If you're wondering about that lizard-induced hallucination sequence with the Rain and the tree and the flashbacks to Boba's youth on Kamino, it's been said that Tatooine was once a watery garden world full of plants including the Gaffi Tree from which the Tuskens make their iconic Gaffi stick weapons. The lizard guided Boba to one of the last remaining Gaffi Trees, allowing him to craft his own Gaffi stick. A lot of people really hate this show. I personally like it, though I don't love it like I do the other recent shows we've had from Star Wars. I liked seeing the Tusken culture being fleshed out, and delving a bit deeper into Boba's side, seeing how he's looking for a (slightly) less violent future than the life he led as a bounty hunter. I could take or leave the biker mod gang stuff, and there are some parts of the writing that could be stronger, but I still had fun overall.

It's called a "Bacta tank," Addie. If you remember, they put Luke Shywalker in one when Han saved him on Hoth the ice planet, and when Vader was in the one on the Kenobi series. I know it's going slow but it picks up much better from here on. Black Krrsantan (the wookie) and Fennec Shand are important characters in the STAR WARS universe. There are comic books just on them. It's looking good so far, Addie, and I can't wait until you've finished it.

And then they got upset that it turned out to be different from the character in their head. 🤷♂️

The Tusken rituals, proving your worth to the tribe, making your weapon, ritual dance, and such -I am sure that Temerua M' as a Maori, of New Zealand, was pivotal in his working as Boba Fett. The two humans at the bar, are Cammie and Fixer, two old friends of Luke and Biggs, whose scenes were cut from the first movie, yet freely available to view now (they were included in novel and comic. If Sammie had been in the film, there would have been three Women in the first film ;) The scenes of Luke meeting his friends, and Biggs saying he wanted to leave the academy for the Rebellion,...would have broken up the initial battle over Tatooine, and revealed there were humans before the Jawas pulled up at the Lars ranch. Nice to see these two return -yet, different actors. The actress who played Sammie, Koo Stark, became a soft-core Porn actress, and had an affair with Prince Andrew of England, in the early 80's. She now attends SciFi conventions, and lives a normal life. ;) The Pike Syndicate, you will see more of in SW: Solo, and some of the animated series. The modified youths on speeders, one of the controversy of this show, are based on Mods of England in the Sixties -stylish clothes, groovy music, European Scooters -these cyborgs, I like the idea, or another cultural influence. And, Danny Trejo, as the Rancor Trainer -so awesome!!

@thepyromantic3468 Жыл бұрын
@@NateL1992 That's why they make sense though. When first watching it I hated them too but didn't take me long to realise it's actually one of the best bits of culture shown in the franchise. SW was originally basically WW2 in space and what happened right after WW2? The kids that lived threw it grew up and launched the Greaser and MOD movements that this gang are very much inspired by, which cherished their Hot-rods, Bikes and Mopeds that were usually extremely colourful and well looked after. They were especially common in more crime heavy places. With the logic that SW has always followed it makes complete sense for teens / young adults to start gangs like this after the Empire fell, especially on remote crime riddled planets like Tatooine. Visually it might stand out a bit too much but logically it's bloody brilliant. It's also nice to have some alternative culture representation in a major franchise cos it's pretty uncommon especially in sci fi.

The overly colorful speeder bikes stood out to me as well upon first viewing. One of my favorite things in both The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett is how they've fleshed out the Tusken's to be more than just one dimensional bad guys in the background. Showing them as indigenous tribes that are sometimes rivals with the settlers in their territory is a nice touch to the lore.

Glad you're doing this - well, you have to - but I genuinely loved this part of the series. I love all the Fett/Tusken stuff, it's really wonderful and about as "Star Wars" as it gets in that context. Also it confirms something for me that I've believed for nearly 40 years, that the Rancor are not monsters - the handling of that is really touching. The primary coloured biker gang is somewhat misjudged, but that doesn't detract too much for me. Strap yourself in though Addie, you're in for a ride!

