6 for 6... how it's a spin to the right ? on the minute 6:01 .... it's showing the bank was on the left + the heading numbers are decreasing ?Am i wrong ? please explain it if possible ty

This caught my eye as well, I believe you are correct. It should be a left* spin!! I got my instrument rating in a G1000 172
@1dgram

You need to look at the magenta arc (turn rate trend vector) just above the HSI. The magnetometer is not to be trusted when in a spin.

@@1dgram so the attitude indicator is not to be trusted either?
@1dgram
@1dgram 2 жыл бұрын
@@TehOGKush With the six pack in a spin the attitude indicator topples, and with the G1000 in a spin unless your AHRS is demonstrated to have 100% reliability in all flight attitudes then assume that the artificial horizon is lying to you. It is the turn coordinator not the artificial horizon that is primary when in a spin.

6 4 6 hello Jason ; I truly love this scanning exercise, and certainly can’t seem to get enough of it while I am practising at home. Only wish I could get more of this flash card style of video to help strengthen my memory muscle. I have shared your videos with other fellow pilots and have encouraged a non-pilot friend who is learning with me the fundamentals of flight in preparation to landing in aircraft safely should I not be capable of performing. And once again thank you and your team for taking and sharing your knowledge with us✈️

I’ve always taught these two same methods, but the way you’ve articulated the details is pure poetry. Agree that Hub-Spoke method is more natural and also more consistent between IFR/VFR environment where instead of AI we have the actual view outside which should consume most of our attention. Also love the perceptual exercise. Thank you for another great video! 6/6

Jason and M0A are fantastic. I had purchased an IFR course from a well known pilot supply place, it was not designed for someone who wanted to do everything from square one without paying a CFII for the ground portion. I ended up getting my money back and becoming an M0A member. Thanks to Jason I passed my written with an 87, it would have been higher but I have a real mental block when it comes to VOR questions. Sadly, the flight portion hasn't gone as well as the ground, so I get to rejoin M0A, get a fresh endorsement and redo my written. It expired while I was in a discontinuance for weather, and the weather just hasn't cooperated since I requested the discontinuance. Since I have to retake the written my goal is to score a 100 this time around! I know that with M0A I can do it.

The “wagon wheel” approach works just as well for Day VFR - it’s just that the “seventh” instrument is your centre go-to - and that’s the attitude your Mark 1 eyeball sees through the windscreen between each instrument glance. But don’t forget the instrument glances - ‘cos you may be following gently lowering terrain (or more insidiously gently rising terrain) without knowing it - and your altitude is decaying with airspeed slowly creeping above cruise / Vno, or more insidiously altitude climbing and airspeed decaying towards stall!

Great stuff. The TC is not centered graphically. Nice clean look. There is no one-scan pattern to pick and should change based on the flight condition, how you scan in straight and level is very different than a descending turn.

There is a GREAT book, aptly titled “Instrument Flying Made Easy”, by Gene Hudson. Section 2-5 provides several tricks/shortcuts on instrument scanning. Unfortunately the book is out of print (5th edition copyright 2004). If you can find a used copy, it’s worth its weight in gold to any IFR student or even experienced pilot.

6 for 6! You had me confused. You said it was a spin to the left with a six pack. The ball was to the left. You always learn to step on the ball. If this is the case you would just keep spinning to the left. Does the ball travel towards the direction of the spin?
@whoanelly737-8
@whoanelly737-8 2 жыл бұрын
You can't rely on the ball in a spin. It depends on where the instrument is installed in the aircraft. Almost always, the ball is mounted left of the lateral CG and will indicate left regardless.
@1dgram
@1dgram 2 жыл бұрын
What@@whoanelly737-8 said is correct. You need to look at the miniature airplane component of the turn coordinator to tell the direction of the spin (assuming that just looking outside to see in what direction the ground is spinning is not an option).
