In this case, Korra is a whole different individual, the only thing that linked her and Aang was the Avatar cycle, which she restarted. She's the first Avatar in a whole new cycle. Lol

@@uninterruptedrhythm4104 Reincarnation stopped making sense to me when it was revealed that essentially Raava posses a new host every time the current host dies. I thought the idea of reincarnation is that the same soul is shared through different lives. But Wan existed as his own person before he fused with Raava, so Wan is his own person/his own soul. Also all spirits can go and posses any human they want too. The fusing of Raava and the Avatar is one of the those things that didn't need explaining because it just complicates everything. It's like how the force in Star Wars is due to the midochlorians.

@@Max25670 the reason the reincarnation happens is BECAUSE of Raava, her spirit is shared through each avatar but they’re still their own individuals. And the avatar and raava are bonded forever due to harmonic convergence, normal humans can bond with spirits but it wouldn’t be permanent. And it’s been shown that while raava is the direct spirit the individual avatar still has their own soul/spirit, like when Korra’s spirit fought Unavaatu. It’s not that confusing tbh

@@hatch_18 Nope, Appa was never sick, his tongue was just purple and no one dared to ask him to fly and test it out. Sokka and Toph both ate the berries, that's how they discovered it makes the tongue purple and used that evidence to bust Katara and Aang. The night before that Aang even says "Is Appa even sick?" to which Katara responds "He's probably sick of the berries i've been feeding him" which implies that he wasn't ill, just tired of eating the same food repeatedly.

Korra literally has PTSD from her past experiences, one in which, took her bending, another severed her connection to her past lives and the last poisoned and came very close to killing her in the avatar state. Tldr: Two main points: A: All avatars did major fuckups. B: Aang didn’t face many long lasting consequences for his mistakes so when Korra does she gets slack. If Korra handled Unulaq and Vaatu no sweat, blind Korra hate would be pretty quiet but the story would be worse off. Korra wouldn’t get trauma and the stakes presented by each villain would feel low. There was a scene in ATLA where Aang gets told by 4 different avatars how they fucked up. It’s actually much worse than what they said too - for instance, Kyoshi founded the Dai Li secret police which need no explanation. If it had been Korra who ran away from her Avatar duties and got frozen for 100 years, allowing Sozin to genocide the air nomads and countless water tribe/earth kingdom people in an expansionist war, you fucking wouldn’t hear the end of it. Avatars are just people linked to a spirit, they make mistakes all the time. Personally I think Aang didn’t face enough obstacles he wouldn’t have to deal with if he hadn’t made mistakes in the past; Aang could have had more issues where firebending was a solution to illustrate how dumb his refusal to firebend after burning Katara was, or an actual consequence from refusing to kill Ozai. At least he had a lot of introspection before the asspull that was taking Ozai’s bending, but I always felt like Aang never had to resolve the conflict between his duties as an avatar and legacy as the last airbender. He solved it by getting an eleventh hour ability out of nowhere from a lion turtle saying “if you’re really stubborn about it you can do it”. To me it made the whole inner conflict a bit pointless if it can be resolved effortlessly in the end. All he had to do was be really sure he didn’t want to kill Ozai. Ofc avatar fans will go apeshit if you say anything like this but really, it was the least elegant ending to the character arcs in atla. Maybe the other one is Toph never really connecting with her parents again, but she’s more static as a character. Imo you can’t say you love a story if you can’t see the imperfections, though. A guy on patreon once said it wasn’t really fair for Roshi to commend HxH whenever Gon’s actions (most of which are mind boggingly stupid) had negative consequences for him but criticize whenever the same happens with Korra - and Roshi acknowledged it too.

That should be enough details for you to find it. Either way, the question of interest in that forum was; Is Kuvira a master earth bender and where does she compare to other earth benders e.g Toph, Lin, Su, Ghazan, Bolin etc? Mike responded by saying; Well, there's not exactly a ranking system, but I'm sure Toph would give her a good fight. But yes, Kuvira would be considered a master of both earth and metalbending, for sure.

She’s not wrong. Nothing is working for the earth kingdom, their royal families are corrupt and their police is dystopian. Of course dictatorship isn’t the answer, but the results Kuvira is producing (albeit shortsighted) can’t be argued with. It’s not right, but you can very clearly see why this has happened irl. This is how dictators have taken power throughout history, by offering guaranteed peace and fixing what everyone has been so sick of (and quickly). It’s very easy to rally behind, especially when it starts “working”. The issue is that this eventually creates new and often worse problems, where military force is commonplace and one ruthless person controls everything. Remember all the people see is Kuvira uniting the earth kingdom, not the manipulation and use of force. The interesting thing Kuvira is saying is that if there’s a better way she will be glad to hear it, but there doesn’t seem to be one. The right thing to do would be to solve this peacefully and diplomatically, but that takes forever and corruption prevents it from working. She’s basically Thanos, clearly evil yet still can’t be proven wrong given the circumstances. They see themselves as “stepping up” to do what needs to be done, but it’s ultimately short sighted.

Ikki distracting Jinora by talking while the latter is meditating is similar to how Aang was not able to cross over to the Spirit World due to Katara and Yue's talking distracting him. Aang saw Toph for the first time in form of a vision in the swamp, which is the place where Toph ends up living. There are several similarities between the time Team Avatar flew over the swamp in "The Swamp" and when the airbending children did so: A member of each team, namely Aang and Ikki, wanted to head down to the swamp with the other two members, Sokka/Katara and Jinora/Meelo respectively, disagreeing. When trying to resume their journey, both Appa and Pepper get pulled down into the swamp. When asked about the swamp, both Aang and Ikki reasoned that the swamp wanted them to land there.
