Anthony Starr's portrayal of the sociopathic Homelander is an early contender for next year's Emmys. Karl Urban's equally deranged character Billy Butcher was one of the other highlights. Many people have already mentioned it on here, but the airplane scene really is phenomenal. This is one of the best tv shows that I have seen in years.

Love your analysis, and, if you notice, their backstories as shown in the last episodes are quite parallel. Both had tough mentors who were basically using them and manipulating. And in Butcher's case, he literally later on becomes exactly that.

That's cool right?" Absolutely all of the characters except Homelander were bland. I absolutely did not care about any of them dying. 50% of the scenes did nothing to build the world or move the plot forward., and every single character sounded like Seth Rogen. They spent more time on the idiot fish guy and his misadventures with lobsters than they did with main characters like the black guy that's supposed to be an integral part of the Boys (can't even remember his name). They literally showed the fish guy getting fingered through his chest, and they didn't show the scene where Homelander finds out the "real truth". This show is probably based on some amazing source material, but it's execution was utter crap.

@@gabrielcabello9227 Joker isn't a vile man His methods were wrong but he did a lot good stuffs 1) Brought the money laundering of mobs to light of the police by robbing a mob bank 2) Systematically eliminating mobsters 3) Removing Corrupt judges , officers , law makers and psychopath officials like Harvey Dent 4) Last but not the least killing Rachael ( who I shouldn't say but she was a gold digger). Had Rachael not been killed and that letter would have reached to Bruce Wayne ( god knows might have shattered him forever) On a different perspective Joker was actually the Hero of the Dark knight while Batman was a tragic hero like Achilles

Srinjoy Kar You can say that and that’s a fair point but he still committed several crimes and his overall premise is a twisted character. That’s not the point I’m trying to make though, I’m just saying people can love a character simply because of the acting. It’s not always because of what a character does or their morals, my guy.

Dude, this series makes so happy that the justice league and the avengers were conceived in other eras than ours. Because if someone came up with them NOW, it would be extremely difficult to not adopt The Boys aesthetic and belief around super heroes.

I love Eric Kripke as a storyteller - he deserves way more credit, for showing the regular person with other people to defeat those with supernatural power. They underestimate people without power, but they soon learn to FEAR those regular people. They persevere because of their love and commitment to each other, and certainly deal with a lot of shit with each other. Also recognizes that just having superpowers doesn't make you evil, just like just having powers doesn't make you deserve praise. That's all over Supernatural Seasons 1-5 as well.

I'm two episodes in and I am very intrigued by it. Also, this definitely reminds me of Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo's "Luthor," which is a story told from Luthor's perspective looking at Superman as a threat. Very good stuff.

You should watch Misfits. It's a British TV series from 2009 but that was the first real take on what happens when you give regular people super powers. Plus there's the added benefit of seeing a young Ramsey Bolton who, believe it or not, was the nicest of the bunch! Number 4 from Umbrella Academy also features as one of the Misfits. Crappy special effects but excellent storytelling.
