Shatner loved to pilfer food from other sets too which proved to be a godsend on one occasion as he thought he smelt BBQ and went in search of it and found a fire had started one of the studios, he then raised the alarm preventing it from being much worse. And we all know Bond packs a small pistol.

Best instance of the Vulcan nerve pinch: Star Trek IV the voyage home. Enterprise crew goes back to 1994 and a Klingon bird of prey to save the whales. Spock is on the bus in San Francisco, and a punk with a boombox is bothering everyone on the bus. The Spock does the nerve pinch and knocks him out. The rest of the passengers on the bus cheer loudly.

Love that Karl got out of doing the ad read himself and found a way to integrate it pretty "seamlessly" into the usual format. I really enjoy that he has stuck to his morals on sponsorships and seems to refuse to let them take away from the quality of the video. Edit: capitalizing Karl's name because it was getting to me.
@Nostripe361

And it is for something, Star Trek, that he likes. So I am happy that he can get the channel a sponsor while keeping true to himself.

How the hell is this keeping his cherry-picked morals?
@thomasdahlberg5920
@thomasdahlberg5920 2 жыл бұрын
@@dahken417 Well, there was still only one ad. He removed the youtube ads from the video, as he does with all sponsored videos. Also, his main opposition to scripted ads was that they usually come with alot of other stipulations, such as "do not mention a competitor of ours", "you have to read this script within 90 second of the video starting" etc... Clearly, this was not the case as it was well over 2 and a half minutes into the video before they read the ad. Karl also didn't read the ad out himself. He let Lucas do it, who clearly wanted to do the ad. And it was for a franchise he enjoys. Clearly, you haven't watched many of his videos because from SEVERAL of his videos,, it's pretty apparent that if it was really something that went against his morals, he wouldn't have done it. Period. You're just salty that you're favorite "underground entertainment" got sponsored by a bigger company.

I did the nerve pinch to my friends and told them how to do it as a kid (8 to 10 years maybe), it doesn't knock someone unconscious, but it hurt as fuck, and it spread through the whole school (specially between the girls) to the point where I saw kids doing it even in my last highschool year

There is something equivalent irl, however due to trauma risk it isn't as much a "stun setting phaser effect" and more "we have evolved a response to curl up and shut down when struck like this because those who had that response were more likely to have babies". Liver punch, liver shot. The liver is extremely important, has a massive amount of vascular tissue in and around it, plays key roles in an untold number metabolic activities for minute to minute...well life and *a lot* of very important nerves. When struck properly (force and angle) it sends a shock through your system and the autonomic system responds. That part that controls things like breathing and heart rate. You curl up, fall down, and black out in the most painful experience (arguably) that a human central nervous system can sustain and still be functioning. Note: this isn't necessarily unconsciousness like "oh I'm blackout drunk or asleep". It's "there is so much pain throughout the entire central and peripheral nervous system *:* muscle groups a-d and 5-12 contract, and shut down any ability to do anything but pain." If consciousness is lost that is generally more merciful, as you are unable to interact and trapped within an unresponsive body. It results in many TKOs, partially due to the complete loss of function and partially due to the recognition (now) of how absolutely dangerous it is when the subject is experiencing it. The difference between, "unconscious due to nerve shut down" and "unconscious due to internal hemorrhaging" is not apparent without medical examination. It has happened enough times in full contact sports where you can look up video footage. If you know what's going on biologically, seeing the human form seize and just drop like that is chilling.

15:45 The main reason they're all flings is that the one time he was in a serious relationship (to the point where he got married), the woman was murdered. Granted, it was a classic fridging, but it's the only thing remotely resembling character development in the first 50 years of the franchise. The real tragedy of the story is that it was On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Lazenby couldn't act for shit.

I think 'Picard can pinch because of mind-meld with Sarek' is one of those moments where I will begrudgingly accept it, but Data actually makes sense if it is about strength and anatomical knowledge. As has been shown a number of times, he is much stronger than a human, and could easily have learned the technique through archives or something.
