Today I'm sharing my go-to salad recipe that I used to lose 30 pounds in 90 days. This is a BIG salad. It's a whole meal. And it'll take you at least 40 minutes to eat the whole thing! Staying full while still losing weight is honestly the best feeling in the world. This salad comes together in about 5 minutes thanks to my weekly meal prep! Whether you follow a vegan / nutritarian diet or just enjoy a big salad from time to time, this is a great base to build on.

Hi Geoffrey, this is exactly what I found worked for me when I was trying to lose post pregnancy weight. I lost 50 lbs and felt so much healthier with this style of eating. What I love about it is how you can customize it according to your mood. I added jalapeños, olives, pinto beans, chicken breast and topped with sliced apple or orange. I thinned out hummus with lemon juice for dressing. Not boring!

Eating a huge salad for breakfast is the # 1 thing that keeps me lean. I had to get rid of the tradition of starting everyday with processed carbs (bread, cereal, grains, bagels, muffins, waffles etc.). The salad keeps me full throughout the day, I can prepare it in the time it takes to scramble and egg, and it sets the tone for a healthy day, every day. Setting the tone is the most important aspect of achieving any goal.

I would also highly recommend fresh herbs. Chopping fresh dill, cilantro, parsley, and rosemary (with scissors) makes a salad amazing and then all you need is a little grape seed oil and some pink Himalayan salt. So delicious! Thanks for the tip about the two head pizza chopper! ~N

Good question -- I put a piece of paper towel (or reusable kitchen towel) in the bottom of the containers that have damp foods in them (e.g.: cucumbers, bell peppers, etc.). Throughout the week as I use up the chopped veggies, I transfer them to a new, smaller container and replace the towel. They stay crisp and fresh for a full 7 days by doing this (in my experience).

I do a similar salad. I warm up veggie stock and add a teaspoon of vegetable bullion for extra punch. I add coconut aminos, or Bragg's, add a variety of vegetables in the pot with Italian herbs. After a short simmer I pour it over a prepared leafy salad that has nuts/flaxseed, balsamic vinegar. Maybe; it's a bit wilted but wow, the flavours come out beautifully and on a cool winter night its warm and satisfying.

Thanks so much! I have found I need some rules to get me to eat my raw veggies. I even ate completely raw for 3 years & it was great. I since put the weight back & had trouble staying true to a plant based diet; bread is my downfall; & I can eat the starch fine w/o the greens. When I saw your video I got so excited bc I knew I could do this. Bless you for this video!! I'm now getting my raw veggies, with some other motivational treats (sweet potatoes, rice, beans). It's tough isn't it?! I was super skinny my whole life. I ate whatever and it didn't matter, then I hit my 30's and hello weight gain! I felt like I yo-yo'd back and forth but couldn't seem to get under a certain number. It was SO depressing! Recently I tried apple cider vinegar and probiotics. I know, there's not a lot of science behind it but I've lost ten pounds in two weeks. I just make a green smoothie with a Tbsp of ACV. I add a little honey to cut down the sour and I'm telling you, it does something to your appetite. I have one in the morning, a salad for lunch and drink another about an hour before dinner. I don't claim to know what exactly it does, but I'm FINALLY ten pounds away from my goal weight! I did read that our metabolism lives in our gut flora and ACV is a precursor to absorbing good bacteria? If you can stomach it it might be worth a try. Best of luck to you on your goals!

How do you get your greens to last in the fridge. I find they get slimy or soggy after a few days....
@GeoffreyAlan
@GeoffreyAlan 3 жыл бұрын
I usually eat my greens several days before their "best by" date, so I generally don't have a spoilage issue. That said, I also buy groceries 2x per week because I can't fit all the salad in my fridge. So on grocery day, I'll have 6 containers in there. If you're finding your salad greens are getting slimy, you could try slipping a sheet of paper towel at the bottom of the container to absorb moisture. I'd do this as soon as you get them home from the store. I always add paper towel to leftover partial containers of opened greens and it seems to help them stay fresher for longer.

