Jojo literally goes “well I wasn’t groomed. I mean I’ve known her since I was 12 and she’s done nothing but made me feel special so I’d like her. But I’ve never been groomed” and doesn’t see the irony. I truly feel bad for her. She was raised in that culture and it has blinded her to people like Colleen and Shane.

I agree, that's what sucks about this kind of exploitative behavior being so complicated. The abuser perfectly molds their own victims to defend them. One way or another she's a type of victim too and has a lot to work through on this issue.

I think what Jojo is really failing to understand is that Colleen and her family would never dare be rude to the millionaire that she is. When she said “they’ve always been nothing but nice to me”…. Like, of course they were. She has been controlled and used and manipulated by adults her entire life. There is no way she can know what a healthy relationship is. Adults don’t seek out friendships with children. That’s weird.

THIS! We are seeing firsthand what manipulation does to the brain, especially when the manipulation is done from as young as she was when she started dance moms. No gonna lie, a lot of people have described this interview as if Howie somehow made it uncomfortable for Jojo. He barely pushed her. He gave her many, many, many opportunities to defend Colleen (and this was 100% intended to be a defense of Colleen, not a Jojo interview) and Jojo just doubled down. Howie handled her with feather pillows and I feel the interviewed attempted to normalize or dismiss what Colleen has done.

I don't really like Jojo and I agree she is absolutely in the wrong here, but defending abusers is suuuuper common in victims. If they are defending their own abusers, then they will 100% defend any abuser that is similar, because it feels like the same thing. Because in the end its not the abuser they are defending; its their own denial of any abuse at all. One of the most common coping mechanisms out there are "its not that bad" or "it wasn't like that". Giving up that delusion is terrifying, because it means giving up the only thing that's making it all bearable

Like the saying “hurt people hurt people”, which is more for the person using it to exercise compassion and not let the person who hurt them get to them. It’s meant to be used day to day to make it easier to brush off nasty people you might encounter out in public. But people have taken that and used it as an excuse for their own awful behavior. most hurt people do not hurt people because we’re super sensitive to how it feels to be hurt. I saw an interesting video about how people who have lots of power and influence taking phrases and bastardizing them to suit their narrative. I forget the name of the video, I wish I could remember so I can link it. It’s a bit of a manipulation and social engineering tactic, and then other people run with it.

I think Jojo has a skewed view on what appropriate adult-child relationships should look like. She has grown up working closely with adults who would speak to her more like an adult/business partner and be asking her to behave more adult like. So it probably wouldn’t have felt strange to her for an adult to want to collaborate and film with her. She hasn’t been surrounded by typical adult-child relationships or typical friendships with other children to know what the difference is or what is normal and healthy. So I guess I can understand her perspective that what Colleen has done is “normal”.

I find it very interesting that Jojo's first meeting with Colleen was while Jojo was still on TV and put Jojo, who was already a fan, in a position of gratitude. Narcissistic abusers will do things to make victims feel like they owe them something. That gives the narcissist something to hold over victims heads later on. In the interview with Howie, I could see Jojo still feels grateful to Colleen and still speaks as if Colleen helped her career. But the reality is that Jojo was the one helping Colleen's career and the careers of many other OG KZbinrs by collaborating with them. Jojo is being used by so many of these people and she thinks she's the one who should be grateful to them for noticing her. It breaks my heart 💔

I don't understand why people are so entitled to demand this from you, especially when you live with a chronic disability (I also have Fibro, and I completely get it!). And even more so because the content may be triggering for you as you have a history of being abused yourself (which I also unfortunately get). You do amazing work, offered a voice and support to victims, and you're amazing. I'm really sorry that people are coming after you. Please hang in there. Sending love. xx

This whole saga of Colleen Ballinger is horrific. I pray the victims will be heard, feel valued, and have time to heal. I'm a survivor. I spent 20years in an incredibly abusive relationship that I 'could have left anytime'/s. SMH. If the genders had been reversed and Joshua was an abused woman, it wouldn't have been much better--but people would be a little more likely to hear. My heart bleeds for him. The police cannot act without the victims making an official report. It is entirely up to the victims to report it. Unfortunately, and this is the issue with covering active news stories, sometimes taking allegations on line before a report can actually negatively impact an investigation because of chain of custody and the different state laws about online Crimes. For sure, any of us could call in concerns but without the victims themself going forward it won't go anywhere.

