John Lloyd is a retired Marine Commander and School Master. He has dedicated his life to researching the Cathars who were a "Christian religious movement that appeared in the Languedoc region of France and parts Europe in the 11th century and flourished in the 12th and 13th centuries". - Wikipedia. They were eventually massacred by orders of the Pope leading to the first Crusade.

I AM old and was a sercher! My last 9 years I meditated in Asia 24/7. I heard about the Cathars in the program Ancient Aliens. I was shocked that the answers I got in altered States of consciousness throughout my life are = to the Cathars Doctrine 😵. I never told anybody because people don't understand when I talk, suddenly my knowledge is ancient! 😁

That crusade lasted many year's. Beginning aprox around 1209 in it's military form. The last Cathar castles fell by 1244. Then the Vatican reverted to detective work for 100 more year's to find the very last Perfect's. After all this, it's amazing Catharism is back in good form with a smile! ;)

Thank you for your comment and mentioning the Bogomils of the Balkans. I have been studying the New Message from God, received by Marshall Vian Summers, and there are many similarities e.g. Jesus was not the son of God but a Messenger from God and there won't be a second coming and no judgement day and no end of the world. The New Message doesn't say that the flesh is evil though, it expresses that you are much bigger than your body and mind and you are here in this body and in the world for a reason. I will keep on reading about the Bogomils. Thank you again.

Cathars were well spread all around North Italy down to Florence, which makes sense, going from East to West into Bosnia and Italy, not "jumping" from Bulgaria to the south of modern France and nothing in between 🙂

I think I am a Cathar. I have found my own truth through a lifetime of meditation and self investigation. The essence of which does not seem to be conveyed here - that this life as a human is one of choice - towards the light or towards the dark. The dark side of our nature is the egoic mind and physical existence, ruled and conditioned by "demonic" entities in the form of political leaders, religious leaders and the other psychopathic entities who control positions in business. We are really infinite souls if we move to the light, who unfortunately identified ourselves as physical and mental identities because of ignorance. The demonic Catholic church wanted complete control of the minds of the masses, the Cathars were a threat with appeal and in the end blood always flows when all else fails. We are fortunate that to some extent at this time, the Demons are not able to totally control what knowledge we can access, so it is a good chance for some of us to sever the bonds that keep us here lifetime after lifetime. The message of Jesus was really to set an example of what we can become and he defeated his own inner demons in the desert to move towards his own light.

What about the Pope being indebted for tremendous amounts. He then set his eyes on the Cathars fortune who were rather well off, under the pretext of accusing the Cathars of being heretics. The Church did this also to the Crusaders to claim their wealth and properties. It was always and still is about greed and power. ✌

Perhaps the Pope/Catholic Church destroyed the Cathars because they knew that in time they would lose control of the masses, the people might begin to question, why live such a regimented strict life racked with guilt and restrictions when they could experience a much simpler life of ease and happiness.

I think the Cathars were supporters/ followers of Jesus because he was defending The Debt Jubilee. Debt forgiveness; practiced for 3000 yrs. The Jews wanted Usury and Jesus called them thieves and upturned the money tables in the temple. For this Jesus was crucified and so he died for our debts. The Roman and Jewish armies got together with very rich Italians and posited usury. Catholic church was set up and so these 2 had folk controlled by 'faith' and by the money. inner and outer,, you were a slave. Cathars continued to practice debt forgiveness which provided a good life for their way of living. with more freedom. So as they crucified Jesus they would crucify anyone who spoke against Usury. And today the total debt on the planet stands at $ 184, 000,000,000,000. the real evil. Only the people had their debt forgiven NOT the business or creditor/lender. This happened when a new leader or king was elected or chosen in the palace or temples.

The Cathars were attracting many people away from the Catholic church. That is why the Catholics church hated them. The Cathars practised what they preached, they did not have great wealth and were satisfied with having only the basics necessities of life.

The Cathary were the apostolic church that is just another name or the waldenses, insabattis, etc., the church of Rome put all the nicknames so the people don't identify the ancient church when you think of some historian you must understand that they blurred their history and doctrines so people will attack them an even today they reject them as heretics or even called them agnostic! Don't fall in that trap they'were part of the Church In the wilderness, this people preach the light of gospel all thru the dark ages for 1260 prophetic years until little after the Reformation, these people were one of the two witnesses in the book of Revelations told by the great author Henry Grattan Guinness in his amazing book "Romanism and the Reformation" that you can download for free I invite everyone to read: The Truth triumphant by benjamin George Wilkinson free pdf two great books so nobody tell more lies about this truth believers of Christ

Some cathars made it to Britain and had the same fate as the Cathars in southern France but not in large numbers . The history of Cathars has seemed to deliberately disappeared along with a lot of their religious texts sadly. With over 4400 religions this is undoubtedly is one of the most peaceful and mysterious religions but in a good way long live the Cathars .

