Why do I keep meeting you pal haha, actually a lot of Scottish people emigrated starting in around 1700, from the Lowlands as well as the Highlands, some of them were even forcefully evicted and made to leave by their landlords in the agricultural revolution. They remain proud of their mother country and we too should be proud of our wide diaspora and what they have achieved. Canada, New Zealand and Australia are 3 of the best countries in the world, and Scotsmen had a main role in building them

OK LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. These are the black watch of CANADA, which I have seen in person. The original black watch comes from Scotland. Remember that one time everyone freaked out?

The original Canadian Black watch was disbanded and retagged the 2nd Royal Canadian Regiment. Their colors are retired the regiments church in Montreal. The Black watch was the queen's mothers regiment. They were known as the Ladies from hell by the germans for their quiet nature, but fierce fighting. The name was carried on from theWW! to WW2. They are also known as the devils brigade which a movie was made after.

It is technically wrong to say "The original Canadian Black watch was disbanded", implying the present Regiment in Montreal is "unoriginal" or has been reconstituted or reraised. The Regiment was never ever disbanded per se with only the First and Second Battalions removed from the Regular Army ORBAT. Otherwise the Third (Militia) Battalion was never touched and the present Regiment is what used to that Third Battalion. It's Colours still carry all the Battle Honours of the First and Second Battalions of the Regiment in proper form. PS Colours are never "retired" for the reason that once presented they will forever carry the force and authority of both the State and the Sovereign, they have only been laid down.

@agibbs98 Becase for centuries we of the north, the Gael have kept in contact with family overseas. As a boy I remember letters from Australia, South Africa, Canada, America with references such as our Jock or Hammish or perhaps Jessie Morag's youngest graduated and is going to California. They think of themselves as Scottish because we encourage them to. They are the Children of the Exiles, they are us and all the seas and all th4e mountains can never thin the blood.

@piperstune emmm nope sorry but if you check properly you will find The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland (3 SCOTS) is an infantry battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. also known as the royal highlanders who were first assisgned to watch over the highlands in 1725 to stop the clans fighting, what part of that has anything to do with canada, fed up with people trying to stake claim in the best regiment that ever fought

I will say this once more slowly so you can understand as the message seems to be be passing you by. As things stand Scotland as part of the UK are defended by the best trained forces in the world I agree, as an independent country standing on it's own it has no means of defending itself from anyone. How hard can it be to understand that, if you wont to go it alone that's what will happen you don't have any armed forces.

My Grandparents emigrated to Canada from Scotland. How the hell can you say that there are no Scots in Canada? Unfortunately for me i never got to know them and thus lost out on a very rich history. I am proud of my ancestry, that which i know of it. I am proud that Canadians have Scots living here that honour it as well. and i am ashamed that there are closed minded people like you that think the way you do. Open your eyes and quit being blind.

When you say "us" whom are you referring to. Canadians or Scots ?. I don't claim to be a Scot I just happen to know a few that live over here now. For what it's worth I hold British and Canadian Citizenship, both of which I'm proud to have. Not sure what you were getting at anyway.

It's not a matter of "copying", but alliance, as in the case of all British colonies and dominions way back, and all Canadian regiments were affiliated with one or more regiments in the British "mother country." The Canadian unit concerned is called the Black Watch of Canada and was affiliated with the British Black Watch for the simple reason that the Canadian unit is the senior Highland regiment in Canada, as in the case that the Black Watch was the senior Highland Regiment in the UK. There are proper historical reasons why things have been lined up that way, and this isn't just a matter of "copying".

So the Canadian Black Watch with their battle honours and Victoria Crosses are fake in your view then. The British Army Black Watch (3 SCOTS) would call you a liar by virtue of the fact that they officially recognize the regimental affiliations and see us as part of their regimental family. Go grab a copy of their regimental journal The Red Hackle and you will see they carry mentions of the Canadian Black Watch in virtually every issue.

what oil? your north sea is on its last legs, where as in England we have discoverd in 6 parts of the country huge reserves of shale gas, also theres the falkland islands oil, I personally want scotland to be independent and not because I hate you, you hate me, I want Scotland to stand on its own two feet and actually support itself, instead of Westminster bank rolling scotland where you get free prescriptions and England does not, so please vote yes, and watch what happens very quickly :D
