I am very happy the podcast is still going strong. Genna has been getting better at hosting, she seems so relaxed and poised this episode, on a similar level to Dodger (and she's been podcasting for years!). Also camera angle is much better this time too... Ok, enough compliments before it gets too weird, but the show is feeling regular again and that pleases me.

She seems to be going for the other side of hosting from TB; he was a driver, she's a facilitator. And she is doing a good job of it; every-time she spoke, someone ended up in an anecdote or their anecdote was propelled along. It also feels a bit more chill than it did. Kudos to Genna.

Hi Genna. I lost my partner 9 years ago & Also have mental health issues so I can empathise somewhat. I was once told bereavement is like having a sharp stone in your stomach, that keeps hurting. With time the stone gets smoother & hurts less but it never goes away, because you memories of the person never goes away. I'm sure you have already been told a thousand times "it gets easier" so That's not what I'm trying to say. Sorry if I come across as patronising, not my intent. Best Wishes

1:00:00 Force, battle royals is a game mode, engines are freely available, net code is ready and available. It’s the fastest growing specifically because it’s so damned easy to throw one together, one map, a few weapons, a gimmick for the players, job done. After that it’s down to support. I remember playing hunger games mods for guild wars2 and Starcraft, and that’s a much more complex game mode to create.

This may just be my subjective opinion... For a long while things have very occasionally felt a bit echo chamber-ee when talking about certain topics. Which seems natural considering friendships and proximity, but may results in potentially less factual and more high strung opinion. With the push towards guest discussions it might be nice to tweak the format and bring on people who either have expertise in or an alternative POV for a given area of discussion for balance - when possible. Many thanks for the high quality show.

My first mmo was Everquest Online Adventure, the defunct PS2 cousin of Everquest. My character was a monk named Phleg. He was based off my D&D character, a half-Orc monk who loved his drink. Finally, a group of people that I am in complete agreement with on WoW Classic! Too many people I talk to have those rose tinted glasses and I feel they are going to be sorely disappointed because "it's not the way I remember". You can only experience something for the first time ONCE, and you can never go back and repeat it with the exact same emotions or experiences, no matter how much you want to. I truly believe that this was what was meant by the "you think you do, but you don't" comment, and that many, many people will realize this when Classic is released.

What made all those MMOs great that can't be obtained anymore is that back then, there weren't many source sites for questing and mapping out every thing you can do in the game, so there was always a feeling of mystery amongst the community, and knowledge was valueble

The Crew 2 has indeed some weird detection of air tricks, however I do get loops pretty much 100% of the time now. Thing is that they show you this graph in the corner of what the trick is supposed to look like - and they are not kidding. To make a loop you need to fly straight horizontally, then make a loop, then end up again flying straight horizontally. It only then seems to register. Just flying circles with random entry and exit points does not seem to work. Chances are that near misses require you to actually be on a collision course before you bank away (that's what the graph shows), but I didn't get those right yet. I usually just go dive into the trees and hope for the best.

In Vanilla WoW: - there were no flight paths. You had to reengage with the flightmaster at each location, picking the next flight point - Paladins weren't viable as tanks - you had to buy resources for buffs - those buffs applied only to your group, so people had to be shuffled around - you had to reapply the buffs every few minutes - Alliance didn't have Bloodlust - you had to buy your abilities at the trainers. These abilities had different levels and sometimes it was more efficient to use a lower level - there were little to no mods and almost no online resources to help you learn to play - losing threat was a constant struggle for tanks (3 sunders before DPS) - 40 man raids had very little loot - you had to actively search for groups, sometimes taking hours, especially for DPS - certain raids weren't even survivable if you didn't have the correct resistances for the encounters - there were attunement quest chains for raids - especially with the first character on the realm, gold was a real problem - NPCs could only have a limited number of DoT's on them, so that had to be carefully managed I'm very interested how people will react with all those comforts removed. It's like trying to play an old RTS and having to select every unit by itself, then clicking an action ant then clicking a target. Some old game mechanics aren't used anymore for a reason. WoW had some misssteps, but all in all it has been improved with every patch and every expansion. Dialing that back by 12 years will affect the experience a lot.
