This hit me hard because I have a friend right now that I have known for 2 years but we've only been friends for 1. The first year I hated him only because of what I heard from other people. The next year I skipped a grade and we were then in all the same classes. I was alone and scared to be around older people when suddenly he talked to me. I didn't want him to so I talked back only to be polite. But we talked everyday and soon he became my best friend within 2 weeks. After those weeks he finally decided to himself that he trusted me enough to open up. He told me that he had a cutting problem, and he showed me his scares. He said that everyone bullies him and hates him because of what he looks like (which is kinda emo) and because of how rude he was back in the day. He said he had been to multiple mental hospitals and they still haven't fixed him. I had become all that he could confide in since his own parents and teachers didn't care. Then... He tried to kill himself. He has many times since then but everytime he does... He will text me. He will open up and I will convince him not to. He's been through so much now. His mother died, he was hated by everyone in the class, he was afraid I would leave him since they now hated me too, and a year later... He's moved away. I still keep in touch with him but he always makes sure I know how much I matter to him. And I do the same since I'm barely hanging on myself. So please, help someone out if they really need it.

I heard Mat mentioned this on GTLive and I never forgot it. In this world that we live in right now, we need more people like Mat, we need to be like Mat. If you can't do it in a larger scale, do it within your circle because it is really a matter of life and death. I've also had friends thank me too because of some simple thing that I've done for them that resulted for them to still be around. You might see it as simple, but being kind never brings a negative result. I've always been inspired by Mat or any other influencers that shows this kind of acceptance. It's so refreshing to know that they exist and we can do the same. Acceptance and empathy is key. It doesn't matter how many you had saved, what matters is that you are saving people. Like they say "Always try to do something for someone, instead of trying to do everything for everyone because if you always choose the latter, you'll end up doing nothing to no one. "

Wow. Like, wow. He was a freshman, and he planned out his suicide for that weekend. You prevented that. You know how you said there are many in that position? When I was a freshman, I planned on killing myself twice but could never go through with it. I still think about it, and like what would have happened if I tried, or even if I succeeded. Thank you for this speech, it was well said. I didn't have someone like you in that position, you know, like connecting with him that quickly and changed everything. Everyone avoided me, and I can't blame them. I was an outcast, very different from everyone else in pretty much everything. I still struggle but it's all good. Again, thank you. You are amazing. I doubt anyone will read this haha but I just wanted to say that.

I went back to your channel because I wanted to see if your content, it did get better, there's more variety which is something I really wanted to see But not only that but I found this, this is important and it's awesome, don't know what else to say, he is right and this is great, I love it I was kind of scared at 4:00 because I feared he was going to be like me, but he isn't. he's just fat, walks weird, and talks funny and that's the only thing we got in common A difference is that I use this to be funny, and I like it and people like it and well, I suggest people to try that (not in response to bullying but in response of their flaws) because it's a fun way to deal with them, of course you still need to fix your flaws IF THEY ARE REALLY FLAWS, if they aren't flaws don't, I still mix ketchup and mayonnaise and use ranch on chicken patties because those aren't flaws, just things people dislike and let's not let people change us, they can only suggest and you decide whether it's right to take that suggestion or not I find it right to take the suggestion of losing weight but not right to stop using ranch (since I can't find a reason other than people just not liking it. Ranch is like mayonnaise and is a better choice than mayonnaise if your school mayonnaise is trash)

Lives are fleeting like the wind, yet brittle as a piece smouldering dried clay. One little difference can be the final step, towards standing up after we falter... Or falling into the empty chasm beneath. I'm glad that there's people around who genuinely cares, for I too knew how powerful this pull that Mark felt... In short, I'm no longer suicidal. Though having been so for ten years, was rather disheartening...so thank you, really, thank you! :)

And, like he said, sometimes it was just knowing that my favorite channel would have another video on the weekend that kept me going for those few days. True story: This happened with me too. My friend, Will call him Sam, Was a new student in our 7th grade class. He was kinda overweight, and acted a bit weird all the time. No body liked him, But I thought he was cool. So one day I sat down with him introduced myself, and we became good friends. A few months later He started crying during a session about, Loneliness. I asked at the end of the class why he cried, and he said his mom, had died this year in the army. He then told me he was gonna take his own life, but then I became friends with him and thats what made him think otherwise. Thanks for reading.

