Hi there, writing from Malaysia. I own a Proton X70 standard basic model from 2020 with 7 speed DCT and suspension tuning by Proton's in-house engineers. I think the X70 is a pretty handsome and evergreen design compared to the competition from Honda and Mazda. I do hope that Proton will adopt this new Boyue L for its next generation model, albeit with less piano black interior surfaces and more physical control dials and switches. That sun visor design is absolutely innovative. Proton needs to do this to survive and keep up with future new offerings from Honda and Mazda here in Malaysia. It will be interesting to see how Proton's designers will integrate Proton's emblem on the front fascia.

@MonsieurGuy Жыл бұрын
@@watataenjoyer Proton X70 is not a bad car and has some good value but I'd wait for the newer ones to be imported here. Then again, one can imagine if the parts supply issues will be resolved by the time the new model enters here..
@kkhalifah1019 Жыл бұрын
The upcoming X70 major facelift in 2024 will be based on the Azkara, so it stands to reason that this ultra-luxurious Boyue L could form the basis of the 2nd generation top-of-the-range X70 and flagship of the Proton brand in 2029-2030 (Geely will probably only release this new Boyue series to Proton after it has moved on to a new facelifted model). But I would expect a big price increase when that happens, as not only will you get a bigger car with a vastly more premium interior and better bells & whistles but, as this reviewer mentioned, you might also get that stonking 2.0T Volvo Drive-E engine. There's also the Boyue Cool, which is a lower-graded version of the L (different interior, more hard plastics, no LED eye candy), that could be more in-line with Proton's pricing strategy and therefore make up the lower ranks of the future 2nd gen X70 line-up.

It actually won't get the plug in hybrid. Apparently these old Geely nameplates like Boyue will be relegated to ICE and mild hybrid only. Geely just created the Milky Way/Galaxy sub-brand and all future Geely PHEV and EVs will either be badged Geely Galaxy or Geely Geometry, kind of like Hyundai Ioniq an VW ID line of cars. The PHEV version of the Boyue L is already starting production, it will just be sold as the Galaxy L7. The L7 is clearly a badge engineered version of the Boyue, especially from the side, but has a slightly upgraded front/rear fascia and interior.
@DrinkingStar Жыл бұрын
Thanks for this update. Where can I find the info about the Galaxy L7? I bought Geely stock back in the 1990s right after they stopped making refrigerators and started cars.

@@DrinkingStar There is some news about it on English sites, but most coverage is probably in Chinese since it is mainly a Chinese domestic market product.
