The Brabant Murders was a crime spree that lasted from 1981-1985 and in that time span, 28 people were murdered by a violent group of men that the media dubbed "The Brabant Killers" consisting of three men "The Giant" "The Killer" and "The Old Man". What stood out to investigators though is that with all of this violence created, little money was ever actually taken, yet the victim numbers continued to increase. Was this a sadistic act of rage or was there something else that drove these men to commit these crimes.

A couple of years ago a dying man confessed -in his last words to his brother- that he was the giant. This dying man was a member of the national police and also part of an elite assault-unit but was fired from that unit right before the robberies started. A lot of clues point also in this direction. - He was taking days off the days the robberies happened - His built fit the profile - Witnesses told the police that the giant was limping while the last robberie happened. The man confessing to be the giant also had his foot injured at that time. Because the lack of hard evidence the police is still not convinced, but his own family definitely is.

Hmm. About halfway through, I was thinking "This sounds like terrorism rather than robbery", but terrorism normally involves someone claiming credit in order to achieve political ends. Your interpretation that it was mostly about creating the appearance of a crime-ridden nation answers that objection. Makes a lot of sense.

hello fellow Belgian here, what you are saying about "the Brabant killers" aka "the bende van Nijvel" is extremely interesting, allow me to give some info i know: 1) the gang had connections with the "rijkswacht" (some kind of "sheriff" that are above the police, after 1985 they were replaced by police and Europol) thanks to those connections they got there hands on a lot of weapons and knowledge regarding police training, 2) there is a movie made of the gang, it is named "niet schieten", you may not find a lot about it because the Belgian movie industrie is very local and special, it is a good movie, 3) saying that it might be politically "supported" is a VERY serieus thing to say, because of its severity, yet it is a good theory, 4) to this day we know almost nothing about them and most people that might knew something died, 5) fun fact, recently (2017-2018) local "magnet-fishers" found guns in a nearby canal, in the beginning they thought they were of the gang but later they came to the conclusion that is wasn't, 6) you said "Brabant" and the name of the stores wrong :) np, just funny

As a Belgian I can confirm the big majority of your docu to be true, including your conclusion. Great idea to look at election dates, didn’t hear that angle before. However, to understand the story you should know the Gendarmerie and normal police were both operating as police at that time. Gendarmerie had a military background and considered themselves to be higher up the rank but in practise both services collided regularly. After the killings, Belgium had a police reform which is the official ‘lesson learned’ from the killings at a political level. As wel as the fact our police services got much more heavily armed and more hostile towards the civilian population. You can say we kind of merged both by militarising our street level police forces. Its vital for understanding the story to know the MO of the Brabant killers is pretty much exactly the same as official Belgian military/gendarmerie training back then. The ambushes against the police were the ones our military was taught. Likewise, as you mentioned, the weapons stolen (multiple cases) were the ones reserved for the Belgian Gendarmerie, since the police force only got much lighter weapons back then. They didn’t just know where to find them (when) but it was quite common for the killers to walk in unopposed. I believe to have learned at least once how even the doors to the depot were unlocked while nobody was there to guard those weapons. The political motive seems to be clear, as well as the party. CVP has traditionally been the party in power. They ruled almost uninterrupted by being the one to form coalitions with the alternating biggest opposition parties. Within CVP, the ‘CEPIC’ got created. An extreem-right wing fraction that wanted to push back democracy. The same party tried to commit a coup-d’etat during the seventies. Something that got only denied last minute, I believe in ‘73. Another chilling detail I think to remember from reading about the case is how a list of witnesses who wanted to cooperate with police got ‘confirmed’ by the Brabant killers. All people from that list got killed by the gang in seperate ‘random’ killings. Partly during those super marked raids. If you want to understand the full picture, there might be something much closer to home in for you. All of this seems to be part of the wider ‘Operation Gladio’ that officially never happened in Belgium. We did acknowledge the fact it was active in Belgium, but no details were made public of what this organisation was responsible for. Luxemburg and Italy however were more transparent and did uncover some horrific examples of what that operation was doing in the shadows of European democracies. We’re talking about a CIA operation that feared communism so hard, they embraced what was left of fascism and tried to turn that around in some vigilante paramilitary ‘stay-behind’ networks. Officially meant to overturn the country if Russia would ever invade Belgium. In reality used to deny socialism and especially communism to gain any popularity in Europe. Which was quite difficult if you consider the efforts both Russia and the communist parties of European nations had done during Nazi occupation in WWII. Communist parties were especially popular in France and in Italy. Parallel with those paramilitary shadow operations, political action was taken as well. Leftist parties were denied media-attention while the extreem-right became normalised. Especially Flemish media became more and more interested in covering the extreem right and in trying to normalise them. Which eventually led to ‘black sunday’, in 1989 when the nastiest party gained massively. To safe face and deny any responsibility, more traditional parties were quick to plead never to form any coalition with this most extreme party. Something that got referred to as the ‘cordon sanitaire’. Not legally binding at all, it is merely some kind of gentlemans agreement. At the same time however, media and politics kept on mentioning this party as if it was vital to do so when taking about politics. While they kept on denying the (actual) left any publicity. Nowadays, a ‘light’ version of this extreme-right party has emerged as well. And both of them are being presented by the media as if we would live in a two party system. The most extreme one thrived from the fact they never had to take any responsibility by being denied public functions. More secretive functions like executive positions in state media however did still go to representatives from this party. This placed them in the unique position to be able to sabotage the Belgium democratic system while at the same time acting like the most effective opposition against that same system. At the same time, the ‘light’ version of this extreme right movement got accepted into coalitions where they could sabotage the policy itself. Since media is very friendly to them, at the same time they too try to exploit this by criticising their own coalition parties policies since they were dragged into this self sabotage. More and more media try to frame Flemish politics into a choice between extreem right or the Alt Right light. They are not flanked by terrorist support at the moment, but they did manage to eventually control the big Flemish media outlets. Since they naturally collaborate with the Alt Right, they have acces to an army of trolls on social media as well. However, the majority of Flemish Belgians see through this. And although it’s soon to call, this pandemic seems to have made even more people aware of that. The biggest problem we had and still have is how centrists from other parties seem to be more easily confused and believe how those extreme right ideas would have become mainstream. Together with the fact they did and still do help with sabotaging the country. Sorry, just realising I’ve written so much and still manage to forget to point out one crucial detail. Both extreme right parties mentioned favour the most populated region in Belgium. The Dutch-speaking Flemish part. They use this nationalist facade to obscure the underlaying extreem-right agendas. They wanted to only prove the concept of ‘Belgium’ wrong by sabotaging Belgian politics, but forgot to do any efforts for the Flemish region meanwhile. Which made them sabotage both the Belgian and Flemish political level. Imo this might be the main reason why especially this pandemic might have convinced even more people to see through their charade.

