Tom Brady and Bruce Arians have a divide in philosophy, and it could be their downfall.
Why Tom Brady ISN’T Washed: • Is Tom Brady STILL goo...
This week’s film breakdown analyzes the Tom Brady and Bruce Arians combination through week 15. When Brady signed in the offseason, many saw it as a strange fit, seeing as Arians has always loved to push the ball deep, while Brady has operated underneath. So far, the Buccaneers are 8-5 and their offense has been solid, but has struggled mightily against better defenses. What’s the issue, and can it be solved come playoff time? This episode uses the coaches all-22 game film to analyze the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Quarterback Tom Brady.

Their relationship reminds me of Brett Favre and Mike Holmgren's relationship during their first 2 seasons together. Mike wanted to play a fixed, controlled offensive game but Favre was the exact opposite, throwing the ball deep and playing with a reckless abandon. Holmgren eventually changed his scheme to adjust to Favre's style of play and they ended up winning a Super Bowl together. Brady has an immense knowledge of the game, probably bigger than Arians's, and if Arians decides to adjust his scheme to Tom's style of play and not have Tom adjust to his scheme, the results would be incredible.

At 5:54 - this isn't just Brady's fault on the near-INT. Evans allowed Ramsey to push him too far outside on the route. So, he wasn't in good position to make the catch. Fortunately, he was quick enough to defend the INT. Bucs were not fully in sync until 2nd half of the week 12 game vs KC. Looks like they fixed that in time to win the Super Bowl, tho.

Actually..Arians system is bad. That's why Winston threw so many INTs last year. The fact is Brady is an amazing deep ball thrower, and when they run a smart offense with hot reads, 'easy' options to stress the defense for first downs underneath, and play action from two TE sets, Brady is killing teams with the deep ball. The Bucs telegraph to defenses when they are going deep with Arians' concepts, which let's them dial up pressure, disguise coverage to let the pressure get home, and keep good leverage on the receivers. It's like he's designed his offense to fail and even with perfect execution the success rate will still be low on those plays.

BA reminds me of Mike Martz in the 2001 SB. MM said he will keep throwing the ball in the 2nd half as that's what got them there. The NEPatriots stayed in NICKEL (small players) & defended every pass. The Rams' D players stood on the sidelines & kept yelling to run the ball. MM kept his head down & pretended not to hear them. In the 2002 SB, the Raiders had the biggest O-line & game planned a running game. However the night before, Mike Callahan (ie Al Davis) changed the game plan to passing & the faster Bucs' D intercepted & ran up the score. The starting center for the Raiders was so distraught that he fled to Tijuana for a week the night before the game because he knew he would have to call out unfamiliar protections. Tim Brown & Jerry Rice disclosed this years later. ATTENTION BRUCE & BYRON & MR GM: NOW WE KNOW WHO TO BLAME & RUIN YOUR LEGACY & CAREERS IF YOUR TEAM FAILS TO MAKE OR LOSES IN THE PLAYOFFS.

More people should watch this. Brady is no longer in his prime and his lack of mobility is more of a limitation in today's NFL. But he is still capable of better than what he's shown on the Bucs so far. Brady haters blaming him and expecting ZERO adjustments from the head coach and OC (apparently, these people "never change their system" regardless of personnel), are simply stupid.

LOVE IT! As always! It's very interesting how the narrative in 2019 around Brady's next destination was largely about him getting control over the offense. Obviously, that did not happen. I wonder what Brady's perspective is on this. Obviously he has an elite PR team that coaches him on what he can and can't say publicly, but even on the sidelines it doesn't seem like there is conflict between him and Arians. Of all the QBs to be forced out of pre-snap reads, and forced into taking more hits than 80% of QBs, Brady is one of the worst candidates. He is excellent at reading pre-snap, and as he is in his later years, his reaction time is worsening and his priorities should be shifting toward quality of life after the league. My only thoughts are that 1. He likes the challenge of a new system, even if it is objectively worse 2. He wants to prove that he would be successful regardless of the QB system, so wants the Tampa Bay system to be differentiated from his old system as much as possible 3. He has been so used to good coaching that he underestimates the significance of coaching in offensive success 4. Tampa Bay is a super fun team to play for, even if they lose, so he is overall happy and (as a joke): 5 He loves the sound of "TOMPA BAY" 6 He is an old man and hates being cold so much it doesn't matter if he loses as long as he's warm ALSO: Reminder to everyone who reads this to write a comment on this video to improve it's rank on the KZbin algorithm!

