"The Cobra to end all Cobras" Carroll Shelby's Super Snake - BARRETT-JACKSON 50th ANNIVERSARY

To mark Barrett-Jackson’s half-century in business, this special series looks back at a few extraordinary vehicles from the past 50 years. These vehicles led the charge across the block - making history, setting records, and altering and ultimately reshaping the marketplace.
The Cobra to end all Cobras, this ’66 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake is one of two Super Snake Cobras built and the only one built for Carroll Shelby. The bodywork is a combination of Competition and Semi Competition Cobra features and still has its original 1965 date-coded engine block, original Competition brake calipers, original Competition rear end with oil cooler and pumps, and original headers and sidepipes. This Super Snake CSX 3015 has changed hands at Barrett-Jackson multiple times and was always the headline news of the auction, as well as being a record-setter.

I remember watching this on Speed Vision. Imagine a Barrett Jackson crowd (loud/cheers) if they sold a car like that Ferrari GTO that sold for 50 million to in the UK to a quiet audience

I've seen that car twice when I was young. Once at the San Francisco car show, cobras were the featured make that year. The other time if my memory serves me right was at Laguna Seca raceway. There was a second one made for Bill Cosby. I think he soon realized he would probably die in that car if he continued to drive it and sold it very soon after purchasing it.

I don't understand why this car can't break at least 8mil, I think it's worth 10. This is the first sale, Pratt later sold it and it hammered at 5.2? I think.
