Wtih *autism* except for maybe Khan. Corvus in his demon state would murder the high lords, inquisition and decimate the bureacracy that has somehow kept the imperium together, effectivelly destroying the imperium in his rampage. Leman is Leman, asuming he doesn't go full Corvus from the start he will after he hears about the months of shame. Lion is the best case besides Girliman, but he is still autistic and has no charisma. He is more suited for Warmaster than acting emperor. The moment he tries to take over, the high lords and various factions of the imperium will try to depose him. Unlike Guilliman who plans for this things, Lion would go on a murder spree the moment they betray him and potentially nuke Terra in a major war in order to seize power. Vulcan was one of the last primarchs to dissappeared and didn't do anything to prevent the shit show that is the current imperium. He simply doesn't care for politics and has no ambition for power or been in charge of the imperium. Rogal is the most autistic of them all, he can't read people and is completely incapable of comprehending a situation that can't be solved through fortifications. This is not a TTS meme Rogal is really that derpy, I don't think he ever knew how much Perturabo hated him until after the heresy and his oppinions on complicated political matters is basically "Well if daddy said so..." He problably won't even question the state of the imperium, but would love to reunite his chapter. Basically Guilliman was the one primarch the imperium needed the most.

I think one of the best things about Prospero is the character arc of Leman. He is one Primarch that genuinely grows as a character throughout the Heresy due to his regret over killing Magnus and by Wolfsbane he becomes at least to me one of the best characters in 40k as a whole and to me the best Primarch. It's amazing how much growth Russ goes through over the course of Prospero Burns, Wolf King and Wolfsbane. And I think it can be seen best in his Primarch novel where we see him during Great Crusade and after Horus Heresy, showing just how much he changed.

@@PuddingXXL If you read only A Thousand Sons it may seem like that, but I recommend you to read Prospero Burns, Russ's novel, Wolf King and Wolfsbane. Those really well develop Russ's character into someone great. You may also add Two Methaphysical Blades to that which also taps into Russ's relationship with Valdor. And remember. Sons and Ahriman were using literal Daemons (Tutelaries) as familiars and Thousand Sons were using Warp for things like cleaning their guns, they were by all means using too much of the Warp, their intentions were good, but they were REALLY misguided and I can't say it was unfounded to try to stop them from going deeper into this rabbit hole. EDIT: BTW, you can clearly see that Wyrdmake would be not on Ahriman's side considering how he and his wolf apparently reacted to their Daemons. The entire book on re read REALLY changes your perception on what Thousand Sons are doing. Wyrdmake's betrayal is sad, but it's not unfounded considering how irresponsible, naive and downright ignorant Sons were.

@@AzraelSoulHunter thank you for saying this the wolves may not have been saints but the thousand sons were far from being clean with the tutelaries and using the warp for everything like you said but also they looked at and treated anyone without psychic powers the way the Eldar view humanity and basically said their ideal future was one where everyone was a psychic used the warp for everything and either befriend or enslave the entities of the warp because the believed they were the masters of everything. Also the whole wyrdmake thing does leave a sour taste in the mouth it only went that way because he wanted to see if the rumors about the thousand sons were true or not (which most of them were) and his friendship with ahriman could have been genuine had ahriman not shown him some of their secrets that even he admitted crossed some lines once wyrdmake saw all this was when he saw the sons as a lost cause. Plus after the council of nikea not only did the thousand sons ignore the verdict they doubled down on what they were doing even stepping up the training of the psychicly gifted remembrancers assigned to them because they were convinced they could prove the verdict wrong and they would be vindicated. The last one is what turned me from the thousand sons completely and wiped away most of the pity I could have for them.

I feel like you forgot that Magnus accepting death wasn't just out of self-loathing or misguided penance but also out of a genuine desire to see his legion destroyed rather than fall to Tzeentch. Consider that in the current setting with the Thousand Sons are broken into individual cabals and warbands and the vast majority of them mindless husks they're still a powerful weapon for Chaos. Now imagine the entire legion not only unified against the Emperor but willingly empowered by the Warp. Even if they all stayed pure, which is unlikely (just loom at the Death Guard for legions that fell despite really not wanting to) then Tzeencth just has to corrupt their geneflaws one at a time. A legion of sorcerers is good, but a legion of chaos spawn is still something Tzeentch would want. So Magnus chooses to lose. Only he can't. He can't just sit there while every one of his soldiers and sons die. So he goes out to save what he knew needed to be destroyed, only it's too little too late and he loses everything, including himself.

