the thing with the ego is, most senior nurses don't even want to genuinely teach you. it's like they've forgotten what it's like to be new.

New ADN grad here. Just accepted my first position in the ED. I really love your no bullshit attitude. You earned a new sub. Definitely taking your videos to heart. Show up, learn as much as you can, be humble.

Nursing school gives me the feeling that the more I know, the more i don’t know. I’m about to graduate in May and I’m set on the ER.

Yeah there seems to be too much charting that can take away time from caring for the patient ... but if you don't chart, you can be screwed if something comes up! :)

Digging the intro! You could shorten the intro a little if you wanted to cut down the time some between each new clip, but it was a nice mashup of what you bring to the table! I’m new to your channel. Thanks for sharing the information you do. I start my Nursing program next month and your information has been very helpful!
@CrosbyTheNomadNurse6 жыл бұрын
Thank You!! Yeah I'm gonna shorten it for sure. Stay tuned because I start teaching nursing school next month and I'm gonna have some more lectures on here as well. Maybe they will help you out

Crosby Steen, MSN, RN Awesome! I will definitely stay up on your channel. I’ve got notifications on 🙌🏻 Thanks for educating us and giving advice! I appreciate it man. Would you say it’s alright to work 2 days a week (14-16 hours) while in nursing school?
@CrosbyTheNomadNurse6 жыл бұрын
Yeah it should be fine. However, if you feel your grades are slipping, you need to quit ASAP. Nursing school comes at you extremely fast.

Don't carry phone around.. did I that since day 1. It's too easy to respond to texts or alerts and they can always wait.

I'm honestly scared to take the full time nights position at my hospital. I've been working as a NAP and the nurses are overworked and miserable. I don't want to be miserable lol I am starting school for my BSN in the fall. I'm tired of overworking myself. I have an offer at a LTC and they will let me work 2 days a week. The hospital wants me to sign a 2 year contract and the schedule calls for 3 days but they vary and they institute mandatory extra shifts. Is making a decision based on how many days a week I work a bad idea? Are all nursing jobs sad and exhausting? Is all management autocratic and punitive rather than encouraging? Sorry all of this. I guess I just miss my family and living life. When does it get better?

I'm a BSN grad starting out on a super busy Med Surg Tele floor. I'm in a nurse residency program and I really wanted to start in the emergency room, but there were no more spots available for that specific residency. My patient load is going to be 7 eventually, but they're starting me out at 5 after orientation. Do you think 2 years of experience with MedSurg/Tele is a good foundation for a new grad who eventually wants to do critical care or FNP?
@CrosbyTheNomadNurse6 жыл бұрын
I think it's a great foundation! I started out on Cardiac Step Down unit with a 4/1 pt/nur ratio. I feel like those early years in nursing are so important. You may find out that after 2 years you may jump to FNP and the overall skills you have will be so much better for that career.

Intro is cool, but a little too long. Cut it down, and it should be good. :)
