Having a kid is like having sex with someone without getting their consent. The parents are like, I don't care if they like it or not I'm going to force them into this extremely unfair and cruel existence anyway.

I’m 51, never married no kids. I always thought I would be. Just the way it turned out. Of course it’s not too late. I could move overseas and meet a nice lady. I admire families and observe them. Sometimes I think I’ve missed out. Some men have told me I’ve lived a wasted life not having family. “Jim , what’s the point of life if you don’t have a family?” Then I have many people tell me, “Jim don’t get married.” Or “Jim, be glad there are things in life you have missed out on.” I guess the grass isn’t always greener.

I graduated high school in 95 & I remember back in high school in history class being taught about history & how our species has treated each other for 1,000s of years .. & at that moment it made realize to never have a child & to this day I'm glad I didn't.. our species don't change ~ just the times do .. why would anybody bring something into this world & force it to be apart of it & all its BS for 85 yrs of its life ..

I'm the 4th of 6th children. I asked my mother why she had children, and her response was "she always wanted a big family", plus she's obsessed with babies, thinks they're cute, "sweet", etc. Kinda just feels like she had a kid for the early years, it grew a bit older and less cute so she had another, 6 times. I don't know if that's the actual reason though. I mean who knows why people do stuff? We know HOW our mothers got pregnant with us (puke) - but whether they were having sex for the instrumental reason of getting pregnant? I think a lot of people lie to themselves - I would guess FAR MORE pregnancies than is admitted are unplanned, and happen just out of irresponsibility. Or it's just mindless - people find a partner, get married, follow the "lifescript" which means unprotected sex during marriage. And then pregnancy happens. Probably not much more thought than that. I really am suspicious of people who claim nonsense like "I had a child because I wanted to give the gift of life!" as if it's a self-sacrifice to confer a benefit onto another human. I dont believe it. Most people it seems just have an innate desire to procreate and be parents. Children seem to enrich the lives of a lot of people. Not all who have them, but most. So they do it. They have parental desires, desires for children and family and so they do it. For me, I am very pessimistic about life/the world. I think being born is horrific, life is largely just a meaningless tragedy filled with suffering, and I regret my own birth. And to see people having children - another person who will have to deal with the pains of life, their own mortality, all the bullshit in the world, sickness, aging, etc - for such trivial reasons like "whoops forgot a condom", it's ridiculous. Such mindlessness, and it perpetuates the human condition. Just burdens the next generation with the same shit. And why? Sexual irresponsibility l, or out of a selfish desire on the parents part to enrich their own lives by having children. Human suffering could end within a generation if we just stopped procreating. Such a simple and elegant solution. But it will never happen - in fact the world's population is expected to reach 11 billion by 2050. What to do?

I have to admit that I fear loneliness, too. And I know many people who feel the same and decided to have kids to have some sort of a 'lifelong companionship'. Even though I lean towards childfreedom and antinatalism, I reflect very often on my future loneliness. It is possible I will feel lonely in my old age, that I would have no in-built family support system. But still, I would find it extremely egotistical to create new human beings and throw them into this matrix world for such a selfish reason of mine.

Im a 38 year old man without ever having felt attraction to women. And I don’t like being around kids. So it is a no brainer, I will never procreate and I do not ever want a female partner or gf.

Find different friends. Women do it for the money and power. Yes power. They have a controlling stake in their children and husband through the procreative act. but it is still stupid. The banks are usiing her natural desire and weaponize it against everyone around her. I wish women would think twice about it. Many don't seem to be interested in things at all. I wonder why.

My experience, in Canada, is that people say that I and others are so lucky to not have had *the clock* nor non stop *immense need* (like some pple just HAVE to have a kiddo I understand. So many are forced by a culture, a religion, or a partner to have kids. Like many others I threw myself into designing a life ... immense travel and adventures abroad and varied academics. I thrive on learning and knowing, and like 2 friends of mine from very young ...we just *knew* we did not want kids (via birth or other) and still alllll good with the decision. Fortunate to live in out of their world region - province too so that helps as so much to experience and lots of universities that once can become immersed within their plethora of content and libraries. Sorry you are feeling mocked and ridiculed.

@@majk9999 not really a good idea tbh most breediots aren't qualified to be called parents to begin with, as i said the caring and wealtier parent should be the ones who have childrens and that needs to be a law in my view period, but still having kids when you are a slave or a broke person is very selfish and the best option is not to do it in the first place money is highly important in this day and age and it's a big mistake to bring anyone here as a low tier financially so.

People have kids to enjoy the experience, to enjoy their children! Also, you've forgotten where it starts from, out of love. Most people want to love and to be loved. Love multiplies. Love is like when vinegar meets baking soda, something bigger is created and must overflow. It's like asking "Why do people plant flowers in their garden?" To love the sight of them for their own sake. This fellow needs to get some really fun hobbies and find a lovely wife and enjoy being with her instead of being circumspect in a park all alone.
