@@Monie71793 🙄🙄🙄 nothing is "shoved down my throat" all right? I enjoy listening to her breakup songs bc they are one of the best written songs of all time. Besides only 44% of her discography are songs dealing with breakups. She has written songs about her mom's cancer, her high school friend's eating disorder, a 4yo boy who died of cancer, but you wouldn't know about them BC the media does not hype these songs up as much as they do with her songs about breakups

Your comment made me realise - we generally only give credit to people who set trends with their work, as if it takes less to create something if you're not perceived to be the very first to do it. In an artistic context especially, that's absolute rubbish - firstly because most of the people we think of as 'the first' are not, but also because I think it's probably just as difficult to produce something of quality no matter if your core idea is super original or not The idea that anybody deserves less credit for adapting themselves to whatever is currently relatable is poopy nonsense. I bet it takes a lot of work to write a good song, a good album, a good story - whether you're leading the zeitgeist or not.

Yes exactly the media kept that image of her when reputation came out of her “trying to put back an act and or a comeback of this woman trying to hang on to her career” but in reality that album was such a sad and in a way the meaning of a beautiful thing that came out of the ugliest and most disgusting thing. She did speak her mind and called out overall what they shamed her but she didn’t lie or use lyrics that were over the top. Like in I did something bad she didn’t over reacting they literally said she was the worst person and that she needs to behaved. She danced about it and owned to it bc she knew she hadn’t done anything wrong she was a normal human with imperfections so than “yes I guess I did something bad but it felt good”. Delicate was also such a heartfelt song with the beginning of “my reputation has never been worst so you must like me for me” literally a heartbreaking lyric but also reeled with hope. To me reputation in a way was her most romantic and heartfelt album.

@@marsdes6856 I think it's a mix with misogyny and valid backlash over her need to curate her personality. One thing the video didn't mention is how many times her team would go after the people of colour who were calling out white supremacism but took years before actually denouncing the white supremacists that were claiming her. It's unfair to blame that entirely on her, but it's clear that for years she would have been fine getting away with saying nothing if she kept making money. Then there was also the whole copying Beyonce thing using marching bands and a leotard as if that isnt Beyonces stage standard. And ofcourse it was denied aggressively when honestly it would have made more sense for her to pay homage to Bey and cut Kanye from the middle entirely. @@mynameisuju first of all, it took her years to denounce the white supremacists who claimed her because she just started her career, she's not that powerful and we all know what would happen to her if she does. Also back in 2016, she's cancelled to the point everyone want her dead for something she never done, for something she never wanted to be part of, she's manipulated by someone named Kanye using the racial narrative. That time she's hated because she's white and that she's the bad guy because she's white. People stating she's trying to bring down a black man by using her privilege as a white woman and that she's playing the victim. AFTER SO MANY YEARS SHE'S PROVEN THE REAL VICTIM. Second, that marching band thingy doesn't came from Beyoncé, she already used that on her You Belong With Me MV in 2009, that ain't Beyoncé's brand, Madonna used that before her, someone used that before Madonna. No one owns the idea of marching bands. Third, I'm sorry if you felt the need to be pushed out by racist who felt comfortable liking her out loud, but I don't know why liking her out loud is some kind of wrong act? Please enlighten me. Even with her hits people do not pay much attention to the lyrics because the beat is incredibly catchy but once you do pay attention, you discover this amazing lyricists who you may or may not relate to but one thing Will stand out... her honesty in her writing that tells you this picture story so vividly that you can’t help but to keep on listening to see what happens next.

I honestly relate to that,, but with different artists.. It's indeed a beautiful point to stan an artist; to appreciate them, not just bcz of their artistry (which is the first thing they should be appreciated from), but also their humane side.. I love Tay, I love some of her music, so I'm a fan; but that's it. I got these many rumors abt her attitude & friendship, so it made me doubtful of her. But didn't really try to find the truth, bcz didn't really care abt it. I enjoy her music, & know nothing abt stan-life, so that's it. Now I have artists that I really love & stan for,, so I know that ur points are valid & simply beautiful.. All in all,, I'll see her more to understand her better. I already know Tay is the Queen & deserves to be respected.. so, half-way there, I guess