Their tactical approach was developed in belgian "tactical shooting clubs". These were unique in Europe as they allowed citizens to practise offensive drills, which in other countries are monopolised by the police. In other words you could practise incognito. A detail that is frequently omitted is that a police officer in all likelihood shoot and fatally wounded one of them as they were speeding away from their last attack.

Within our long history of unsolved terrorism cases, there is the "Uno Bianca" case which is identical to Brabant (24 victims) . 5 of the 6 robbers were policeman and they got all caught but families of the victims still claim the truth about plausible institutional implications didn't come out completely . We had many different bombing attaks in the 70-80-90's related to the so called "strategia del terrore"(which is what is explained at the end of the video) and connected to deviant intelligence services.

Way too late for the vid of course, but I do have a note: After the first "wave" the Belgian police where ordered to keep on guard at grocery stores that had a chance to get hit, these officers where only allowed to leave during the switch of guard and after closing time of the store, making sure that the area was secure. In one occasion the officers where ordered to leave while the store was still open. Later that day the store got robbed. Another occasion, where the police was ordered to stand down from guard. Not from an area, but from 1 specific store. 72h later, that store was robbed.

Stumbled upon your channel yesterday and I must say that you have me writing information down and that's unusual for me to do... it's a good thing haha.. You don't make the content longer just to get more viewing time and I appreciate that very much. Your content is very interesting and captivating to those willing to pay close attention to your narrative. Keep up the good work. The only word of constructive criticism that I would give you is to maybe decrease speech velocity, just a bit, in order to aid listeners in the digestion and comprehension of all the information you are providing. Other than that, VERY GOOD WORK! Thanks for making my day more interesting at work haha

This is just a resume of 17 minutes. The real mystery of the Brabant Killers is in the details. For example ; much of the 'random' customer-victims who fell at the attacks on the warehouses (Leon Finné, married couple Fouréz-De Wit, Van Camp...) were in one or other way all connected to each other or through politics or financial affaires. So were they just 'unlucky for being at the wrong place at the wrong time or was everything set up ? Both outcomes are mindblowing.

"De bende van Nijvel" was named after the first killings in Nijvel where they killed a man and a woman who just happened to stop there to fill up on gas. Even though most sources only mention the three people you mention as well , there were actially more members reported by witnesses. A man named C.B. in the press presumably confessed to be "The giant" to a friend on his deathbed. His claim was ignored by police, but was seriously investigated by journalists who made a pretty compelling case for him actually speaking the truth with known facts of the case lining up perfectly with specific dates and places that were indesputably linked to C.B. According to witnesses who spoke with journalists, The killer was killed during the robbery in Aalst on november 9th. To this date belgian police will not confirm this fact and have not released a name.. Leaving "the chauffeur" as the only unknown and unnamed member to this date. The huge number of "mistakes" made in the investigation, the transfer of many detectives working on the case to other cases and the assignment of rookie detectives to take over their place, leads many to believe that there was a force working against the investigators to solve this case, and many believe that this came from within the policeforce. The groups you named , their political affiliations and the fact that they had so many policemen in their ranks, has been the cause of many conspiracy theories but none, to this day, have been proven to be accurate, yet. A dutch crime reporter who also worked on the Natalee Holloway case called Peter R de Vries has done a lot of good journalistic work and has come upon a lot of revelations of facts which were first denied, but later proven to be true, around this case and he said that when he worked on this case, he could not go anywhere in Belgium without being tailed by Belgian police. He was constantly being stopped for bogus reasons and it got so bad that at some point he could not do any work in belgium himself anymore and had to send assistants and switch assistants constantly.. Something (aside from the grusome crimes) about this case stinks, and stinks like thirty year old bacon..

the theories that surfaced in the years afterwards, that Vanden Eynde had been brutally tortured, crucified, beaten to an inch of his life before death, etc. most of these are just rumors... a second autopsy, based on photos and notes of the original, was published in 2007, and included no details of mutilations or sacrificial offerings. The man was shot not tortured

i rarely comment on youtube but i just can't stop thinking that similar events happened in my homeland, it surprised me how this happened in a first world country, and for the same exact motivation, a police/millitary controlled country, there was even a period of our history we call it the "black decade" from 1990 up to 2000's where continuous series of mass murders, bombings, kidnappings, and torture kept the people in a living nightmare, again politically motivated by a group of terrorists, and they succeeded unfortunately
