That first house is Fair Field, in the Hamptons. Its hardly the largest or most expensive house in the United States. Size-wise, it is ranked 19th. Biltmore, in Asheville, NC, comes in at no. 1 and is almost three times the size of Fair Field.

This is really nice. However I don't believe it's as large nor worth as much as Biltmore Estate in Asheville North Carolina. Biltmore constructed between 1888 & completed in 1895 with its art & museum furnishings is in the Billion's of dollars range. Many furnishings and art pieces are priceless beyond dollar value. Biltmore is 175,000 sq. ft. over 4 acres of floorspace. William Morris Hunt was the Architect (creator of New York & Rhode Islands famous Gilded Age Mansions) and Frederick Law Olmsted was the Landscape Architect (creator of the New York Central Park) together designed Biltmore Estate under the carefull eye of owner George Washington Vanderbilt heir of the Vandebilt Railroad fotune. The estate was built on 125,000 acres.