So Magnus in an attempt to warn the Emperor of Horus's betrayal breaks the edicts of the Council of Nikea. In turn breaking the Emperor's web way project. Which greatly displeased the Emperor. So he sent fleets from I'm assuming Terra (Custodes/SoS) and the Space Wolves fleet from wherever in the galaxy it was. And these fleets were able to rendezvous in the vast emptiness of space, and then they were intercepted by Horus's fleet. Have their orders changed. Then continue to Prospero and destiny...All this before Horus was even close to Terra. Heck, neither of the Istvaan incidents have happened yet. Given that it seems like Magnus had plenty of time to make it to Terra in more conventional ways.

I recently read the Thousand Sons novel and if I understood it correctly, Magnus had been communing with Tzeentch since before he was even physically born. He didn't know it was Tzeentch however, merely a friendly warp entity. And the whole reason that Magnus was such a powerful psyker was because he had struck a deal with Tzeentch before being born.

Well for my opinion heres my take Magnus despite his naivety to the warp was quite smart about it and hell before the heresy he WARNED lorgar not to go down the same path he was going I believe magnuses temporary fix wasnt him getting fucked by tzeench at the start, instead its likely it was a ritual that attracted tzeenchs attention and not Magnus directly talking to the indecisive fuck. What REALLY dropped magnus into dammnation was 2 things,magnus being sharded and the emporors offer Now because Magnus was made of psychic energy regardless,he was very sensitive to warp bullshit,and when leman bane style spine cracked Magnus,the damaged he recieved earlier became the breaking point and magnus was sharded when he and arhiman joint casted a quick gettaway. Now if he didnt get claimed by tzeench,this probably would have benched him for the heresy as a loyalist but it means the thousand sons stayed loyal,but would slowly die out until the emporor either purifies magnus and putting him back together or something like that. What actually turned magnus to chaos was when crimson king tried getting his shard back and magnus as a whole was offered a chance to come back,but likely take big es place on the throne,but the big e,had no desire to let the thousand sons continue as is,and would not let his legion as a whole be redeemed, despite some of them are,my guess is because of the webway incident if he said yes,tzeench would kill the thousand sons either way,refusing to abandon the legion he fought,studied and bled with,magnus said no,and accepted chaos to at least try salvage his legion. Had russ not be blinded and listened to valdor and the big e be more open to magnus,prospero would not be razed

the burning of Prosero is pretty much 40k's equivalent of order 66 and the fall of the Jedi. Magnus just like Anakin gets blamed solely for this yet when you actually look at the full context and the entire picture literally EVERYONE was at fault for the Jedi's downfall and the burning of Prospero regardless of what side you where on.

Kind of made me think. Blanks are very rare, and technically, a psycher can just throw a boulder at them or shoot them. An Astarte Psycher, is a lot stronger than normal Astarte. Makes me wonder what casualties had the wolfs had, attacking a legion like that.

Though, against barriers, warpfire, things like that, surely it would be useful. It's just weird attacking people with such powerful magical abilities, that can do Astartes like paper, so weirdly, in such a super advantageous position. In a siege, very fortified world, with magic defenders. Everything is so heavily stacked against the attackers. Probably most of their legion left their fang there.

It was high, and at the end one whole Great Company chased the Thousand Sons into the Warp and was lost. Meaning some 10,000 or more marines were just lost. In deaths most of the Great Companies were decimated, but there were enough the Wolves could still fight. In the end though, the Thousand Sons lost far more than the wolves by volume. And lost there whole world.

Space Wolves are the best chapter no joke and this is coming from an Imperial Fist. They never fall to the warp. They never dishonor their All-Father. I don't know what's more gangster- Leman beating Horus in a duel or the pack of Astartes that swarmed Horus dying to protect their Father as he fled after refusing to kill Horus. Oh, and I've got an idea for a video I'd love to see. In the forge world codices (which we are assured are canon) there's references to the Triad (or Triumverate or some other word that means 3). These 3 are the Wolves, The Salamanders, and the Alpha Legion. They had significant one on one time with the Big E and Malcador and were supposed to serve some special functions which they were trained for. Oh, and this is also mentioned in the Scars book (i believe) when the wolves are being harried by the Alpha Legion, Russ desperately wants to get in a room with Alpharius because he needs to understand why hed turn his back on the imperium when he served this special role. The AL were the Judges, they were supposed to figure out who the traitors were (like an Astartes inquisition). The Salamanders were supposed to be the Jury, not really sure what this was supposed to entail but presumably it would be them that needed convincing of another legions guilt because they were so chill and cuddly and reasonable The wolves as we know were meant to be the executioners which is a function, they've done quite a few times (with varying intelligence and success). Worth exploring anyway IMO as the only function that's fleshed out is the Wolves (and even then, only partially as its likely they took out at least one of the two lost legions).

