earlier this year after ingested a chicken bone, stayed in a surgical unit for a whole week. I was not allowed to eat or drink during the first 48hours, and was fed via a Ryles’ Tube for the next 4 days. I discharged from hospital on the 7th day. I was amazed that I could actually survive without eating for 48 hours, and also shed a few pounds as a bonus. Not only that, I reset my tastebuds, quit coffee and refined sugar. I then came across Dr Berg’s youtube, started practising intermittent fasting, and now on a One Meal A Day. As time goes by, I notice that my face glows because I no longer have too much facial hair! Thank you Dr Berg!

I’ve had excessive facial hair since I was 16,… over the years… it’s only gotten worse. Some doctors diagnosed me with PCOS,… others say I don’t have it. I can’t get an OBGYN or Primary Care Physician to do a full panel without charging me $1,000’s of extra… can’t get a referral to an endocrinologist… 🤷🏾‍♀️ so for me,… it’s electrolysis I’ll change my diet eventually. I have once before and it thinned the hair considerably,… but it’s so hard to maintain under stress… this is great content

Other adrenal gland medical issues besides Cushings is 17 or 21 hydroxylase deficiency can cause facial hair due to high level of androgens. It’s my understanding when the pituitary coverts cholesterol to cortisol it skips either the 17 or 21 step. An endocrinologist is the best to evaluate and treat accordingly.

I am pre-diabetic and I have soft very blond slight downy hair along the “sideburns” and onto a bit of jawline. Im 62, and it was something my mother had as well, as I’m well past menopause. With a major life change I’m making in my diet and exercise plan, trying to lose weight, also adjusting to increased dosages of my anxiety medication.. I’m just not keen on piling on any more responsibility of more meds right now. SO… I will do what I’ve been doing for years, shaving off that downy facial hair. It does not return thicker or darker nor do I have to do it more than 3 times a week. I have a scar from an accident on my chin , from which started growing two thick wiry hairs years ago and it started when I shaved those away after plucking them out did nothing. I am ok with how I deal with the issue, it was a bit odd feeling at first but I eventually became comfortable with it- and why not?
@Nonyah123

hmm, considering you're post menopausal and the hair is soft vs coarse, that doesn't sound like a hormonal hair issue, at least nothing to be concerned about. I would say the way you're dealing with it is perfectly fine, a long term solution if you really want, would be laser hair removal, but it doesn't work as well on blond, soft hair, better for coarse hair.

Dr. Berg references heavy menstrual cycles. I am now 62 years old but I can remember when I was in my early 30s, my menstrual cycles were so heavy that I literally had to buy a pack of newborn baby diaper. The overnight pads were never absorbent enough I could never even use tampons that was a waste. As a result of my heavy periods over time, I developed anemia. I started doing some research and realized I needed to stop eating sugar. I stopped eating sugar and white breads. I continued to eat berries… Like blueberries strawberries blackberries and would treat myself with some pineapple once in a while.By the next months cycle I could not believe the difference in my menstrual flow. I just could not believe that sugar alone was the cause. But it’s a fact in my life. Another benefit from not eating sugar is that my toenail fungus (both of my big toenails were yellow and thick) grew out. It took about three months to have my nail healthy again.
