I was looking at the life cycle of bugs for fly fishing, and I find this video spot on. Simple and with great examples. Now I will go to the bench and start tying these patterns to have ready in my next trip.

First off i would like to say "Thank You". I am new to fly fishing and this video helped me out so mutch. Two things you said helped me land a bunch of fish. 1.if thay were jumping out of the water its prob after a caddis. 2.caddis look like little moths. With that info i was able to see what was going on around me and dialed it in.I tied on an Elk Hair Caddis and had my best dry fly day ever.Mad River Ohio

I usually fly fish lakes and small ponds, as there are no adequate rivers around me. What should i use in each season? I was going to buy a starter kit for trout and some poppers for bass. But, all i see around the lakes are small mayflies and i still dont catch fish on the little flies i have.