Also I get why you would take a step back from getting into all the drama that surrounds her, if you indeed are giving it a second chance, let me tell you that her attitude is always sweet, us as fans can see the differences from when she first started to now and there are differences (ofcs) but her personality has always been the same (dorky with dry humor, loving, cheerful, and very very thankful) with her friends, yes she’s had a notorious squad that “disappeared” (not really, she’s just more private now) and her bffs remain the same, Abigail (16yrs of friendship) Britney (who she met in kindergarten) Claire (tay is now her son’s godmother) and ofcs Selena (14 years of friendship) they all have said that she’s kind and genuine and careful to not only them but everyone else that comes in her life. Ofcs some friendships don’t last, people fall off and theres nothing wrong w that, no one is to blame. Anyways, who do you Stan? I love so many artist

@@Amy-jh6br Taylor is known for creating her own stuffs (Music); & plus, her Music is coming up quite often.. If it's not being called hardworking artist, then idk again!! And else,, u can't just diminish an artist just bcz u disagree with her view/works, or simply u don't vibe with her. She produces her own arts, & many ppl not just listen to it, but also love & follow her in the end; that should be meant something.. I understand what u meant abt it & ur gratitude towards anyone who respects her despite of not liking her Music,, bcz many ppl still disregard my artist as well!! No matter how many achievements they already achieved.. Abt the drama, Aren't us fans who pay attention to them more, know better abt them rather than non-fans? I know, there's a possibility that we aren't being objective abt someone we love, to see them always in this good-light, as if they have no flaw at all (bcz I know exactly the fans who are this way, even tho I can see that the artists are clearly not as genuine as they portrayed to be).. But also, some of us who see them more & objectively witnessing their genuine good sides etc, which the actual reason why we love & stan them (besides the Music that in-sync with our life & soul).. We might never know what's behind the close doors, but we always know that someone out there can easily create an unnecessary drama to bring our artists down.. Let me get u tips with this: Don't trust any news (or even read/click it. Bcz it's enough to feed those greedy & irresponsible so-called-journalists). Let Tay clarifies herself, by showing something/anything to u guys.. My fandom usually do this whenever rumors come, or even articles that taint our boys arts/career.. Since my fandom is huge & vocal (we have so many intelligent members in arts, cultural, Music, society, even laws who can seek every information regarding Music Industry & Cultural Movement), we can drive traffic & such thing; even criticize journalists hard & straight to their gut; so they can put it in their mind to be careful the next time they write abt our boys, bcz we have keen eyes And it also good to have a good company/agency who will always in Tay's side to give her protection, back-up, & all.. I think it's the hardest, isn't it? I was there (twt) when she complained abt her manager (or agency? I'm not sure) & asking her fans to help her in something.. Swifties is a huge fandom as well.. U can use that power, to at least make others who diminish her career shut up. And u all did it wonderfully already,, by making her one of the biggest stream album this year (folklore) And also,, don't just flexing the streaming number.. Flexing abt her quality this way, be vocal abt it, will help a lot as well Thank u for explaining this to me.. ❤ And, right.. I stan BTS 💜

I agree, I liked her first album but after she blew up, I feel like her "image" started getting distorted because of her fame, and unfortunately that influenced my appreciation for her music. I personally don't like feeling like "consolidated" artists are being praised for "ok" music just because they're already a famous name, and maybe her being very famous has obscured her craft for many of us (which is wrong, ofc and part of a celebrity culture issue imo). Will definietly be giving her art another go and focus on the craft only.

Those people who criticize you for listening to her have deep rooted issues. Probably misogyny or disliking mainstream music because they want to appear 'edgy' and 'cool' and 'different'. Take twitter for example. They all criticize a certain male artist but when people posted their end of year Spotify most played lists he was at the top of them all. People found it hilarious but I thought it was extremely pathetic. People are so desperate to fit in or to be different. There is no middle ground.

Beautifully done. You’ve crafted an image of her transformation over the years, in music and maturity, that holds such insight. I almost balked at the mention of the debacle with Kim and Kanye, but after a few moments it sunk in that it wasn’t about who was right or wrong. It was about how the changed public perception of her affected her, and how it was reflected in her songwriting and music, the new image she presented. Part response, part mask, it was an important step in her journey. Playing into this character let her say things that I don’t know if she could have as her true self. Finding her way back to being her genuine self in her writing over the years, culminating in that glorious sentiment from Folklore where she used her gift for storytelling to bring so many very different people to life. Ordinary people, perhaps uninteresting on the surface, became the vulnerable ones, the complex ones, the ones with their own stories through Taylor’s inspired words and melodies. Your portrayal of a talented young girl’s transition into a mature insightful woman over the years was done with real heart and sensitivity. This may be long, but you left me with a lot that I wanted to say to you.

Can I just salute the using "carefully crafted" and "in control" as something to say to Taylor's credit not to accuse her of because that's what she honestly taught me as a young woman who grew up listening to her music and that's what she's been trying to get throughout her whole career. Amazing essay.

