In 1998, university student Katarzyna Zowada vanished without a trace. When she was discovered, the fallout would not only grip the country of Poland by storm but begin an investigation that is still on going to this day.

I tried looking it up but there was scant info in English... From what I gathered, she was a 20 yr old student when was srxyallly assaulted and strangled then washed up on a riverbank, it went unsolved for a long time which later turned out to be because of active police sandbagging of the investigation. Eventually they got the perp, who was also linked to at least 2 more bodies. Further, 18 law enforcement and judicial figures were prosecuted for orchestrating s coverup. Does that at all sound like what you're referring to?

The music is perfect, it isn’t heavy handed horror, which becomes trite and insensitive. Rather it’s calm, pensive and fits both the sensitivity of the content and the nature in its way, without being dark or insensitive.

totally agree. true crime discussed online nowadays is so insensitive - an example being people doing their makeup while discussing murders of actual people? it just feels like people are so far removed from how awful these situations are and the respect for the victims is obsolete.

I’ve always considered myself to have pretty thick skin when it comes to topics like this; my morbid curiosity has left me desensitized to the horrible acts people are sometimes capable of. However, to date, there is one particular case that sticks with me always, where I still have tremendous difficulty wrapping my head around the fact that “humans” (if you can even call them that) could be capable of something so vile. That is the case of Junko Furuta. I do not recommend looking into it if you’re unfamiliar. The atrocities committed against that poor girl over the span of _44 fucking days_ are absolutely horrendous. The judge who presided over the trial, after hearing everything that was done to her, made a comment about how her spirit would most certainly be wandering the world in anguish for eternity, as no one who had such things done to them could possibly find peace in the afterlife. The entire situation is absolutely sickening. And to think that the young boys who committed such heinous acts got off with barely any consequences is even moreso. I will never be able to forget this case. I genuinely hope that the ones who did it are haunted by overpowering guilt for the rest of their miserable lives. They are truly the absolute scum of the earth. And regardless of what the judge believed, I really do hope more than anything that Junko was able to find peace in the next life, wherever that may be.

I heard this case awhile back and think the same now as I did then- this absolutely wasn't the first time whoever did this did something like this. There's no way, even statistically speaking, that they were able to skin a human being and make a human suit on their first try. However, as civilized as society is, even in the US we have people living on the "fringes"- people who aren't as missed, at least not in the eyes of law enforcement and practiced predators know how to seek out and identify these people so when many of them do go missing, it isn't common knowledge or the info isn't widespread. And if no one ever finds the bodies (or parts, jfc) then where's the crime? I'd say this happens even more so in Eastern European countries and other places with not necessarily less law enforcement but larger areas so its easier to dodge.

It is still, I think, one of the most shocking cases that happen in Poland. Sadly, the sentence won't bring Katarzyna back but it is good to give closure to the case. Also, kudos for trying to pronounce Katarzyna's name and surname (may she rest in peace). The "w" in her surname is pronounced like "v", and "y" in her name kinda like "y" in "system" or "syndrome", but otherwise you did a splendid job! I love hearing English speakers who actually try not to butcher Polish names, haha. I suspect the killer has experience with taxidermy. Removing the skin from animals and then sewing that skin onto a base is the sort of thing that could be considered practise for making a skin suit. I also suspect the killer was invesitaged for some other crime and believed the police had a warrant to search their property, which is why the killer disposed of the remains in a way that seems to have been poorly planned considering they were found. Someone who can hold someone hostage, torture that person, and then make a skin suit from their remains without being caught is someone who plans their crimes carefully. Yet they apparently chose "toss the remains in the water" as their method of disposal. It seems odd to me that they didn't attempt to burn the remains or dissolve them with some kind of acid. Maybe they knew better than to have evidence of something suspicious at their property when the police came to investigate.

Nope. They got the wrong guy. The real killer was a man named Vladimir. He killed her as well as his own father in the very same way with both bodies being surgically sown. His medical back round proved that he would be the only one to possess the surgical instruments ie murder weapons to commit the crime

What’s going on Cadaber, why am I seeing comments that supposedly have multiple replies but when I click to look, there’s none there? It says there are 77 comments on this video but I’m seeing way fewer than that. What’s up?

It's strange I did not hear about this case till recently, considering I'm from east of Czech republic and we wisit Poland and Krakow fairly often especially for their beautiful Christmas markets. Crime coverage in media here is really poor and all reports are always about weather or politics. Also in 99 I was 9, so maybe I missed it then 😃 but still as it is still ongoing I can't comprehend people are not talking about it more, since the killer could be active all these years 🤯

All these videos have "Shocking Story of XYZ" and this is one of the few times that it was genuinely shocking hearing what happened to this poor lady. Such an insane story.

Wait. He removed all her organs while she was alive, then she went into shock, then passed out, then she died of blood loss? I only finished pre-med but I PROMISE you that was not the order of events. It is literally impossible. I'm not saying this poor girl did not suffer horrifically or that this man is not an utter monster. I'm saying that to claim someone had their organs all removed without bleeding out--that more than one organ was removed without catastrophic bleeding--is just not possible. I nearly died from a 1½cm blunt force laceration on the *surface* of my liver. It is an incredibly vascular organ, as is the spleen and as are the kidneys. The intestines are fed by a network of mesenteric vessels that are insanely vascular also. Even if it was done surgically with clamps, she would have gone into shock immediately and could not have remained conscious for very long regardless of whether or not he was able to miss all the blood vessels in her abdomen. I'm assuming you aren't counting organs like the heart and lungs when you say, "all her organs" because it's pretty obvious she would not survive that. I know I sound like a pedantic twit--but I have two incredibly famous murders in my family, one on each side (I mean, one has it's own exhibit in the Smithsonian). Hearing the basic facts tossed out and sensationalized all the time is really quite a lot, let me tell you.

This is going to sound weird, but only the other day I was trying to think of a case I heard ages and ages ago about human skin being caught in the propeller of a boat but I could not think of what it was. And then I saw this video. So weird. Everything about this is weird and disturbing.