When I was 16 years old, I was going to kill myself. I had a plan. I had the time, the place, the way I would do it. I didn't want to be alive anymore. My boyfriend had dumped me, I was off my medication, and my family was having trouble paying bills. I thought I would be of more help to others if I were dead. I felt like I was deadweight, like I was worthless. All of this happened in December of 2015 and January of 2016. I had started watching GTLive in June of 2015. For a long time, GTLive literally was the ONLY thing that kept me from jumping off of the 2nd story balcony of my highschool. I'm one timezone hour behind MatPat, so GTLive happens at 3 PM for me. My high school got out at 2:15. For a long time, the only thing that I felt I had to live for was to see Mat and Steph on the couch together, talking to me, playing video games, and treating me like I was worth something. Every day, I would go through the school day to be able to hang out with Mat and Steph. They were the only people who I felt I wasn't a nuisance to. They don't even know I exist. I'm one of millions of people. But it gave me something to live for, something to fight for. In March of that year, I started making KZbin videos. This gave me one more thing to fight for. Even if it was fighting simply so that I could upload the video I had made the night before, it was something to fight for. Weekends were hard. My parents' WiFi stinks, quite frankly, we couldn't afford unlimited, and it would take 3 hours to upload a 30 minute gameplay video. As a result, I would use the school WiFi to upload my videos. I would upload twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Combining no uploads with no GTLive, weekends were very difficult for me. There was many a Saturday where I wanted to give up, where I wanted to stop fighting. Then a little voice would say, "But Katie, if you give up, you'll miss GTLive! Don't you wanna watch Scary Games Friday?" It may seem stupid, but that is how I was able to comfort myself. I kept fighting, and slowly, very slowly, I finally was able to feel alive again. I may not have killed myself physically, but for a long time, I was dead. Emotionally, mentally, cognitively. The only way I was alive was in the medical sense. So Mat, and Steph, and Jason, and everyone. Thank you. If it weren't for you, I would be in a casket, 6 feet under, with every bone in my body crushed from jumping 10-15 feet off the balcony where I had my first kiss. Thank you for saving me. I know it's hard to understand, but you guys saved me. You really did.

I'm rewatching this after watching the latest video on the channel (Losing the Battle), and it breaks my heart to watch this after hearing about the loss of Ronnie. It's practically the exact same message, but here's the difference: this video is based on the war won, but the other is based on the battle, and the war, lost. We can never know what is going on inside someone's heart. What we do know is this: today could be the last day. The last day to show someone some kindness, to show that you care. To share the good news of Jesus Christ with them (yes, I'm a Christian). I'm praying for you guys, Matt, Steph, the baby, the other Theorists, the people of this community. Let's all take a moment to appreciate Matpat. He spends so long pouring passion and dedication into his theories, only to be met with mockery and anger for every little detail that's even slightly off. We're so hard on him, but why? Mat is a man that wants to help people. Every theory, no matter what it's about, has an impact on someone. He talks about what's important. He warns about companies that scam KZbinrs out of their money, he talks about why gamers on KZbin get bad reps, and he talks about how much of an impact we all truly have. Matpat does more than most people will ever know. So let's put aside some petty anger about Undertale or Mario or anything, and give this man some love. Let me tell you all a story of my own. 8th grade. I'll be honest, life was and still is kinda sh*tty. Toxic friendships, stress about school and grades, never being happy about my body, verbal and physical abuse from my sister. It was just too much. I began a spiral into depression, and did stuff like cutting myself. It was hard. I never told anyone, because of that little voice that told me that no one would care. Then one day by chance, i stumbled upon Game Theory and Film Theory. And somehow, i felt better than i had in a long time. MatPat isn't afraid to talk about what matters. He has this amazing personality, and somehow manages to lift my mood instantly just by watching his videos. Now in 9th grade, it's been around 7 months since i last harmed myself. So tell me, does Mat still deserve all the ridicule he gets?
