These so-called celebs can't resist hamming in on someone else's performance to get the attention they live for.

I think in some cases people may recognize them but not want to bother them. In other cases people may not know what they look like especially if they are older and have been out of the public eye like Roger Waters. Also a context thing, you don't expect famous people to just be in certain places so may not make the connection. And a generational thing where some people just have no clue about some of the most famous musicians or may know the music and not the faces. With Paul McCartney, Steven Tyler and Mick Jagger, though, I cannot imagine people not recognizing them. I worked at Tower Records for years in the late 80's and into the 90's and Elton John was a regular customer at the store in Atlanta. He would come in early in the day when there are very few other shoppers and just be dressed normally and he was usually not bothered by anyone. Although on one occasion another customer recognized him and then just looked around wondering if anyone else realized Elton John was standing right there.

Having lived in central London for every one of my 60 years it would be easier to tell you which famous people I HAVE’NT seen walking around Kensington,including Johnny Rotten and Jimmy Page most recently.😅😅