A very insightful video about the Cathars. Thank you. I am pleased to see a greater public response to Gnosticism in general and Catharism in particular. As important as the historical perspective is, also quite relevant is the unique dialogues between Henri de Nebours and Guillaume de Mirepoix in The Cathar Dialogues, Amazon. Not everyone's cup of tea as it requires a stretch of the imagination for most but not so for 'reincarnated' Cathars. Enjoyed your video immensely. deMontserver

@@Mika-El- Hello Mika, I saw your message yesterday, and immediately felt that is something I would really love to do🙏🏻 But I am not free, caring for my 97 year old mother on my own, neither young myself, 74,nor in wonderful health, and have never travelled anywhere outside of my own back yard, as I've spent my whole life caring for other members of what had become a very seriously damaged and neglected family. However, I am also visionary, have been so all my life, and greatly more so, ever since Jesus came to me many years ago. Having wondered about visiting there after reading your message, I received a visionary message of no small force, and feel I must share it with you, though I do so in humility🙏🏻. I found myself suddenly transported there, and was way above the region but looking down at its terrain very intensely, while at the same time, an extremely authoritive voice was speaking from around me, while indicating the great importance of that place, and it said. "As above, so below." The message I received altogether, from the experience, was saying....... That ground itself is Holy, profoundly and indelibly stamped with the nature and works of the Cathars who have lived there, even lived as God intended, in very close harmony with His intention for humanity that belongs to Him🙏🏻🙏🏻💖 I have only fairly recently come to know of the Cathars at all, but was made certain through visions and messages, that I have been one among them in another life, even that I almost certainly died in that final fire. I doubt that I will ever be free to make a visit, but feel that it is familiar to me. I've had many experiences of past life memory's, and this contact has recently been added to the list, but maybe the most important of all, and perhaps why Jesus came to reveal Himself to me in the first place🙏🏻 I hope you make your trip and that it proves fruitful🌿 God Bless🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💖💖💖

I hope the truth will one day be widely known that the reason for the destruction of Cathar and Cathar-like believers is that they held true Christian tenets that the Roman Church did not allow since they were Pauline grace doctrine, and not papal dogma. Too many so-called experts attribute tenets to the Cathars , e.g., reincarnation etc. that are not what they believed at all.

@@physicalculturist2437 I wouldn't proclaim to know exactly what the Cathars believed but my belief is that reincarnation is the ultimate birth supervision and reason for making a heaven on Earth, time, life is eternal .What satn is trying to do is destroy all notions of this so that people reincarnate on to an ever depleted planet and live their lives selfishly with no regard for others, future generations or future reincarnations. Most people fall for this deception including many politicians and business people as they pursue lives of increasing material gain and advocate economic policies of growth and consumerism. Imagine a world that was replenished, restored, made to last, inequality and injustice was frowned upon, land distributed fairly, top soil revitalised, rivers and oceans cleaned up, society taking precedence over individualism, people and planet taking precedence over the false prophets (profits) of dysfunctional capitalism. Each generation building on the success of previous generations. People in Britain are blinded to heroes of the past Wiliam Wilberforce, Isambard Kingdom Brunel etc yet when they take a shit in the morning it is thanks to the victorians that we have sewers to take away their crap not to a generation staring into their iPhones or being bombarded by gambling adverts from the liar/ deceiver.

Faith AND works were cathar doctrine. Purification, good deeds, meditation, prayer, fasting, confessing, healing, forgiving. When it comes to reincarnation I would leave it open. I do believe the most knowledgeable amongst cathars knew things about such stuff that transcends our ordinary linear and dualistic reasoning. Such knowledge could very well affirm some aspects of what is known as reincarnation, yet ALSO dismiss what many thinks is the metaphysics of reincarnation.

Well sin in the sense that they believed they were the third of heaven that deliberately rejected and forgot God in favour of Satan, including the pleasures of paradise and memories of being angelic, for all this, for a physical reality where everything is doomed to die and decay. So if people are saved, its by the true God's grace, if they get damned, they get exactly what they wanted.

OBSERVATION: i tend to think that under-dog movements are good at heart, because they are started by normal, conscientious people. But if the group ascends to any real political power, the corruptible and psychopathic will over time, seep in and hi-jack the movement, finally distorting it into an unrecognizable power-mongering edifice. the Roman catholic church began as reasonably christian, right? then they quickly became despicable. If political power ever sponsored catharism in a big way, it would have distorted it out of all merit. Such has always happened with the mainstream religions.

I have a feeling history is all wrong. It was the other way around - the Good christians, the original pure Christ believers were the original people in that region, catholic church and vatican being the inheritor of the failed roman empire were formed subsequently. Catholic church has tried and unfortunatelly succeeded in erasing Good christian people from this region. Now think about that and apply this same logic everywhere else they lead thier "crusades" which is just a cover name for religious was agianst people much more spiritually elevated than them.

The cathars according to three books ive read on the templars and two on the inquisition were said to believe that marriage was a sin as well as having children, and owning worldly possesions, so i smell pompous b.s. from john, not that the catholic church is any better its just the opposite the dualistic difference to the cathars, but just think about the word catharsis which is a lie and ties into psychology which is also a lie, and consider that giving up your worldly possesions is just communism because it allows others tp take and depose goods how they say fit, its just another manipulation technique to get you to believe in depopulatuon, martyrdom, and control by the state.

What a load of garbage. This man isn't an expert on anything related to the Cathars. Lots of opinions mixed speculation and slander. The Cathars where not peaceful, this is a modern twist on the subject, they where also prolific proselytizers that wen't out according to writings in groups of two. They where not unorganized, they had a leadership structure. They also persecuted Christians and burnt church's backed up by the authority of renegade nobles. They openly challenged the Church, they denied the Divinity of Christ, they where not Christians.