@@Idontwant1 certainly makes you raise an eyebrow especially since miranda's abuser is her uncle, an older male relative. @Idontwant1
@Idontwant1 8 ай бұрын
@@ichi3508 Not to be contrary but Trent is actually the second child. It goes Christopher, Trent, Colleen then Rachel. And yes you are so right about the Hater’s Back Off creepy Uncle. I hadn’t put that together until you wrote it. That falls into the category of ewww. And a while back in a vlog Colleen was at her parents house. And her Mom had gotten out a comic book illustrated by her Dad about this naughty little boy named Trent. And his baby sister Colleen. And the naughty (just plain weird things he use to do) I have a feeling that there is a lot more to come out about him. He had a whole new bunch of kids to try and get involved with after Colleen got famous. I know that he lived at his parents house. And he never has left home. I remember during a very short time he had his own place. Because I remember Christopher and Kory and Joshua and Rachel’s boyfriend helping to move him to his apartment. And then not even a month later he was back home. So that makes me think that he’s got more issues going on then just being hard of hearing. Because otherwise why wouldn’t he be living in his own home. For me I think it’s either he has some form of developmental disabilities or multiple disabilities OR his parents can’t trust him out on his own. I just can’t help but think that if he had issues. Why would Colleen or the parents allow him to chat on line with her teenage or younger fans. Why wouldn’t they put some sort of buffer between him being able to have full access and him having limited access. I mean I remember when my kids were in their teens. I had limitations put on our computer. I was allowed to put in 200 words that if they typed any of them or if the person they were talking to typed them. I got a notification telling me that whoever was on our computer typed one of the off limits words. Or that someone typed those words to them. It gave me the account number and the user name. And the kids didn’t know that the other person wasn’t seeing the word they typed in but a word I approved. Was that controlling yes. But I also didn’t want my kids being able to talk to people they had no business talking to.
@ichi3508
@ichi3508 8 ай бұрын
@@Idontwant1 No not at all being contrary thank you for that correction, I mixed up that order & I believe esp. in an instance like this that is so serious and goes deeper than any of us know, its important to get these nuances correct. I had completely forgotten about that until you mentioned that vlog bout the comic book, but I vaguely remember that vlog as well which only further gives me just an awfully icky feeling about the possibilities here of just how deep this behavior may have run. I personally have suspicion that he is severely mentally disabled, not just hearing impaired, in fact to the point that it makes me wonder if he truly understands fully *why* family tells him not to speak to anyone under 18 to protect both them and him, someone mentally handicap enough to not grasp the serious wrongness of such an action. *edited to included* -Jessica's comment only further confirms that theory for me, her saying 'and I feel bad sharing even that' suggests there so much more not being relayed about the depths of his handicaps One of my main backing pieces of "evidence" so to speak for thinking he's possibly mentally retarded and well as the physical disabilities is one random vlog clip of colleen speaking about how cautious she was being about not coming into physical contact with others (fans mainly during her tours by hugging and such at meet'n'greets) while she was expecting. That her mother hadn't known better to be so careful and had ended up coming into contact with/contracting some kind of sickness while pregnant with Trent, and as a direct result the baby (trent) had ended up being born with some pretty severe mental and physical delays/issues. That she loved her brother (and her fans) dearly but wasn't going to be playing around with taking chances. As far as her family's responsibility to act as a buffer, that's a whole other can of possible worms lol. I know that the parents used to be before more involved in the church & whatever specific branch of religion (I believe some flavor of fairly strict new wave Christian at the time) when they were raising the kids, colleen has hinted at a few times just how controlling/ damaging their childhood was in terms of religion and how there has been an open dialogue between the children newly grown and the parents had reconciled apologized and since withdrew from the church/religion they had grown up in. That's important to note specifically because these kinds of religious households often will cover up serious abuse of a sexual nature especially, happening in the home, whether that be between siblings, cousins or creepy uncles, etc. Minimize outside knowledge of such events occurring and deal with it in/as a family, if it's dealt with at all other than ignoring or covering it up. Now while I do not believe her parents would've simply written it off for lack of care, I can see the kind of cognitive dissonance parents, especially relgious parents of a certain degree, may have when faced with the harsh realities of having a child so severely handicapped that you know full well they will become a disabled adult that will not be able to live a semblance of a 'normal' adult life and will forever be dependent on you, mentally and physically. How hard as a parent that must be, how hard on a mother who could easily blame herself for her son's impairments and lack of a normal future. The desire to allow/provide any little thing that can serve to give that child a semblance of control of their life. Now, those things should be heavilyyyyy heavily monitored be the parents (in this case access to group chats and interaction with other humans online) as you yourself mentioned blocking off certain words and things your own children had access to using and seeing online, which is entirely appropriate imo of ANY parent, but parental denial can be a hell of a thing. Especially of there was some form of guilt being harbored about abuse by there own child, severely handicapped or not, under their own home. that's a lottttt of possible guilt and shame to have to ask themselves to face and grapple with, so I could very easily see if there was some form of denial or disassociation there.

