One of my favorite scenes is when he repents and submits to Jesus. I cry every time.

I don’t cry but it’s still my favorite surrender in the chosen.

It's one of my favorites too. It's also amazing how Jesus talks to him. "Lift up your head...don't be afraid."

I love the line when Simon says to Andrew, I don't need a lamb, I need fish. What he doesn't realize is that he needs the lamb in order to get the fish.

You bring a very fresh flavor to your reviews of The Chosen, Durban. Thank you. I agree that Simon’s prayers are frustrated and my experience with that is how well it reveals my heart to start a transformation. Wonderful episode and great job. Please do more!!!❤️

It's amazing how if we pay attention, our frustrated prayers can reveal where our heart is at. And it's amazing how God lovingly brings about transformation. Thank you for your encouraging words, I'm so glad you enjoy these videos!

18:00 It's this moment I remembered about Simon when in Season 2, Episode 1, Melech posed the rhetoric, "Now that you know what kind of man I am, would you still have helped me?" (or something like that), and he answers, "He would." Wrecked me. 😪🥲💜☝

I think Simon is definitely buying the lie that God doesn't care about him and his problems. Also that he has to solve his problems himself. He's angry and possibly scared, and since anger is easier to feel than fear, he's lashing out in anger at his brother and at God. 🙏✝️❤
@ChrisDurban3 жыл бұрын
I agree with that. The way he thought faith wouldn't get him fish leads me to think he doesn't believe God is concerned about that part of his life. Thus, leaving him to take care of it himself.

I think to some degree we can all relate to Simon trying to fix things ourselves.

I love the miraculous catch of fish scene and Peter's humbling of himself to Jesus in very broken, nervous sentences, speaking of his past, his faith or lack thereof, and apologising to Jesus for that weak faith, much the same way many of us would when confronted with our own weaknesses by the One Who is to be our strength. I really like the depiction of actual scenes and events in the gospels. They are very well done.

They are very well done, and it's very powerful because of the context they build around it.

When the Roman knicks Simon's ear is a foreshadow of what happens in the garden of Gethsemane.

@Durbania Lies Simon is agreeong with: 1) He has to figure it all out on his own 2) He is willing to lie in his desperate lunge to measure up to expectations, 3) He has to bow to Rome 's demands instead of trust in God, 4) Basically he is in idolatry instead of seeking the Lord

I can relate. Thank you Lord for unconditional love, correction, and protection. It's only when we come to the end of our self efforts that Jesus can step into the boat and bless us. Lord Jesus I surrender; Come into the boat the You have built for me. Thank you Lord Jesus, amen

I do enjoy the fish catch of the day! Miraclaulously ! Divine encounter with encouragment from Jesus Christ Himself. To Simon! How awesome is that! That eye contact without words that's definitely my style!! I love it! I can relate to that for Sure!!

Also the way you explained the whole story of Simon from his debts and his dark ways to get back on track with gambling and lying and keeping secrets from his wife of how bad the life situation he's in with the Romans and then added responsibility given to his house hold of his sick mother in law by his brother in laws . As they have done their best to care for her. Now sisters turn. As healthcare is difficult when your not trained for that for family care. So as you mentioned all the stress he was enduring WOW that was intense!!! I missed that early part of viewing The Chosen. I mostly saw Romans and Mathew as tax collector and Simon and Andrew and Simons wife interaction. Then fish scene. I was happy with all that and holy fear of Simon forgiveness and Mercy shown by Jesus Christ. As He was angry at God . Harden heart. But God softened his heart with that large catch of fish and freedom of his debts as well as freedom of His sins as he asked for forgiveness. And of course that eye contact priceless!!! So personal interaction between Jesus Christ and Simon and how you mentioned pursuit of Simon till the very last Hail Mary moment! WOW! Like a football play! I love that!!! Perfect play. Such drama. Yet powerful as others witnessed the miraclaulously activity of the fish caught in the nets. Then Jesus Christ went to Simon s house and healed the mother in law of her sickness to be helpful to Simons wife as he would leave with Jesus Christ on His mission to gather men not fish . So yes very powerful show. God has a sense of humor and you like comics and I like humor also. Some times I do things that are humourous to people I don't even know. Till they explain it to me afterwards. Craziness. That's God. I j am just being me as He leads me. An example: I played in a woman's soccer team one summer when I was in my mid twenties. I was one of the older players , the others were college women I was mom with two small children at that time. But I wanted to play soccer. I was running I got ball away from other team player passed ball to my team player , she kicked it we scored won the game! My Coach Colleen Eicker called my name I turned suddenly and walked towards her. As I did that. Other team player a tall blonde woman was going to kick me in my backside but missed she slipped and fell in mud as that morning it rained in the park playing field. I turned around and offered my hand to pick her up from the mud. She refused my hand and rolled away from me. Okay I said and walked away toward s my coach. She told me what happened! Really??? WOW! I didn't even know I was in danger! So see what I mean. Comical. At times.

It is amazing how God gets our attention, and I love how relatable this show is. All that stress that Simon was under and Jesus met him where he was, and I agree I love the humor. I got a lot of humorous moments in my life between God and myself as well :)
