The mini stories are from years ago as part of development of the Sinmoh mythos. They were basically just slapping Pokémon into the place of yokai and other mythological creatures in existing myths and then whittling away what wasn't appropriate. The Octillery one was used but with the Octillery part cut out, for example.

Basically it was a tale to make people not overhunt the horses the plain living tribes relied on when they were introduced. They repeated horses to spirit siblings. Sisters and brothers to the tribes. But it's really fucking hilarious to say instead that a man saw a Rapidash (and then talked to her because these all could speak/be understood like any myth with animals in it) and the dude went "Damn you fine girl. Your hair is beautiful. I will not kill you this day. Instead, I am going to help you repopulate" and then he Genghis Khan'd and repopulated the dying out Ponyta's. The plains were again filled with Ponyta's. The story then brings up another hunter who did not show respect and killed and killed till he was tricked and turned into a Rapidash himself. Because he was male, the original hunter came back and stained him, only to.find out he was a human inside the Rapidash skin suit as this is basically normal animal myths logic where animals are just humans where skins to become a new thing.

@@eror404acountnotfound9 Nah, there were apparently rules. Guy wanted the Rapidash's mane, but the rule was he couldn't kill her. So he took her as his wife. Later on when hunting he was allowed to kill the Male Rapidash for what he needed. His neighbor however... when he went hunting didn't even give the Rapidash the chance to say this rule and instantly killed a Female Rapidash and took her main. He was just going to show off to the first guy, but decided to take a nap. The first guy and his wife Rapidash came across the sleeping man and the Rapidash told him he could kill that one that Male Rapidash, and he did. He then took the main the other guy, and then his wife left him to return to her heard since he had the main he original wanted. Long story short, don't fuck with the rules of the wilds. Something that extended into canon and was expressed in the Swords of Justice lore about humans overstepping their bounds.... actually 3/4 stories I've read have been about humans overstepping their bounds and getting punished for it. The last one was Typhlosion. Still have not seen Lapras or Milotics surface.

Yeah I agreed with that at first after someone else said that, but based on how the Typhlosion talked to the "girl", I think the "girl" WAS young. Or maybe the girl was an adult and the Typhlosion was talking like that because he wasn't really a human and for all we know didn't spend enough time with humans to speak more eloquently. Edit: Okay, apparently one guy from KYM said the girl in the story WAS young, because it had the kanji for Shoujo which means Young Girl.

Definitely a translation and culture thing Shounen and Shoujo in more recent times is used to refer to boys and girls under 20. In 17th century it was used to refer to 17-20 year old. So if the story takes inspiration from Japanese Folklore then its safe to assume they're at least 17 years old in that story.

To try and clean up Typhlosion's record some, the original Japanese text didn't refer to the girl as a pre-teen. It used the Japanese term equivalent to a young maiden (of the general age range of 15-20), rather than the term used for a young girl under that general age range. It's just a lot funnier for the leakers to have translated it as a young girl instead for the peedo memes. Also, there's a growing fan theory that Arceus is actually the mother of Dawn and Lucas given that the leaked Legendary lore was that they never bred with Pokemon, only with humans, taking on a form suitable to procreate with the chosen one. Also that Cynthia is actually an alter ego of Arceus, or another child of it (moreso given her ancestor's obsession with Arceus). So if anything, it changes the whole tone of Ash getting involved with Latias in that one movie.

These "interactions" were implied by more than just the Sinnoh myth: in Pokemon Colosseum, there is an old lady in Agate village that talks about being with her mightyena "boyfriend" for a long time. On its own it could just be considered weird dialogue, but in XD the pair get replaced with a little kid and a poochyena, giving the implication that they're the pair's grandchildren.

Ah it's just the source material. Typhlosion us based on the mujina, a shape-shifting badger yokai. And you know how yokai were behaving in those stories. Also shoujo in period accurate context(I.e the way it was used at the time Japanese folktales were being created) referred to a female in her late teens.

My starter in HeartGold was Cyndaquil/Quilava/Typhlosion and I remember walking interactions with it at high friendship including things like "Typhlosion's cheeks are getting rosy" and "Typhlosion suddenly hugged you". I was already a bit uneasy about these messages in the games. This development certainly did not help.

If you never heard of Aoyama, then the most concise way to describe him is that he single-handedly has had the most profound negative influence on Japan through the 1980s to 1990s (drugs, bad taste, cheese pizza, etc.). Nintendo of Japan already commissioned an ero-artist to do the official Pokemon manga in the 1990s, so most of what you're learning in these leaks are incredibly tame in nature; anyone with any knowledge about this franchise and its creator already know they're pushing the envelope about taboo issues.

If they want to cover edgy/dark content and taboo issues they can feel free to do that. The fandom has been waiting for the series to grow up with them for ages. It's Development Bible stuff. It gives cultural logic about the setting and they were based on real life myths. The Rapidash one is based on Native American folklore to dissuade over hunting of horses by saying they were spirit siblings. The Typhlosion one was based off a West African werejaguar myth meant to talk about outcast members of society who live in the forest as boogeyman for other villagers to behave. The Slaking one is part of the oni child myths of Japan where evil is met with curses and retribution. You took lives so you must as a mother now care for a new life to make up for it. Even if said life is an evil being. The Octiliery one is actually based on Greek myth where one of the heroes was born of a similar union. Though it had more in common with the Laparas version of the tale also leaked as they were trying to choose which sea based Pokemon to use as the mother. They went with Octilery most likely as a call back to the paints "The Fisherman's Wife" by Katsushika Hokusai since he was also famous for making ukiyo-e art of famous heroes as well as nature pieces like "Great Wave Of Katagawa" and "34 Views Of Mount Fuji". Even more funny, it is spectacullated Hokusai's daughter Ooei actually drew half of his paints do to them sharing the pen names and working together constantly as poor painters because neither was responsible with money and simply wished to paint.

Important thing to note that the stories are machine translated. You should try translating a paragraph between languages and see if it still retains its true meaning. I can see why those folk tales stuff went those directions since they were supposed to emulate like how some of those old real life mythologies. Like all the stuff zeus or loki did and what not. It was all for the theme of gen 4. Two of the main themes are how the lines between pokemon and humans were obscure and the themes of the lake guardians. Of course none the stuff that was leak would fly in a real pokemon game and they were converted to something more palpable. Like i think the typhlosion one was changed to a pokemon that shed its skin to live among people. The stuff in the canalave library. Still its weird that they just had super old rough drafts saved on a server for all these years. Like theres artwork from the anime.

Even if one wants to make it more mature, the others shut that down, and will even direct the other to "fix" anything they think might hurt sales.
