Not going to lie, it’s also scary how easy it is to avoid searchers if you really want to - I ran away once as a child due to abuse and I lived in a rural area. There were police, dogs, helicopters, and half the village out looking for me, and I was literally dodging police cars, misleading the sniffer dogs and had helicopters flying right over my head without a single person noticing where I was hidden. A determined person, especially one who knows their way around the area, can slip by unnoticed disturbingly easily.

I've heard about that final case before, and it's still wild to me that with his clothes neatly folded INSIDE the cabin, rebar over the top of the chimney, and even an object placed in front of the chimney to hide him, it's considered "accidentally" and the coroner never changed that ruling. The friend that later did a crime spree, I wouldn't be surprised if Josh was h is first "trial" murder to see how it goes, and getting away with that he became more bold. But who knows really, it may not have been him, but I think it definitely was a murder.

The Stacey Arras case is very sad. I have been in that area many times. My personal theory is that she got lost, it started to get dark and she panicked. Very easy to do, trust me. The terrain around there is very rugged and dangerous. She probably went farther than they seasrched. When people panic they tend to go faster and don't think straight. She may have fallen down a cliff or revine in the dark, maybe even into a river. I hope one day they find her remains.
@SunRabbit

She couldn't have gotten very far even if she wanted to because she was wearing flip flops in some rugged terrain. She was with 6 other people plus her father and they had encouraged her to put on hiking boots before venturing out to the lake. Lake itself sits at the bottom of a funnel, so it doesn't take a whole lot of skill to stay on the lake's edge and go around it. Also, there were about 50 other campers on site and the lake's edge is visible from the campsite, so this definitely looks like something unexpected took her.

So Josh SOMEHOW moved a heavy breakfast bar by himself that would likely take two people, stripped himself down to just the shirt he was found in, folded the clothes, climbed up to the roof and entered the previously blocked off chimney, went down head first towards a blocked fireplace, dislocated his hips in the process and decided to just curl up and die there. And its considered to be an accidental death, yeah that doesn't sit right. I also find it strange it took that long to find the body, someone knows something and they aren't coming forward for whatever reason.

From my point of view, it’s a serial killer. Look up Harley Dilly - he was found in the same way. He “shimmied out of his clothes while in the chimney to get more room to breathe” according to investigators. And that someone must have neatly folded them, put his glasses on top, and hung his hoodie on the door. Checks out. 🙄

Unfortunately, I agree with the coroner. This case has all the hallmarks of classic terminal burrowing syndrome. A unique and rare form of hypothermia that can occur in temperatures as high as 60 degrees. More or less, the brain cools down so gradually that the victim doesnt realize its happening. The victim becomes more and more confused and disoriented as their brain shuts down from the body temperature slowly dropping. One of the symptoms is paradoxical undressing where the individual removes their clothes because the primal part of the brain believes they are contributing to the hypothermia, though as seen in many cases, they still might have enough rational thought left to fold the clothes or lay them out. They start exhibiting erratic behavior. And the final hallmark is, as higher brain function closes off, the person will build a shelter, hide behind an object, find a tree or find a cave, curl up in the fetal position and go to sleep, believed to be the brain stem protecting the body in case it warms back up. The existence of terminal burrowing is one reason for my disgust with pallides about the missing 411. He cites serial killers and weird forces, but the reality is, most of the US parks will meet the temperature ranges for TBS or gradual hypothermia at some or all of the year. And many of his strangest cases exhibit all the hallmarks of someone suffering from the condition. Underdressed for the weather, outdoors for extended periods, alone or in an area where they can easily become disoriented or lost.

Search parties are notoriously bad at finding missing people. In Arkansas we had an 18-year-old girl that went missing near a park. The search parties never found anything. The belief was that she was kidnapped and was a victim of human trafficking. 5 years later her remains was found less than 100 yards. from where her vehicle was parked.