Did anyone read Outcast Dead? Apparently Magnus' message was received after the Imperium found out about the Heresey. So when Horus contacted contacted Russ to push him toward genociding Prospero, he was already known to be a traitor, and Magnus psychic message which was meant to be quicker than warp travel was completely pointless (he had at least a couple of years to make the journey by ship)... BEST... BOOK.... EVER !!!!

The story of that book was incredible. I haven’t found a movie yet that could duplicate being put into such a fantastic scenario…. Several prisoners of different legions, some yet to be traitor, team up against a couple of legendary soldiers from the past. I had always thought thunder warriors were just inferior and weaker space marines. But then I always get reminded that things in Warhammer past are always bigger and meaner.

Yeah no, it's all Leman's fault. Magnus' breach of the edict may have been the reason the censure host was dispatched, yet had literally anyone else been in charge it would've ended peacefully. His orders from the Emperor were to bring Magnus back to terra. Horus convinced Leman to instead kill Magnus, much to the chagrin of both Valdor and Bjorn. Neither the Emperor nor Horus told Leman to *burn Magnus' entire homeworld to the ground and slaughter his entire legion.* Magnus may not have been helping the situation by going for complete radio silence, but Leman's bloodthirst and hypocritical disdain for psykers was completely at fault for the Thousand Sons turning against the Imperium. Leman's demands for Magnus' surrender was basically just him yelling and crying at Kasper Hawser (who had literally no connection to the Thousand Sons) believing for whatever reason that Magnus could somehow hear directly through Kasper, and after getting no reply (for obvious reasons) he just decided "cowabunga it is" and decided to massacre the entire planet's population and the Thousand Sons legion, as well as Magnus. Had literally any other primarch, or Valdor, been in charge, Magnus would've remained loyal. Had Leman not decided "kill Magnus" meant "genocide Magnus' world and legion", the only casualty would've been Magnus.

It was ahrimans fault. Russ sent a message begging magnus to give hinself in. He was still willed to take him to custody despite the orders from horus so he was willed to disobey the warmaster. Magnus also wanted to turn himself in but ahriman called all captains and ranks to refuse the order to stand down and set up the defences ready to attack anyone who dared closing in. Something the wolves took as a declaration of war

In defense of the choice to send the wolves: the Grey Knights didn’t exist at this point, so the wolves were the closest thing to an anti-psyker legion that the imperium had thanks to their natural resistance to warp shenanigans. The wolves and the sisters of silence stood the best chance of not getting fucked by the TSons warp powers if they decided to resist being summoned to Terra.

The Thousand Sons were doomed as soon as Magnus bargained his eye for the solution to the flesh change. The flesh change was coming from the future in which the Thousand Sons belonged to Tzeentch anyway so there was really nothing that could have happened differently since Astartes were mutating before they even found Magnus.

Oculus Imperia might be a biased source (or maybe not, I literally don't know), but the Space Wolves looked really bad on Prospero. The Thousand Sons screwed up early on by not opening lines of communication *immediately* but the Space Wolves dropped in (against the advice of Valdor, btw) and started slaughtering civilians.

Russ did try to communicate with Magnus. Later he found a spy that he thought was Magnus' spy and told him to tell Magnus that they are here to capture him, but it wasn't Magnus' spy but one of traitors (as far as I recall he was from Horus). Magnus also spied on Russ with warp magic by sending his soul/projection to Russ' ship he witnessed there Russ making plan to attack, but Magnus didn't decided to talk to Russ and tell him that he will surrender. Also Space Wolves were send because they were the legion that had the greatest immunity to warp.

I have a genuine question for you to implore, Lord Kill. The emperor, supposedly perpetual, should be able to regenerate but cannot when he is clearly the most powerful psyker around, enough to break Chaos Gods and make them quake as he burns their realm. Why can't he simply die and return as a perpetual prime, in his best form, as Guilliman has? I've been pondering it for a while now. What's stopping the emperor?