I haven’t seen anyone else provide coverage on situations like this quite like you and your team in the best way. I do really like the long episodes as well. I hope everyone involved is able to heal, rebuild their lives and find peace. I also wanted to say that I find comfort in you sharing some of your experiences and problems too. I particularly resonate when you mention your health conditions as I struggle with EDS but also have a shoulder and back injury (spooky 😂). My dad has fibromyalgia too. And yes please do an episode about dance moms!

The sending explicit pics to underage children has actually been confirmed by lots of people (Trisha Paytas, Adam McIntyre and Colleen Ballinger herself) so it's not alleged anymore. Just that her team and lawyer is trying to say that it's alleged to make the situation "less awful" when it actually makes it ten times worse

The pictures were not porno. It was nude photos that 300 pound Trisha had posted HERSELF, online. Colleen only forwarded them, as comedy. There is nothing sexy about a 300 pound woman. How can anyone think it was more than a joke? And, Adam is gay, so it makes no difference anyway, no matter how the woman looked.

@@craigharmon9494? Excuse me? No matter what, as a child you don‘t want nor should be exposed to nudes who are in this case from a sexworkers page, whom first made money with them so they are by default sexual in nature, because that‘s exactly why they were taken. And second GAY BOYS ALSO DON‘T want to see naked woman. You can not decide for them if they are uncomfortable with it or not. And he has spoken about it, so we know he wasn‘t indifferent. He didn’t want them. That just doesn‘t make sense. You can not decide for everybody what is explicit content for them. It’s also against the law, which tells you that it IS a big enough problem to make it punishable by law.

@@craigharmon9494 kinda rude and obnoxious for U to say that. U need a reality check fr... 1. Porn pics ARE nude pics, 2. I never mentioned the pics were porn, I just said that they were explicit (which they were), 3. Trisha Paytas is a pornstar, THATS LITERALLY HER JOB! 4. There is nothing wrong with putting nude pics out there on the internet (as long as children can't access them), 5. They were sent to Adam McIntyre when he was 14 YEARS OLD (A MINOR), 6. It doesn't matter if Adam is gay or not it's still wrong and can still be traumatizing for a child, 7. People have different preferences. U may find skinny people sexy but others don't see that and find curvy or even really overweight people sexy. Your preference in women is not relevant to the arguments U are making. @@craigharmon9494wrong. And your heinous comment is absolutely disgusting. Sending explicit (nude photos of either gender, and/or photos/videos which depict sexual activities or situations) to a minor is absolutely illegal. It is 100% pornographic material. Doesn’t matter where the explicit material came from, who originally took the photos/videos, or who originally distributed the explicit material. It’s still explicit aka pornographic. The audacity of you to think so fucking highly of yourself that you actually believe that YOU, craig harmon, not being attracted to the individual in the photo is somehow the standard by which a photo is deemed pornographic/explicit or not….is downright appalling. Similarly, the sexual orientation of the photo recipient does not matter. If Colleen had sent Adam explicit images of men, it would be just as problematic as it is that she sent Trisha’s explicit images, and just as problematic as it would be if she sent explicit images of any other woman. All nudity is explicit when you’re sending the images to a CHILD. I’ll say it again for you, but slowly…. ***ALL NUDITY IS EXPLICIT WHEN YOU’RE SENDING THE IMAGES TO A CHILD***. Craig’s ability to pop a chub when viewing the material isn’t the variable that defines the images as explicit/pornographic or not. What a weird fucking take my guy 😆