Thank you! I'm always confused when people take the fact that a missing person hasn't been found (or has been found later inside the previously searched area) as proof of someting "weird" or supernatural going on. I once lost my keys in my tiny garden and found it only after half an hour of searching even though it has a bright orange keychain... When you lay out the actual concrete details and scrub away the stuff that's unfortunately been added in on the internet over the years, it's not too mysterious. There's some misinformation that's been added in over time, like in a game of telephone, with the retelling of the story and people just repeat stuff without verification because it sounds more compelling and people like mysteries. For one thing, it's never been proven that his clothes were neatly folded inside and the rebar was likely rusted away or easily removable after a few decades past installation; I doubt the 80 something year old man ever checked to see if it was still there. I used to do shit like that as a stupid teenager with my dumb friends - we'd wriggle our ways into abandoned homes/buildings at night to hang out in and check them out. Joshua seems to have been doing the same thing we did back in the day. He tried to slide down the chimney like a worm head first, got wedged in and died a deeply tragic, miserable death. Death by misadventure. I've learned over the years - after many, MANY times - to stop taking everything I hear on the internet at face value, and try to decipher as best I can what's fact and what's likely just been unwittingly added into stories by people on the internet. Sometimes "mysteries" are just simple cases that have been twisted and gnarled by strangers repeating the story over a long period of time and the kernels of truth get buried.

You'd like to think a bear is a 500+ pound behemoth and EASY to notice a mile away... that a pack of wolves or coyotes are EXACTLY like those damn dogs down the street that just WON'T shut up for 5 damn minutes... Surely, even a bobcat or puma is still BIG, and your neighbor's stupid tabby only weighs about 10 or 15 pounds and sounds like a small ELEPHANT romping over your roof or across your porch raising all manners of hell... Nope... That's just not how Maw Nature likes to play. In the wild places, acoustics are a weird and fickle bitch! Predators "on the prowl" are deathly silent, and you might only get a couple seconds, and you're either doing something (like shoot or fight) or you're already dead. Half rotted trees drop branches regularly, and widow-makers fall from time to time, completely unnoticed by the nearest humans, IN SPITE of the fact that anywhere from 500 pounds to several TONS of wood just crashed down in the woods... That STUPID riddle asks, "If nobody's around when a tree falls in the woods, does it still make a sound?" Well, from personal experience, about half the time, the g** d*** thing doesn't make a PEEP even when you're RIGHT THERE to hear it! SO what can WE learn??? Well, for starters, NEVER EVER be out of eye-sight from the rest of your party for more than a couple minutes... long enough to poop and stand back up to wave... You don't have to be chained together at the hips, but keep EYES on each other. MAYBE 100 feet or at most (while you're armed) even 100 yards distance is good enough for some space to breathe when you're out there... Otherwise, ALWAYS move in at least pairs... You're better off in 3's, if we're honest. With pairs, at least, one person CAN go get help after doing what little they can to stabilize the injured... BUT it's not great. In 3's, one can sit aside, keep a watch and defend the injured as much as anything, while the third runs for help... DO THAT as much as you can. You can be alone in your thoughts with someone else just about 100 feet off, keeping an eye out for you, making sure you don't slip or get attacked. AND FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST... Get something to defend yourself with. It doesn't have to be a 9mm... An old shotgun or hunting rifle is fair enough, from a lever action 30-30 to a 12 gauge... or anything in between, as far as firearms go, it's plenty... Keep it in good working order, well oiled and clean, and KNOW WHAT THE F*CK YOU'RE DOING WITH IT! YOU bear the full responsibility for it, once it's in your possession. "I'm sorry" doesn't fix what you can f*ck-up hopeless with a gun... so no, it's not a magic cure-all for everything. Those do NOT exist. It's not a mark against you as a human being to have a weapon. It's a mark of stupidity when something is eating your ass with their baked potato because you went stumbling around alone, in the woods, in the friggin' dark, armed with nothing... not even a d*ck in your hands to show for yourself. It's ALWAYS better to have the tool and not need it, than it's ever going to be to need it and NOT have one... I don't care what it is. ;o)

TBF, it's not that weird in Yosemite's case due to its massive visitor influx. My top guess for the particular girl's case is abduction. I know from a bit of experience that wilderness areas attract a high bad-person-per-capita ratio; then add the variables that she was 14, by herself, and according to a Google Maps scan there's a paved road cutting right through the area.

With Josh's case, I can't imagine a person putting themselves upside-down, half naked, and curled up into a ball in a chimney. That has to be someone stashing a body. Stacy was an attractive 14 year old girl in a remote area. I think someone snatched her and either trafficked her or kept her for themselves. Jason, no motivation to run away, learning disabilities, another disappearance a month later, I lean towards an abduction. These bother me. Excellent presentation.