I suspect it’s the addition of all the fiber from the vegetables causing some initial indigestion and bloating white your stomach / digestive system gets used to a new way of eating. hahha. . exactly what I did after the first day.. chop it all down fine enough to eat with a spoon. Because the first day it took about an hour to eat.

🤣 So many hour long salads - the chopping definitely makes eating them faster!

Wow.. I’ve never thought salad could have that much stuff in it.. also me: I’m Asian and I just started to enjoy eating salad at age 25 (I only eat romaine🤣) now I feel like I’m not doing much. I’ll try some of these toppings for sure.
@GeoffreyAlan
@GeoffreyAlan 3 жыл бұрын
I used to eat only Romain too. I also though that Ranch was the only salad dressing 🤣 I’m planning to upload more salad recipe ideas soon! Hope you’re having fun trying new toppings 😊

Love salads. I also add fresh blueberries, a few nuts, almonds or even peanuts, cilantro, seeds, Chinese onions, grilled shrimp, chicken or red meat but very little of the meat.

They’re Rubbermaid Brilliance and I absolutely love them! They’ve held up well over the last 2.5 years (always through the dishwasher too). No breakage, leakage, or discoloration even with tomato sauce.

I dont really like humus can I use something else that is healthy ? Also I am not sure of everything he is saying so can I find it somewhere in writing? I am not American. Anyway it looks absolutely lovely and I need to lose weight. So need help. Thank you xx
@GeoffreyAlan
@GeoffreyAlan 3 жыл бұрын
If you don't like hummus, you could use any other oil-free salad dressing. In my Healthy Eating playlist I have a few additional salad dressing options. You can also keep it simple with basic dressings like citrus juice, pre-made low-sodium salsa, red wine or balsamic vinegar, etc. You can view the full written transcript fo the video on desktop only (not mobile app) by clicking the 3 horizontal dots that are next to the "Share" and "Save" buttons (to the right of thumbs up / thumbs down. Click "Open Transcript" from the menu and you'll be able to see the auto-generated captions which are close to 100% accurate generally. You can copy the transcript text and paste wherever is helpful (e.g.: word processor or translation app). If you just want captions, you can click the "CC" which will turn on the autogenerated closed captions. Hop that helps?

Amen. I read life changing book by Jennifer Garner's nutritionist Kelley Leveque. I think the book is called Body Love or something. The title is a little misleading because the content of the book is all very factual and it covers the methodology and science of why she has her celebrity clients eat the way they do. The cliffnotes version: "Fab Four Diet" = protein, fiber, fats, and greens at every meal. From whole sources. 3-4 meals a day. 16:8 intermittent fast. Stay away from starchy carbs and dairy (only have it VERY occasionally).... I tried out this Fab Four diet and I was literally seeing the scale drop by 1 pound every day. Im getting back into it in prep for my honeymoon in 7 weeks. Fingers crossed for good results!

Nicole Ritchie's home-made salad dressing would be great with this. Wisk together well: 1/3 cup of Apple Cider Vinegar, teaspoon or dollop of dijon mustard, teaspoon of honey, salt and pepper to taste.... Wisk in 1/2 cup of Olive Oil till well combined. Drizzle over salad.....

Same salad bowl same Tupperware mostly same salad ingredients. Dude, are we related? Two things you should try. Apple cider vinegar and sauerkraut or kimchi depending on the salad.

You ate this for lunch and dinner? What does the dressing consist of? What did you eat for breakfast?
@GeoffreyAlan
@GeoffreyAlan 3 жыл бұрын
Correct, I ate this for lunch and dinner. The dressing is essentially a hummus, but thinned down. The full recipe is in this video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZbce6iLhZuqlc0). I recently released 2 new salad videos with additional dressing options; playlist here (kzbin.info/aero/PLk9SFCGd-WkiRnrMZvfAWTXZBda3BgDYb). Every day for breakfast I had this smoothie (kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4C9ipigraylZ6M).

People who think salad's a deprivation are crazy! I love salad and eat at least one daily whether it's a main dish or a side dish, and my friends always request that I make a salad when we have a "pot luck" or I'm taking a side dish to add to a meal.
