Dude you keep me running and staying focused. I too am doing a return to running, had a surgery unrelated to running and had to take a month off. With PRs in the mile of 4:49, 5k of 15:56, and a half marathon of 1:13:21, I was pretty disappointed. Started 5 days ago barely being able to run 9 minute mile pace for more than 30 minutes, then today I did everything in my power to lower my lactate levels and did an awesome cut down of 15 minutes at 8:03 mile pace, 15 minutes at 7:27 pace, and then finally 15 minutes at 5:58 pace, continuously I might add. I feel so tired took a lot of strength. So about a 10k in 43:48. Ill keep you posted every video so we can both our progression to getting better!!

what i've noticed from all the youtube runners make a big deal out of it all.. it's all about having a good balance in daily life. you don't have to run every day to make good times! when I myself did my pb 2.16 at the marathon, I did a 12 week training plan. where I ran between 140-165km and always had 1 rest day per week .. one of the key sessions was the 40km long run where the last 15-20km were at marathon speed. have never been a full-time runner, but I had a completely normal full-time office job..

I also had a question for anyone seeing this. (Probably no one). I'm starting cross country this year and really want to increase my pace. I can run long distances and have a respectable mile and 5k times but I just really want to work harder and get faster. So I what would be the best way to increase my pace for longish distances (2-5 miles).

Doesn't sound like you're "really serious" if it took until 10:30 at night to go for a run, when you don't have a job. If you had enough time to wait around for the Logan Paul fight, you had enough time to go for a run. it's not like you're running a hundred miles a week either, I'm sure your "six days of consistent running" consists of three to five miles at a time. You have a reasonable amount of talent, what you did as a freshman shows that you could probably get under 30 minutes in the 10,000 m. This would be fast enough to go under 2:20 if you are adequately trained. It's not like that is the holy grail, and will bring eternal happiness, or enlightenment, but the quest for 219 might be enough to keep your subscribers tuning in. What you have been doing lately won't cut it.
