Who was the FIRST big name bodybuilder who you saw in person?
@davidboggs30572 ай бұрын
Not a big name..but Charles Durr was the 1st "real" bodybuilder I met when was about 17 or so. Blown away by how he looked and how nice he was. Now..speechless?? I met Serge Nubret in Rimini Italy in 1995 at an expo. I was dumbfounded and could barely speak to ask for a picture.

Met Jay Cutler and King Kamali in 2000. They were both guest posing at the Louisiana State Championship. I remember it was just before they started their Olympia prep. Cutler was 305lbs, and Kamali was 315lbs!!

First was Darrem Charles at an LA fitness in South FL. His son & I ended up becoming gym acquaintances when I was very young (like 14yrs old or so in 2006). I just remember Darrem's arms being absolutely absurd lookiing while doing pullups. The coolest pro was by far James Hollingshead that I met last yr while I was running the front desk of my gym. He & his wife were nothing but class & so kind. Haven't seen someone with that level of strength make it look so effortless & immediately after a vomit inducing set for the average man he would be willing to talk or take pics with people. The guy is Wired/Built DIFFERENT lol.

I met these guys for the first time in -97 and all of them at the same weekend. Kevin Levrone, Chris Cormier, Ronnie Coleman, Nasser El Sonbaty, Paul Dillett, Vince Taylor, Marko Savolainen, Milos Sarcev, Lee Priest and a few others whose names I can't remember, it left an impact that is still felt today.

I just want to say I appreciate you guys. Bodybuilding isn't even a big part of my life anymore and I just workout to feel good nowadays... But the culture will always be in my heart and I look forward to hearing you guys shoot the sh*t more than literally any other podcast. The humour and passion you show is unique to you three, and it makes a big difference to people's lives, probably more than you know. The collective experience, advice and common sense you guys give on this show is pure gold and I wish it existed when I was balls-deep in the sport! I hope the youngsters appreciate it... Which I'm sure they do. Long may it continue, fellas. Cheers from the UK.

Question for the next show. What’s your thoughts on mass builder movements in the gym? Like close grip bench for triceps vs one arm cable press downs. In the context of weekly volume for a body part its best to incorporate both isolation and compound movements obviously Long winded but do you think if you were to measure the muscle mass gained on a scale between 2 twins one can literally grow more from squats vs leg extensions for example I always cringe when I hear a competitor in the gym saying. “This is the mass building movement for the workout” Love the show gentlemen,gets me through cardio

Whata your opinions on making prep as fun as possible even if you get 95% there but it was so fun and you can do it evey year or should it be hell to get to 100% every time and you dread the experiences and then might not prep again? Obvious different for the o but for regular competitors at national level that ot will always be a hobby.
@ghostman8242 ай бұрын
Like you have some fun high days. Experiment abit with high n low days. Like no cardio but less food or more food but focus on less stress to lose fat etc? I know there's always hell in final weeks but before that I feel if you find a way to make it fun n enjoyable thr fat drops off better than feeling shit 12 weeks out. I've had a prep now that has been easy with high food coz I jist didn't stress about it and had unstructured high days , like way high and been losing fat the fastest ever and best look on stage yet.
@ghostman8242 ай бұрын
Stress has the biggest impact on fat loss imo. And sometimes I think trying to prep on the highest food possible and stress less and good sessions is the best method. Rather than huge deficits and hours of cardio