One of the main gripes I think people have with the show is they went in expecting "Star Wars does The Godfather," and got "Star Wars does Dances With Wolves." The show is really both of those, so if you tuned in for one story and had no interest in the other, I get how that could rub you the wrong way. I like both stories, so I thought it was just fine. At least going by the original novelization, Jabba's rancor was mistreated, penned up, and starved unless Jabba wanted to feed someone to it, living a miserable existence. The keeper really did care for it, tried to sneak it extra food and even planned an escape for them both, I think, before Luke had to kill it. Basically, Jabba wanted a big, scary monster, and made his rancor into exactly that. The cyborg hover scooter gang is a reference to British "Mod" culture, people who like riding around on customized and very colorful scooters. I like them, they do stand out on Tattooine, and that's the point. More specifically, that's *their* point, they want to look out of place and be the opposite of what everyone else is. That's what a counter-culture does.
@spacezombie13 Жыл бұрын
they don't mention it in the show, but Krrsantan and Boba have worked before in the comics, both being bounty hunters and all. that may have been a factor in boba releasing him and giving him the advice to not work for assholes (given working for Jabba is what led to him being left in the sarlacc pit)

I don't get why people had an issue with that gang when they made sense. Think of it this way: the OT was basically WW2 in space. What happened after WW2 ended? The kids that lived through it started the Greater and MOD movement of the 1950s and 60s. They cherished their hot rods, motorcycles, and mopeds and kept them well looked after as well as fairly colorful. The speeder gang was a nod to that. With Star Wars fandom it's safe to assume "there's always a bigger nerd", if you watched all of Clone Wars you'd still miss references from the games, if you played every single Star Wars game you'd still miss references to the Holiday Special, or the books, or the comics, etc etc etc. If you count all new canon and old-EU content that's nearly a bottomless pit of obscure knowledge that's fun to know about and spot the easter-eggs for, but absolutely not essential for anyone to enjoy these shows.

Bobba Fett did die. He was a 2nd rate disposable bad guy back when 'Empire' & 'Return' were made. Extended universe nonsense built up the Mandalorian lore for the fans and Favreau took it for his project to redress the atrocious eps 7, 8 & 9 and resurrected Fett as a ploy to appeal to the SW fanboi element and generate a larger following. Hat's off to him, it worked.

As you've probably read by now there are a few camps of people who hate this series. Thankfully, you're not one of any of them. Die hard Boba crazies of the original trilogy demand he goes back to being a one-note murder machine, while others hate the merging of the prequels with the originals in the form of ugly bikes, and still others demand the series only focus on Boba overall. None of these arguments hold water, and this show is meant as a one run spin off of Din's story set in the post Empire era and it has some of the best moments of all of Star Wars. Enjoy the rest.

This was first one and mandalorians first two seasons that i looked like worthy of star wars mantle.. after 1999 dispointment sequalls.. after disney newly warmed shite ... This looked like done to grown ups not kids.. so one out of soooo many mostly useless ones .. originals and then you can straight start from this one and rogue one.. all the others are for kids and popcorn...WHY???? NOT DONE ANY OTHER TO ADULTS??? ONLY ORIGINALS AND THIS SERIES IS MADE FOR ADULTS MORE THAN KIDS...WHY IS IT SO HARD...

this show was so bad lol Boba Fett got turned into a weak old man who hates violence, never gets to look cool or badass and cant do anything without Fennec to do it for him

Bizarrely accurate to his original movie appearance haha, shows up as a wingman to the main bad guy then falls in a pit.

@@MikeHesk742 in his first movie appeance he's a badass who goes up against the heroes and wins and gets away with his prize. he got a lame death but he spent a whole movie before that being awesome.

@@arobin6695 He's in like 2 scenes lol. Vader captured his prize for him and basically big-dicked Boba Fett for the rest of that film by performing experimental treatments on his prize that might kill him, with a promise to compensate him if he dies. When Han conveniently lives, Vader lets Fett walk away with him. It doesnt feel like any of that involves Boba Fett actually doing anything or being in control of the situation... he shoots a wall near Luke at one point? That was pretty hype. Problem with Boba Fett is we spent decades hyping him up after a pretty feeble showing, wrote books about how cool he *really* is, then they made The Mandalorian and gave that entire personality/lifestyle to Mando. Leaving Boba with not much to make him unique... so they turned him into the world's coolest grandpa instead. I don't love it haha, but you can see how we got here.

@@MikeHesk742 he was introduced with a huge group of bounty hunters and then shown to be better than all of them by being the only person to see through Han's trick, he's the only reason the heroes failed to escape, he defeated the good guys and got away with it. He talked back to Vader without fear and got paid twice for his bounty, by Vader and by Jabba. It's subtle but you can see him turn his head when Luke pulls his blaster out and the fact that he heard Luke lets him stop Luke from rescuing Han. He's shown to be a badass bounty hunter who's damn good at his job. How many secondary antagonists get to go up against the heroes and actually win and get away at the end? all that in addition to looking awesome. he didnt get much screentime but he was cool looking and good enough to go up against Han or jedi Luke and come out on top.