The Bucs check the important boxes for him. Evans and Godwin. A GM/coach who are in win-now mode. A nice place to live, etc. He probably would've gone to the 49ers if it was offered, and with how injury prone and underwhelming Garoppolo has been, John Lynch might be regretting that decision. If the safeties hang back, and the corners play behind the receivers, you have a big numbers advantage on the short yardage throws. This is where Brady earned his bread and butter in NE, plus you neutralize the pass rush with a quick pass. It was reported before he signed with the Buccaneers that he would have a say in the offense's game plan. So if that was true in the first place, it is odd that he is trying to play in Arians offense and not at least what would seem to be a mix. I think Brady is taking on a new challenge and playing in this offense that has been successful with other players, but that is so different from what he has done before. Now, if that is all true, then there is a chance that come playoffs time the Bucs offense will become less BA's and more Brady's.

The Bucs would need an elite front four for Ariens' offence to be successful Brady could chew up any defence ten yards at a time with all this receiving talent. He can throw a 40 yarder once or twice per quarter ant day
@lynskyrd

the math is simple... How many times has Tom Brady led his team to championships vs. how may times has Bruce Ariens, as a head coach, led his team to championships --> DISCUSSION OVER - do it Tom's way. Quick tempo, dink & dunk, mixed with play action and an occasional shot down the field once the D starts playing the short field. With a respectable running game- this is a winning formula EVERY TIME. It's worked for almost 20 years. Bruce is in over his head. Rex Ryan said it best "You have Tom Brady... ACT LIKE IT!"

Arians is simply an old dog who can’t learn new tricks. When you are a stubborn coach who can’t adjust your predictable game plan, your days are limited as a coach. BA is the main reason this team won’t even win a wildcard game.

Sometimes you CANNOT teach an old dog new tricks. Even if those tricks you have have worked and made you a 6 times superbowl champion. The Bucs need to hire Josh McDaniels from Patriots to be their next season headcoach.

This is a great example of something that's been plaguing the NFL for a while now. Aaron Rodgers' NFL story is he was drafted while Favre was there, then the coaches left Favre to train him. Favre refused, but Rodgers learned a *lot* from just observing him play & was élite in his rookie year. Peyton Manning was bad even by rookie standards his first year. Drew Brees was almost not given a second chance. Russell Wilson succeeded despite all this. Coaches are looking at QBs as automatically knowing everything & wondering why they ever fail at all. Arians thinks they are plug & play devices. So does Andy Reid. & as such, the coaches are making mistakes normally only fans whose memories are about fifteen seconds long make: assuming everything wrong with the QB is the QB's fault. Outside of Doug Pederson, is _any_ coach acting like a responsible adult lately? (Ironically, Pederson lost his job to the One QB who refused to listen to his counsel. & Mike McDaniels just lost that responsibility title with his response to Tua's horrible injury). Every single last coach is playing like office politics matters most. & they're not *_ALL_** working* for Dan Snyder. It has becomes a coward's paradise. Jameis Winston is nearly the epitome of this. He panics even when there's no need. There's good reason. His coaches just tell him to keep doing what isn't working, then blaming him for their failures. They're like a bunch of ten-year-olds who do not take the D into consideration even during games. They simply ignore what the D is doing because it's not something they can deal with. Arians won't allow Brady to read the D because his tiny mind doesn't comprehend the necessity. He just keeps sending his wind-up toy soldiers forward expecting nothing but open field along the way. Their egos blind them. It's sad. How many more games is Hackett gonna cost Denver before they realize he _and_ his staff are really high-school level oiks who must have faked their c.v.s?

Bruce Arians needs to give Phil Jackson a call (who coached Jordan). Perhaps he could call Tony Dungy (who coached Peyton). He has no clue how to let a superstar lead. He took Brady out at the half, and tells Brady what to do. He's clueless.
