Mike Patton has done so much outside of Faith No More with so much variety, his talent and versatility are almost unmatched. Kiedis can barely sing without autotune, while Patton sang Italian classics (in Italian) with a full orchestra, never mind the wild stylings of Mr. Bungle and Fantomas.

Prob the way Mike likes it. Pops, well popularity is for shitty rock like the RHCP do now. They haven't made a good funky album since BSSM. Calaforication was good harmonically and eventually grew on me. But the first few times I listened to it was like, where the fuck is the funk. BSSM is when the funk ended and pretty much their only alum I listen to these days.

@jaymiller60095 ай бұрын
Anthony Kiedis is one of those people who was incredibly lucky and being in the right place at the right time made all the difference in the world for him. With the “childhood” he had, I’d bet that the odds were over 90% for him to wind up in a cemetery or a prison before age 25. He was extraordinarily lucky to have wound up friends with Hillel Slovak and Flea. Without those two friends, Anthony Kiedis would have never been behind a microphone. He couldn’t sing and his “singing” was spoken word; rapping. However, over time he was given the opportunity to become better at being a singer because of how talented he was as a front man. The wild antics of RHCP is what allowed them to get their start and hone their craft. When John Frusciante came into the band, he brought a vast wealth of musical knowledge and genius with him. Both he and Rick Rubin encouraged Anthony to take singing lessons. The dedication, time, and effort that Anthony put into singing was able to open up vast worlds of musical possibilities for the band. Had he never learned to sing melodically, RHCP would have NEVER gone on to become huge. They would have stagnated in the late 1980’s and broken up. Flea, John Frusciante, and Chad Smith are all top level musicians on their respective instruments and would have definitely gone into other bands or formed their own and been successful. Anthony Kiedis would not have enjoyed any further success as a musician and would have probably been just a friend to the various musicians he knew. But, he defied the odds, made a massive success of himself, and has been an integral part of bringing some of the very best, most listened to, most enjoyed music that has ever been created. RHCP is significantly greater than the sum of its parts.

Wow ! Though Florida doesn’t get the credit it deserves. When I began to discover that so many of the of the greatest musicians were either from Florida are spent a significant amount of time here , as a Native Floridian I was intrigued. To name just a few of them we’re talking people like. Tom Petty, Jim Morrison from the doors . Lead singer of the smashing pumpkins who spent a portion of his life in my native born city and lifelong home of St Petersburg Fl, now I find out Anthony Keidis . There’s more that I know of and many more I’m sure I don’t. These musicians leave Fl for places like California, New York and Nashville depending on the genre of music. We even have rappers who fan out to locations like Atlanta where they have a much better chance of getting exposure to their music and from there maybe make some lucrative deals. What would be interesting , is to see these musicians, at least the ones still alive. Talk about what part of Florida they roamed and what kind of influence these places had on their music and why

Call him Roger, because he’s no king.😂

@@75YBA Old guy's old story: I did my "Civil Service", in Krautland that was when you denied military service and did something sensible (working with handicapped people in my case), living in the baracks. And there was junkfood and improved cigarettes and cans of Tuborg and then, like some divine accident, there was that album, "Melvins - Bullhead". And when you listen to that- the evilest drum part ever in "Cow", the genius of "If I Had An Exorcism", the power of "It's Shoved"... Roger IS King, praise him! 🥰🎸

Matt Patton totally ripped off Anthony. Anthony was doing that performance thing wayy back in 1985.

Did you forget to mention that he "had relations" with a 14 year old girl, hence, Catholic School Girls, or did I fall asleep during that part? When you got to the part about the dentist I thought you were going to say that the dentist broke his front tooth, but it was something else. 🤡

I didn't know AK was from Grand Rapids. Way to make Michigan look bad.

I can't help but think AK's father is a weird cross between Tom Waits and Mickey Rourke... just more sinister.
