Honestly, this is one of the saddest stories I've stumbled across in my KZbin true crime dives. She was older, on her own for the first time at that terminal, missed her bus, just wanted to make a wee... viciously murdered. That's just not right. I mean, murder is never right, but this just seems extra-wrong. And a woman would normally feel safer in a highly trafficked area. Safety in numbers, no? But just look at the number of people who were around, and noticed something off, saw something suspicious, heard screaming... and just went about their business? Being in a high-traffic, public place causes diffused responsibility. More people, less response. That poor, poor woman. I am so glad that her killer was eventually identified.
@AwfulDog14 жыл бұрын
Personally, I would never have gone to an isolated area at night. Not victim blaming, just because it increases your risk of these crimes.
@TheLastLockIn3 жыл бұрын
She needed the loo and had to wait 20 minutes for her next bus, not including the time to get home after that, that’s a long time for a 66 year old woman to wait.

Bit like bikes getting stolen in broad daylight when there are loads of people around. I was walking in London and I heard a DV incident in a house and people walked by thinking nothing and some were women. I did report it but I felt like I was the only one bothered. I have reported other DV incidents including my neighbours only to be told by the women to 'mind my own business'. So you can be abused if you report it too
@moxiemaxie35433 жыл бұрын
I live in the city and learned there isn't safety in numbers. People naturally assume someone else will take care of it , call police or "its none of our business and if we get involved we'd be in harms way". I can't get mad at people not physically interfering because it will get you killed trying to be a hero. Most people aren't equipped or trained for it. Also police tend to ignore calls. Ive called emergency services justice to watch police not show up an hour later. Ive been sexually assaulted on a train and not one man got up to help me. Ive watched a man beat his gf while the baby was in her arms. I called police just to watch cops slowly drive pass because they weren't assigned to the call and it was across the street from a hospital. It sucks how at the end of the day, its all circumstantial, humans are very flawed so nothing is consistent when it comes to safety

One thing that really annoys me is when someone is in prison for one thing and are then tried and found guilty for another and are given more years for that crime it should NOT run concurrently! Trust me, Bury bus station back then was creepy at night . Those toilets gave me the baddest vibes, I always refused to use them after the murder. But glad they have removed the toilets now, removed all traces of it. In fact I got to cut through the bus station tomorrow and have to go pass the spot where the toilets were.

The courts are far too lenient here in the UK, a life sentence tariff is generally a minimum of 8 years I believe
@katiecooper13873 жыл бұрын
He *WAS* given life. The minimum of 28+ years is just when parole can be discussed, but there is no guarantee nor probability that he will be released. I highly doubt this villain will ever get out of prison, especially since they *added* time onto his sentence.
@anniem2513 жыл бұрын
@@katiecooper1387 that’s good in terms of this case. But most prisons will give any excuse to have prisoners let out early because it’s too costly to keep them locked up. Many people with a life sentence get time removed for bogus things like ‘good behaviour’
