I am 44 yrs old and have been straightening my hair since I was 29. I am just starting this week trying to go natural again. SO MUCH has changed since I last went natural. I am so glad I found your videos! I have 3a-3b and VERY frizzy hair! Right now, I am trying shea moisture products. If they don't work, I will move on. I hope I can figure a good combination by the end of summer. Wish ne luck!

I love using a massaging shampoo brush (not sure what else to call it). It really gets in there and helps to cleanse the scalp, even with low- or no-poo cleansers. And it gives your arms, wrists, and hands a break! 🙃

hi!! i have a similar curl pattern & im also a ginger so i’m so happy to have found your channel!! i’d love you see a video about how you get your hair cut because that’s always my biggest struggle (knowing what to ask for, how to explain things) and i’d love to know what your haircut process is like (layers? shape? cut wet/dry? etc) thank you 💞💕

Very informative! However it’s incorrect that only sulfates will remove silicones: Gentle surfactants like cocamindopropyl betaine and coco betaine will as well. I understand that silicones are not curly girl method but something to clarify is that they also trap moisture IN hair so for some hair types this helps with moisture retention. I have gone silicone free and at first my hair felt straw like, but after a month or so my hair adjusted and feels very soft without them so it can just take time. I’ve found your videos really helpful in trying to make the most out of my wavy hair, thank you!

Yes you are correct! I have covered this since in more recent videos. This one was filmed quite a while back now and I also no longer follow the curly girl method.

I see it's been awhile since you posted these videos, but I just found them. THANK YOU!! I always just tried product after product to condition my hair. I can't tell you how many products I went through! Of course, nothing worked. I finally decided to do research on why all those products aren't working. Now that I understand my hair and what I need to do, I'm ready to get started. You give me hope...a little dramatic, but I'm excited! I saw a post that instructed to use apple cider vinegar and warm water to remove build-up in my hair. Is this good information?

I’m one week into CGM. I’ve been using sulphate and silicone since my transition to natural hair. My hair is the worst it’s ever been now, my ringlets are not defined and it feel so dry, no shine at all and it’s hard to detangle 😭 I hope I can resist the temptation to go back to silicone! @hanzcurls4 жыл бұрын
Sulphate free cleanser is different to a conditioner. If I were to cleanse my hair with a conditioner that would be a “no poo” or “Cowash”. I use a low poo as these foam up slightly and I find they work better for my hair type. I’ve got more info in the blog post linked in the description bar x

hi i just know that we have to do our final sulphate shampoo before start with the cg method. but i have been a month using sulphate free paraben free shampoo. so do i have to turn back to the sulphate shampoo then later use the sulphate free? how do you mean by wash with sulphate shampoo? is it today do the final sulphate shampoo and the next day start use the sulphate free one? or is there any gap of days? sorry i’m still learning 🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️
@hanzcurls4 жыл бұрын
Hey! You should only need to do one final sulphate shampoo wash before starting with the sulphate free shampoo. So, just do the sulphate final wash, then the next time you wash your hair, start with the sulphate free shampoo. If you've been using a sulphate free shampoo for a month and didn't do a 'final wash', just see how your hair feels - does it feel like it has product buildup? The main reason for the final sulphate wash is to get rid of silicones and waxes and buildup that can't be removed with less harsh cleansers. If you hadn't been using products that contain those things prior to using the sulphate free shampoo, it shouldn't matter too much. Hope that answers your question? Some people like to do a 'clarifying' wash with a sulphate shampoo once a month or less to get rid of any buildup, too, but this is personal preference.

My daughter uses Maui moisture with good results. My curls prefer the Cantu line. I use their curl cream and curl jelly. Sometimes you have to try different brands and find the cgm (curly girl method) brand that works for your hair.

Jemgem x - Yeah that makes sense. I had very curly hair when I was little (at 6 years old). As I got older the curls went away so I was trying to get my natural curl pattern back with hair products. I feel like I’ve tried everything from diffusing, to using natural hair styling products & shampoos, to cutting out heat (I already do that😉), and nothing works. I have to do more research I guess🙈 I watch so many curly girl method videos, a few of them were people who had my hair type and got curls using the cgm and I don’t know how they got them! I am confused on where to start?!