All megastars get the same level of scrutiny. I lived through Michael Jackson and Madonna's height of fame .. believe me, if they so much as farted it was headline news. Does Taylor get more hate? Hmmm, possibly, but I have a theory for that. I believe it is because there is a certain perception amongst much of the public that a prominent female singer/performer should be an excellent technical singer. Now whilst I love the character of Taylor's voice, she is not a top technical singer. Because of this a lot of the public unfairly ridicule her, completely overlook her song writing talent, and label her talentless. Madonna got this a bit too, but her voice was technically steadier (although less characterful) than Taylor's when she started out. I think this is where a lot of the hate stems from - and the trope "she can't sing, she's only famous cos she's pretty" comes out. Of course she has dramatically improved her voice over the years, and I do sense a lot of that hate is fading away. I would also say men get a lot more slack for being limited technical singers - I give you David Lee Roth as exhibit A!

I’m glad I found this video, honestly. The past couple years I was on that bandwagon of “if anyone slips up ever, how dare they?” And remember watching a Tea Spill video about her last year, and her being all over Tiktok etc facing scrutiny for her You Need To Calm Down video. She was criticized for portraying those protesters as hillbillies and not smart. People were pouring out of the woodwork saying “they’re often smarter than this!!! How terrible of her for making them into the jokes they are and not getting into detail to portray them as the sometimes big people with massive platforms they are!!!” And I hate that I agreed with it! I had zero idea until this video that she had mentioned not wanting to speak out on things she felt and knew she needed more education on (the voting thing) and just hating her for EVERYTHING. Because people made it seem like if you DIDNT you too, were also this terrible person. She’s amazing.

The media and celebrities do it just to receive immense attention from the audience. They used Taylor Swift because they knew Taylor has a lot of fans and they used all their lies to turn down Taylor and make the Media and Kim-Kanye as a saint in the sight of the world. I feel horrible that I believe the media about Taylor before. I feel so very unfair to her not to listen to her song because of the rumours I heard about her. But the more I open myself to her music, the more I understand why they hate her. She has full of talent and very good singer and lyricist I've ever known same with Avril Lavigne. But she is above Avril now and her music is very relatable to anyone. I hope someday that more people will open their eyes to understand Taylor. And also not to believe the MAINSTREAM MEDIA. 🙄

I truly believe that Taylor Swift is somebody who will go down in history as a "legend". She's had some of the most success in current music and she's had such a different story to the rest of the pop stars today, as you've clearly expressed in this video. I've grown up with Taylor Swift and when she was writing those cliché, high school love songs, that's the type of music I could relate to. Now, even though she's still quite a bit older than me, with Folklore she has wrote about themes that I can relate to now. I feel as though we've grown up together, which is a great feeling. It's somebody who will continuously make music that you relate to and understand on a personal level. I still go back and listen to her old music from the country days for nostalgia. I love Taylor and I think she's one of the smartest people in the industry right now.

As she sings in the second verse: "Now, it’s big black cars and Riviera views And your lover in the foyer doesn’t even know you And your secrets end up splashed on the news front page And they tell you that you’re lucky, but you’re so confused 'Cause you don’t feel pretty, you just feel used And all the young things line up to take your place"

@@amberdiaz5847 i think the line about “young things” isn’t objectifying, i think that’s exactly how it feels and is portrayed in the industry. women are thrown out and replaced in the music industry all the time and they have to fight for their place. and also, just because someone is rich and famous doesn’t mean they can’t struggle? taylor has suffered with eating disorders, stalkers, bullies, boatloads of hate, and still came out the other end as a powerful, humble, sweet person. tabloids shouldn’t treat celebrities like non-humans or like they don’t have feelings.

Taylor's storytelling about characters on Folklore & Evermore started with 'Blank Space', with her distancing from herself and writing from another person's perspective. Even 'Wildest Dreams' was a transition into that. I can't wait to see if 'Midnights' has a combination of those.

Even with all of that, i did not expect the raw-ness of midnights. all the lines are beautifully crafted yet so simple it really gets the point across in the most heartwarming or heartwreanching ways. i was also surprised in the best way with the range of emotions. 'you're on your own kid' became my anthem instantly, while 'would've, could've, should've' broke me down and put me back together in like 4 minutes lol And i think the use of imagery in songs & creating stories in her mv's too is just a continuation of tay portraying her own folklore, which is such a human experience really, since we all do it everyday, and people have done it since the dawn of time 🤍
