They are exaggerating what NL did there. He suggested that people are quick to characterize anything as "food poisoning" (not allergies, he never attacked food allergies, those are two unrelated stories) when in fact that is not as common as people think, all in an exaggerated NLSS tone and his friends piled up mocking him. He later had to painstakingly explain to said friends what he meant, which is that of course food poisoning exists. As for the allergies, I didn't see the episode, but I suspect it's the same deal. Btw, he was right, because food poisoning is a very specific thing and it seems people NA call getting diarrhea after eating out food poisoning, despite the possibility that it could be anything else (intolerance, mild allergy, IBS, viral or bacterial infection etc). Your "lost respect" for the man is very infantile, though. Most people are ignorant about something or another and college degrees are famously useless in North America. He knows next to nothing about biology, except for some stuff in most countries highschool's curriculum, though a bit more in depth (Krebs cycle anyone?), but is reasonable in dealing with new evidence, which is unfortunately quite rare. Now, don't get me wrong, the guy is not my hero, though it seems like he was yours, for him to have fallen from grace after such mild and unsourced mischaracterization. That must have been quite a high pedestal. Don't blame him for not conforming to your expectations, he's only smart when compared to mostly highschool dropout streamers and the little class in his school you see on the NLSS and KZbin/twitch. He's pretty much average among higher educated adults, plus a good memory for factoids. I mean, you should've noticed that actual smart people are those that quickly adapt to new situations and develop strategies to solve complex problems, not those that can recite state capitals of a foreign nation or the complete discography of Men at Work in chronological order.

On my personal file, after I unlocked it the missing poster would never spawn unless it was a fantastic run that I didn't want to squander, so I ultimately just decided that the next time I saw it, no matter how good the run, I would use the sac room. Unfortunately we know how eggman is, so it'll be a while

actually I believe Missing Poster in a Self Sacrifice Room is the ONLY way to unlock the Lost now. IIRC they removed the puzzle quest in Afterbirth+ initial release.

Hayfever was a condition initially used to describe an allergy to grass pollen, as grass comes in many types it is nearly impossible to eliminate others and find the specific grass type you are allergic to so the general term Hayfever was used. Hay fever and hay both come from grass. You're likely to get hay fever when you're out in the fields chopping up grass to make hay, because that will release all the pollen and shit while you're cutting it. You can also have an allergic reaction to the hay itself (I tend to break out in hives), but I'm not sure if that counts as hay fever.

hay is dry, thus particles are more likely to fly around. if you're allergic to pollen for example you will have a bad time near a haystack. maybe in older days they didn't know about allergies and this is how they thought it worked. interestingly, in german hay fever is called hay sniff (heuschnupfen).
