I believe a person's foot arch plays a big part in the way we do alot of lifts....

I think sometimes different athletes body composition and biomechanics reacts not the same. Anyway using correct fundamental makes the triple extension a successful tip for champions
@psimuv2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you in two points. (i) the transition from the floor to the knee is a key factor and (ii) the triple extension is a organic consequence of a perfect technical coordination in the simultaneous pull and power push of the bar upwards.

Wow! My brain just exploded, incredible amount of info. This video really drills down on what is actually going on in the lifts, love it. Thank you!

I'd argue those outliers who don't fully extend like Vardanyan could've generated even more bar height had they wanted by actually fully triple extending, but they probably found it much less consistent in making actual full snatches and cleans that way for whatever various individual reasons, maybe looping bar too much, jumping too far forward/back, etc.

Nice to see you back brother either I miss some but I didn't see you posting much this past month our so , this is one is awesome like always.

I would say the issue that plagues me personally is not so much extension but keeping the bar close to me after reciprocating my knees. I always loop super hard.

Well said Coach! I absolutely agree (not that it really matters) and try to teach my lifters the same way. Unfortunately I'm not quite so eloquent in my description as you are.

Dimas and khakiashvili from Greece were triple flexion but also double extension weightlifters. Both were three time Olympic gold medalists…..

Flexing after extension from non fully extended joints seems faster in my opinion. I got faster under the bar when I stopped putting to much emphasis on extending. I guess it’s all about generating force versus time to fixation.

I really struggle to extend full range in oly lifts. I come from years of powerlifting. Low bar squat, and strong conventional deadlift. Now into oly, ai really struggle in extension of knees and hips. May it be a matter of "dominance" Of back chain, glites and femours dominance, and lack of strenght in quads?

Indeed, a lift is a "make or break" at the FIRST pull, not at the triple extension. POSITIONS and VELOCITIES of body and bar have to be right: in a snapshot with bar and body in the right spot, but a motion that isn't right, then in the NEXT snapshot the positions aren't gonna be where they should! you have to "travel" along a certain path, from the start position on, with all those angles, accelerations, etc.. for that to happen! And this is also why the 1st pull is *NOT* *a* *deadlift* : A _deadlift_ ("dead" + "lift") is what we old weightlifters called a pull that went "DEAD", that is: _it couldn't be pulled further_ . Teach position FIRST, DO NOT TEACH "TOP DOWN" ! ( I call it "upside down" and that, with right).

For building power for some other purpose than the Olympic lifts? It's a fantastic way. Well-researched method and useful for taller athletes with longer legs.

Great video, coach Dane! Very educational! Strength coach Robert Dos Remedios often speaks about the importance of quadruple extension when training for sports - ankle, knee, hip, and lower back. What are your thoughts on this?

Have you got anything on quad tendon pain(pain above the knee) in weightlifting? I was warming up with a few snatch balances on Friday and my left knee started to get a constant pain from parallel to ass to grass. Still able to power snatch

somewhat. Could be used as a drill for kids who trouble to feel the extension
@shawncrawford93192 жыл бұрын
I disagree, there are many athletes that don’t understand how to incorporate their hips in the lift, then causing the athlete to muscle up the snatch, hips have to be incorporated
