My outdoor run have improved since I started training on the assault runner treadmill. They’re really good for form, zone and speed training. The only time I jump on a motor treadmill is when I want to do an incline walk.

ground resistance places a big part in stride. i ran cross country and was taught that running on concrete exerts more energy than running on softer surfaces. less energy = shorter strides. those treadmills are primarily used for sprint training anyways hence it being self paced.

A roundabout has different distances based on the part of the circle. Outside would be longer than inside, so you dont even know if you are running a mile to begin with.

How are you getting such a fast mile running so slow? Is it your stride length?
@theegress31318 ай бұрын
Yes I’d say it’s accurate comparatively due to no turns/mid elevation changes, no need to slow down to be aware for cars or other runners and as you stated wind.
@jonlanier_9 ай бұрын
Wind resistance is negated, pavement friction is negated, and even though they are small, up and down hills.... all factor into the faster time.

Wind resistance? You mean you aren't moving, so there's no air movement to cool you down. And no, you actually sweat the same amount but you notice it more when staying essentially in the same spot. And as for the resistance of the air, it's negligible and really doesn't effect your speed unless you're running into a powerful head wind.

The treadmill is pushing your feet. On the road you are propelling your own weight. Try just letting the treadmill do a mile by itself without your weight slowing it down.. Treadmill may not be accurate but will obviously depend on the weight it's having to carry.