Ok, let's walk through stashing a body. You just suffocated somebody for some reason or another. You try to think where to put them. You have an entire woodland to dig a hole. But you insanely assume that dragging a grown adult onto a roof and shoving it down the chimney is a better alternative. A method that not only exposes the body to air to maximize smell, but could rot, come loose, and fall at any point. Plus you keep just a shirt on his body but keep his other clothing neatly folded inside. And you drag furniture in front of the fireplace, maximizing suspiciousness. At the very least would you not toss the clothes down the chimney? I never buy somebody being completely insane but having the presence of mind to dispose of a body. There's something so malicious and strangely inhumanely evil about the disappearances across all these cases including grown men just disappearing without a trace mere meters behind their fellow campers and such on a trail nowhere near any foliage/etc. The Missing 411 is definitely something I recommend if the first story caught anyone's attention. I actually feel like the foul-play angle on the Josh case is really weak. The metal grid probably never existed. The owner just lied about it to cover his ass in the event the deceased's family tried to sue him. The breakfast bar being moved could have happened basically any time. The cabin was literally in the process of being renovated when they found the corpse. The folded clothes actually make more sense from the perspective that he went down the chimney intentionally. He'd take them off and put them aside to keep them from getting dirty. Also why would his killer go through the trouble of hiding his corpse and then just leave his clothes around? That's not even getting into how difficult and ridiculously conspicuous it would be to haul his corpse onto the roof and shove him in there. Like the coroner mentioned it would probably take multiple people and they'd be REALLY visible while doing it. Worst case maybe somebody dared him to do it and then didn't call for help when it went wrong.

@mrreyes5004
@mrreyes5004 Жыл бұрын
@@benworsham1466 Not really. It doesn't explain WHY he entered on his own. Why take off all of his clothes except the shirt? The video also mentioned that Josh preferred alone time on his walks, so the idea that he ran into someone or a group who dared him to do it is quite weak. Also, asking "who is going to hide a body in a chimney" is a rather useless question, because obviously many killers are known to leave the bodies of victims in strange places (for f*ck's sake, a suspect mentioned that a body was stuffed in a barrel instead of buried). Sorry, but I'm not buying it. I also rather believe that the rebar grid was installed, because 1) it does make sense to keep out pesky animals, and 2) there is likely at least some financial record of the owner ordering the rebar to be installed. Many of these ideas just seem more like excuses than true reasoning.

If Jason already had access to the cabin in order to put his clothes there then why would he ever enter the chimney? Also if breakfast bar was already in front of it he'd know he wouldn't be able to get out. If some innocent person moved the breakfast bar later, they would have noticed the clothes and either disposed of them or called the police. Most likely he was murdered, shoved in the chimney and the bar moved to further hide the body in the event it fell all the way down at some point. Clothes were probably there before and left as an oversight by the killer.

After removing the rusty rebar out of the concrete, Someone or a multiple people definitely dropped josh into chimney by holding his legs while one would assume he was unconscious or maybe he was fully aware but was being restrained in some way. Which is baffling bc the toxicology was negative and supposedly there was no trauma on the head. That being said both hips were dislocated which requires force. 22:40 I’ve literally dislocated my hip which I feel like is pretty rare for a young person. It happened when I was 14 too in a very odd fluke accident playing football. To dislocate your hip and not break it is incredibly difficult. It would take very, very intentional movement. I’m highly skeptical someone could maneuver themselves in such a position methodically in the immense amount of pain it would require gently enough also to not break your hips in the process. The impact of dislocating a hood is the painful part. The actual action itself wasn’t painful just highly disturbing have an entire leg in the complete opposite direction then just uncomfortable like it fell asleep. But the MOMENT I even moved it in any way or anyone touched it it was utter agony. There’s simply no possible way that part he could endure for any extended period of time and not lose consciousness

I almost got lost in Yosemite once. Went by myself to a hike I had never been to before, was supposed to be 8-12 miles, one way, leading to a trio of lakes. After about 6 hours of hiking, I had only met 1 couple on the trail and I came up on a tent after 6 hours, nobody was around, I called out, peeked inside and it seemed it was put up not that long ago, but the trail ended there. It just faded. I walked around for half an hour to see if I could find it but didn’t, then I had trouble finding my way back to the tent. I found my way by looking at the rock stacks someone had made and the barely perceptible path back on the side of a flat faced Rocky Mountain. I found my way back to the road by around 9 pm, it was dusk and I made it back to my car at 10 pm, walking the last 3 miles on the side of the road, didn’t even come out of the trail I went into. When people go missing in parks in the forest, if their remains ARE found, they're often found outside of the search area. Sometimes it seems like they don't look far enough away. It's understandable they want to search the area where they _think_ the person likely was more intensely than spreading out too far, but it seems like they should search beyond the more immediate area. Also if people do get lost, they should resist the urge to wander around and try to be patient and remain in one place. Which is understandably difficult to do when you start to get panicky. I've gotten lost in a large park myself and that panicky feeling when you realize you've lost your way is awful and can drive you to get further lost and distant.

