Don't think that way. The automotive market in Australia is much more inclusive compared to the U.S. and Canada. In Australia, you can buy a car from China and import it to Canada legally for road use. However, this is not possible in the U.S. and Canada. The government doesn’t allow people to import cars for personal use.

Especially for the battery component, the US government does not allow American companies to use Chinese batteries. So they may not be able to launch Chinese market models in the United States. Therefore, the vote is not omnipotent, but the gun is omnipotent. Haha.

@@Afy62 This is the unique case in China: the crazy emission standard that charges super high tax on combustion engines is turning almost every new ICE car in China into garbage. The most powerful engine GM has in this market now is the 2.0T LSY/LXH: a really weak engine that takes 9 seconds for 0-100 kph acceleration on this 'all-new' XT5. Therefore, PHEV is ergently needed as alternative to restore the power, this applies to both lower end and higher end. The global GM, however, is quite slow or even not willing to make this change to its global lineup and so they are totally losing the game in China.

You're wrong. The whole world doesn't need affordable cars. For example, my Mercedes-Benz door broke, and in Canada, I paid about $11,140 for repairs. The same issue in China only cost me $700 to fix at a Mercedes service center. At a private repair shop, it only cost $278. So the idea that Americans need affordable cars is a misconception. Decades ago, sports cars were selling very well in the U.S., but now their sales are very low, and people are choosing Japanese and Korean cars. Is it that people no longer want to buy sports cars? Not really. It's just that people are getting poorer and can't afford them anymore, so they have to settle for more affordable options.

Judging by the popularity of SUVs like the Chevrolet Suburban and Equinox, affordability isn't the issue. I think Cadillac lacks the brand cachet of the German competitors, which Americans now prefer. And there are permium-segment brands competing on value like Acura and Genesis, so Cadillac faces competition there too.

Cadillac these days have in decline for years due to lack interest for better premium luxury brands.. I mean just look at the thing. That's a Cadillac? It looks so cheaply made. Yes, it's just one persons opinion....but c'mon! General Motors is known to cut corners everywhere, . Bad wiring, body sharing platforms, rebranding models with no distinguishing characteristics, and break down faster than it rolled of the dealership. The body itself looks like it has only $40 Dollars worth of steal, the upholstery was put together with the worst generic material, and nothing spectacular of a SUV that looks like a step above a Chevy SUV. They ranked sixth in the luxury brand mark in the U.S. and awards are becoming rare for them to win. Long gone are the days when Cadillac was superior like in the 40s,50s, and 60s that's for sure.
