On paper they were both supposively singular entities but in reality they were basically a loose federation of nation/starsystems with there own autonomy, governance, and armies (such as the trade federations droid armies). And the systems/‘princes’ would debate on laws on there respective entities as a whole but they would also war and be on each other’s throats. And there Emperor/chancellor are elected by the senate/elected council for leadership rather then public vote. Palpatine did the equivalent of centralizing the empire and removed any autonomy of all of the princes.

Kuvira has some good points. The last few kings and queens nearly destroyed her home, the Earth Kingdom, and she saved it from falling apart. But, not everyone makes a good ruler, and there is an apt saying: take the throne to act and the throne shall act on you. She may still see herself as a hero, but her subjects and peers do not. BTW, probably already mentioned, but Kuvira is voiced by Zelda, Robbin William’s daughter.

Yeah, the monarchy hasn't done themselves much favors in terms of self image, maybe if Prince Wu had actually been there at the start of their whole Earth Kingdom restoration project and gave the feeling of a future ruler who actually cared about the people, then she might have been willing to actually support him the way she originally wanted to support Su in taking the reigns of the Earth Kingdom.

Yea Kuvira did step up, but I never supported her. She detained people who weren't of EK origin, which is a bit racist and even Opal said she enslaves locals from the towns she's conquered. I just had a thought- In “The Swamp” when Aang found Appa and Momo through the vines, they gave him a visualization of where they were and what was happening. But Toph is blind, so do the vines give her a visual as well? If they do, no wonder she stayed in the swamp. They took her in and have kept her in because since she was young, she was always at risk being kidnapped by the red lotus. She didn’t get to explore the world and it’s people until she was 17. Then she dealt with all these back to back conflicts and had to grow up and make complicated decisions all the while growing up in an era where the Avatar wasn’t appreciated as before. Book 4 is very similar to the time of Chin the Great in Kyoshi's time. Both Kuvira and Chin wanted to "unite" the Earth Kingdom but turned into ruthless dictators and were both stopped by the Avatar in a devastating way towards the very last piece of land they wanted :3

Korra is not trash. They literally nerfed her every season. She’s a good fighter as we seen multiple times and then they always nerf her just or keep it interesting. She beating Tarrlok, oh blood bender; she beating Vaatu, oh Bolin and mako can’t hold back Unalaq so he cheap shots her and now she gotta fight a op ass waterbender who was her TEACHER and with an OP spirit fusion to boost his powers. She beating Zaheer but she poisoned and it starts really bodying her as soon as she about to two piece him. They stay giving Korra L’s bc otherwise y’all call her a Mary Sue and swear she’s too OP. And that’s just fighting. In S1 she a hotheaded, cocky teenager who finds out her sheltered life isn’t how the world actually works in the hardest ways, in S2 she founds out that not even blood can have your back when he literally manipulates her and her eagerness to actually do her job and screws her out of her previous exp, S3 literally told her your actions good or bad have consequences and those consequences can have the worst outcomes, and this is all while being told consistently that the world doesn’t need the avatar. Something she’s put her entire identity in. Korra having PTSD is the most realistic thing they could’ve done and all y’all calling her week just means y’all have no depth perception.

Fun fact: In the book "The rise of Kyoshi" The Beifong name was in the book and were incredibly wealthy due to the land they owned and the help the provided in helping to find who the avatar was and to think if Toph would have stayed with her family and didn't go with the gang she would've been the richest women in the world..........the thought of toph being extremely rich just scares me hahaha

I actually think Kuvira is not a big opponent against Korra. This season is about Korra vs Korra. Yes, kuviera is a great master, but she is not Zaheer or Unalaq, OR Vaatu. You can see that korra can beat Kuvira in the avatar state, but Korra couldnt against Zaheer or Unalaq. It’s like you put Korra vs the fire lord, Korra can beat the fire lord in one second.

People are too harsh on Korra. The way she is written is pretty realistic compared to how Aang was. While Korra acts more like a real young girl would act with all the Avatar responsabilities she has, Aang and his friends were just a bunch of kids that somehow not just survived every battle but also saved the world. Calling Kuvira a dictator is such a simplistic way at looking at her character and governance. All the leaders are basically "dictators." The Fire nation and Water tribe are still following hereditary rule, and their power is absolute. What actually best describes Kuvira is a nationalist, where the strength and wellbeing of the nation is put above the individual. But just like the other 3 books, the theme of extreme ideology ultimately creates problems for the people. That is the main theme of the Korra series. To paraphrase Toph, Amon wanted equality for all, Unalaq brought back the spirits, and Zaheer wanted ultimate freedom. Problem is they were out of balance and took it too far, as did with Kuvira who wanted absolute order.

She had a completely different set of obstacles as Aang..she also didn't travel w 3 master benders (they were technically masters by book 3) plus other extremely strong masters by his side. The world she inherited was vastly different from the world of atla. We have no clue how Aang would've been in the same situations..being poisoned, the red lotus (who were literally created due to the white lotus helping Aang), he didn't deal w family betrayal or harmonic convergence. I feel like everyone compares them when you can't due that.. their paths are not the same.

The Earth Empire has done many bad things but many people of the empire are having freedom, liberty, justice, happiness, prosperity, etc in their towns and cities, Kuvira was inspired by the major negative effects of having useless kings and queens and actually wants the Earth Kingdom to have freedom, liberty, justice, happiness, prosperity, etc so she created the Earth Empire to help, she is partly motivated by power but primarily motivated for the prosperity of the Earth citizens (she doesn't want the Earth Kingdom to have to go through what she has).

I agree she wants to control her land but for the great of the people. As we see in the books about the Fire Nation colonies it created such a problem that war almost happened. Kuvira sees that other benders are the problem and really the Earth Kingdom had no major problems unlike the Fire Nation war and colonies and the Water tribe civil war, so if there are no more other benders in her society, the Empire would be "perfect" and no more promblems.