My best theory for that one is that the woman was trying to get herself and her child away from her husband, who I read somewhere else was abusive. She did remove their jackets and shoes in the elevator & when she 3xited, it was on the 11th floor and she then entered a stairwell (that apparently didn't have a camera, nor did most of the hallways or anything). A suitcase was also found at the top of those stairs. It's very possible she knew someone in the building (it was mixed business and residential) and they disguised them and got back k out of the building before the building security started searching for them, which wasn't until a good bit after they'd left the elevator. It wasn't until then that they started looking closely at everyone leaving so they easily could have dressed the woman completely different and even ma6be hidden the little girl in a case or something so it didn't look like a woman and child leaving the building in the time before the search started.

Story 1- No foul play. Lost or hurt in the woods, eventually died in the wilderness. Story 2- ABSOLUTELY foul play, whether by the s offender up the road, the suspicious neighbor who moved away or someone else entirely law enforcement hadn’t yet caught onto, but the second kid disappearing the same way one month later in such close proximity absolutely seals it for me. Absolutely taken and/or killed, absolutely foul play. Story 3- No foul play. Understandably, the victim sounded not entirely stable. Maybe he used that cabin many times before as a safe place to get away from things and had never had problems and this time for whatever reason, whether he locked himself out, was feeling adventurous or some other reason decided to try going down the chimney, get got stuck and died a slow miserable death. Butttt no foul play. Just speculation obviously. Enjoy this series and diving/cave exploring incidents the most. Not into the horrible fated series. Please keep these up!

Doesn’t matter if a kid is or isn’t a runaway. The police have a responsibility to find them. Unfortunately in Jason’s case, despite having learning disabilities, he was an adult who didn’t need constant supervision or anything. Still, it’s kind of tragic that they waited so long to really start an official search.

I also remember that the lake was closer than 2 miles and that it was close enough to see except there was a line of trees, not a forest, but some trees one would walk through to reach the lake. Another YT poster said the older man got tired, but he didn’t walk back to camp, he sat on a large rock and watched as Stacy disappeared in to the tree line. That was the last time she was seen by anyone in the group.

Glaringly obvious that foul play occurred ? I think its more plausible that he was inside the cabin, took off his pants then went outside for something, but found the door had locked/ was stuck and decided that he could get back in through the chimney and got stuck as a result. Then the fireplace could have been blocked later on by someone else trying to contain the smell of a dead animal not realizing that someone's loved one was inside. I just can't see why a person or multiple people who committed a homicide would go through all the work and risk of getting caught/spotted by hauling a body onto the roof and into the chimney.

Anyone who puts their name and face at the forefront of these cases rather than the missing/dead gets a huuge sideeye from me. And even now there are people in the comment section spouting his crap. The sad thing is if the police and authorities had just done their jobs properly you wouldn't get these clout-chasers building whole ass careers and cults of personality off of people's trauma. Discussions about aliens/bigfoot/underground cults/whatever the fuck else do nothing but distract from the actual real human beings who are missing/unsolved deaths and the way these people treat it like it's some kind of joke or a TV show, lowkey makes me sick. Also on top of that like.. forests and nat parks are big and full of wild animals and holes to fall in, cliffs to fall off etc.. people are gonna go missing and die in them sadly especially if they're overconfident/not careful, sometimes it's really not that deep (not referring to the cases in the video so much as the "missing 411" in general. \sorry for the rant lol it just really annoys me.

Seems plausible but I still think the most likely theory is that she got lost and fell into a hole of some kind. That first story you told is not an impossible disappearance. There are many possible things that could've happened. For one, the elderly gentleman who decided to walk a 14-year-old girl into the woods just the two of them could have easily done something to her, or somebody else could've come along later when a young 14-year-old girl was sitting by herself at a lake in the woods. It's not mysterious at all. It's incredibly tragic and unfortunate, but certainly nothing even remotely close to paranormal or anything like that.
