Equally important in bringing maturity to his wings. Smart was always flopping, getting into it with refs and playing hero ball so Tatum was flopping, getting into it with refs and playing hero ball. Tatum is doing much less of that this year and I credit the Smart/Jrue switch.

The Celtics got two first round picks & Porzingis for Marcus Smart. That is what the trade looks like on paper but in actuality Porzingis requested a trade to Boston by opting into his contract with the Wizards instead of signing a new deal in free agency. Then Brad Stevens repackaged the two picks with injury prone Brogdon & Robert Williams to Portland to land Jrue Holiday.

@mrsheev9131
@mrsheev9131 6 ай бұрын
I agree somewhat with Zach's reasoning, Brad has undoubtedly done a fantastic job building the team. That said, in my opinion the MVP for the overall success of the Celtics is clearly Tatum. Every team the Celtics face puts their best perimeter defender on Tatum. Every coach the Celtics face schemes to stop Tatum. Every player on the Celtics experiences elevated offensive production thanks to the attention Tatum draws whenever he is out there, and this is true against every team they face. And in this series, Tatum is double and sometimes triple-teamed whenever he has the ball, meaning Dallas has put even greater emphasis on stopping Tatum than Boston has on stopping Doncic. He is the engine of the Celtics offense, and clearly, the driving force of the team's success.

Annoying how late in the season this talk is happening, but better late than never. Lowe is right to point out what the state of the team was when Ainge was getting ready to leave for Utah. Kemba, Hayward, Wanamaker, Ojyele, Fall, Thompson, Teague, etc. Hardly a championship roster around the Jays and Smart. Even Robert Williams had yet to average more than minimal minutes. People forget or act like that didn’t happen, but I remember people saying they had basically squandered the Nets package and were cooked. Now I gotta hear people seriously pretend like “Tatum had a super team every year!” Spare me.

All of this wouldn’t have been possible if Isaiah Thomas didn’t play his little 🍑 off for the Celtics, and build his value for that Kyrie Trade

Brad Stevens had ZERO idea that most of the BEST Teams in the EAST would have Key injuries to their Top Players. Brad Stevens had ZERO idea that Denver would not be in the Finals again. Brad Steven Got lucky, because the LUCK of the Draw. If all teams are healthy Next year and Boston wins this year but also Does so again next year, then you can Run on and on about Brad Stevens. Dude just got lucky this year. And nothing more.

Denver is the only team that could have legit beaten us because Jokic is just a monster and our front court would have struggled a lot.

If Luka wins this series and gets a championship the media and NBA would promote him as the best player in the world. But if Tatum and Brown win the championship then its the GM who gets the credit. Neither of them is crowned best player in the world. This is an obvious agenda to uplift European players and downplay american born black players.

lol Brown makes more than Jokic with zero MVPs and much lesser achievements. Tatum is going to sign a bigger max deal than both of them this summer.😂

Nah dude. Seems to me like most of the people in media don’t want to promote euros. When they talk about new face of the league Luka never gets mentioned and Jokic never gets mentioned despite 3 MVP’s. Plus Luka is, in fact, a top 3 player and the media still did not really cover him that much until he beat Minnesota. Compare that to how they were glazing Ant Edwards, calling him the face of the league, when he’s not even ready for all that and he’s not close to being MJ.

@@WitnesstotheCrime, you must not watch much sports media. Jokic has been crowned best player in the world since he won a chip. Luka plays turn style defense but has constantly been compared to MJ. Giannis was worshiped when he won a chip. Luka is not a top 3 player because he's a ball hog who dribbles too much and plays absolutely zero defense.
