great video. i already seen the morakniv video so i knew about the difficulties of making it. if you are ever interested to make a walking stick with a funny twist you should serch up shephard axes. those are walking stick axe hybrids from slovakia/romania/hungary and they can be quite crude or quite well carved. lot of them nowadays are made purelly out of wood evean the axe head. anyways great video lot of luck in next projects. hello from czechia.

I enjoyed this video. Your projects are turning out great. I have quite a collection of sticks lol. A shil-le-lagh is my normal carry, and red oak or hickory for hiking. Sometimes I use my old knobkerrie , but it has sentimental value so I'm careful with it. Well done George !

Great looking staff! I love the tape tip for carving the twists. Just a suggestion, do a staff of Diamond willow. It wouldn't need actual carving so much as bark removal and finish but the end product can be unique.

Nice job George. Bit too long for me. To of my shoulder is 5'3" and my limit. If I added another foot it would be as some Asian artform to deploy/repeat strikes should some crazed coyote or two look at me/us in that way. ~ I use juniper cedar for the most part being light and strong. ~~ Nice looking spiral design but my view is not to weaken it. One advantage of longer vs cane or waist tall is possible traversing flooded area(s) on a log, staff reaching earth and not bending over too far retaining balance. ava noice day ~

@@2ndchancegeorge Back in the day when I climbed a tree at a drop of hat for fun, my staff had a lanyard I could shoulder up the tree with me which would make The third branch crossing two sticking out from tree to create a seat. Knowing it's strength enough to bust a coyotes spine or sit upon with say 1.5 foot span without worry was important. ~ blah blah, I've since given up climbing so high after thought of falling never again to use my acquired toys shivered my nerve. (-: ~~ I do have a lighter hike faved juniper staff. Ground end fairly narrow (3/4"?) that when poling along/poking it gives Report through hand to brain of soil/felled wood conditions. Latter for tinder/punkwood, or maybe possible chubby grub worm for fishing ay? Anyway George, here's the Coalcracker dude's vid of using the corkscrew/saw/branch as an extension for saw use, which made me lean towards the Huntsman. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5bOioGHZclrmaM
