You know what’s weird, my favorite truck is the Ford F150 Raptor… nothing looks better. I drove the let’s just say… nothing so good looking CyberTruck. I had to go test drive a Raptor again. Ford even let me keep it overnight. I needed a truck for various business needs. And occasionally, maybe once or twice a month I need to pull a trailer. From a practicality perspective, I was dumbfounded. I don’t understand why the cyber truck does truck things better than the Ford F150 Raptor. So yeah, I bought a cyber truck. I drive it daily (for a little over a month). I’ve pulled a trailer 5 times in that time. The Ford guy asked me why I didn’t get the Raptor. I was blunt and honest. I told him that for my business ultimately it came down to function and price over emotion. Emotionally I want😢the gorgeous Raptor. But waking up to a full charge, cheaper Electricity costs, no maintenance, and a more durable product was the better business decision… He disagreed, but we’ll see in 5 more months. I will say this. The CT is my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned. And my customers absolutely love it when I take them out to lunch or dinners.

@@bnd123us I 100% agree. The look of the Cybertruck has grown on me. I actually like it the way it looks. It’s weird, after the first week I compared it to a pug. How people say they are so ugly that they’re cute. But at certain angles, the cyber truck actually looks good. I still don’t like the way it looks from the back at certain angles. It just looks really weird. But I mainly bought it for work. But I’m starting to use it more and more for recreation as well.

I really like my '24 Model Y. The Cyber Truck is very nice if you can deal with the shape, but it is unique to be sure. At $100k it's a full pass for most folks to include me. It is an amazing first effort. For me, Elon needs to create a real truck in the size and price range of the Model Y. This would rock the pick up truck world and would sell amazing fast and consistent imo. I would vision something in the range of the Ford Maverick / Ranger platforms but no larger then the Ranger / Toyota Tacoma.

The wrap is nice. As a 64 year old who has owned trucks my whole life, I wish Tesla would have done a more conventional design. The tech like 48v & Ethernet harness, steer by wire, 4 wheel steering is really cool, but I wish it would have been done to something more conventional. By the way, I have a F350 Dually Regular cab 4x4, and it has an 8' box with #7100 lbs payload. The CT with the spare tire option and extender pack has only 1' box. The thing is great for mall trips, but long range towing is not an option.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great technology demonstrator. I have driven it and it is a home run. It's more like an El Camino with a back seat than a truck though. Make a cargo van version and I might have a use for it.

Uh a 50 cal will cut right through that, I would not advise testing that theory. If I understand the specs correctly this will stop medium to low velocity rounds so shooting it with a 45acp subsonic is something you could do but a 50cal is a different type of round all together.

Love the video! I like the innovation and that the concept became a reality, but small complaint, the prototype said like 400+ miles range for like 40k or something. I understand now that 40k is a bit unrealistic for what you are getting, but would have been incredible

I wanted a Cybertruck from day one, and still haven’t cancelled my reservation, but ultimately can’t fit a $100k vehicle into my budget. I sold my MYLR in August and got a Lightning Flash. The Tesla interface is so much better than the Ford’s. The F150 drives (not surprisingly) like a bulky, lumbering truck. The room and convenience is great in the Ford EV truck, and $55k vs $100k was a no brainer for me.

This gives consumer a chance to get a Cybertruck by de-risking obsolence due to bugs in the hardware and software. I would feel more comfortable buying the Cybertruck after 2 more years and leasing it now.

It'll be interesting if Tesla is able to get steer by wire in their other models soon, much like how the Model Y was the first Tesla to have a heat pump, which was quickly introduced into the other models shortly afterwards. Then a yoke would probably make more sense in the Model S/X when you don't need to do hand over hand motions to steer it.

10:55 "the steering is so good". What about the lag from steering wheel input to actual wheel movement? Don't take it through a car wash. CAUTION If washing in an automatic car wash, use touchless car washes only. These car washes have no parts (brushes, etc.) that touch the surfaces of Cybertruck. Some touchless car washes use caustic solutions that, over time, can cause discoloration of decorative exterior trim. Avoid exposure to soaps and chemicals above pH 13. If unsure, check the product label or ask the staff at the car wash. Damage caused by improper washing is not covered by the warranty.

I doubt anyone is going to take a cybertruck to a carwash.The wiper alone would be an issue besides the fact that Tesla warns against car washes. As for steering lag, it turns faster than if you had a traditional rack & pinion and you turned as fast as you can, so it's inpercetable.

The foundation series production was extended beyond the original plan in order to maximize profits. Eventually the lower cost versions will be coming out soon. Also the reduction in COGS will allow for a lower cost for the more expensive 3 motor version over the next 2 or 3 years. In other words the cost of the truck will come down but the margins will either remain the same or increase.

I heard it from many, as well as my own discovery, you don't need a PPF film on a cybertruck. Vinyl is perfectly fine, maybe just PPF in the front, but that is metal, not paint, no need to get PPF, save your money! I vinyl wrapped my cybertruck, PPF in front.

Hopefully they come out with EREV (extended range electric vehicle) trucks soon. These would be hybrids that largely focus on batteries and have plenty of power, like current EV trucks but the engine for charging batteries = PLENTY of towing range when you need to tow. That means full EV for day to day driving and just your couple times a month towing trips use an engine for as much range as you want.

I own a MYLR - the CT biggest miss was the range IMHO - I can appreciate a CT but it's too polarizing in design and I prefer the R1T :) Also they are selectively replacing front/rear motors on some cybertrucks voluntarily - WHY?

When the first iPhone was introduced, it was laughed at as being weird, "no keyboard!" as compared to all the flip phones made by Nokia, Samsung, and the like. Fast forward to today, every cell phone (except for the fold phones) look just like the original iPhone (bigger with smaller bezel). So we'll see how Cybetruck's design language will play out in a few more years.

that is more to do with manufacturers choosing to use proprietary computer / software components instead of general, widely used hardware. the power of hardware that computes and runs instructions from software to communicate with onboard hardware is legitimate and immensely valuable. Unfortunately its potential is being ruined by proprietary engineering practices everywhere. Cars are not the only victim of this..

Cybertruck can not take impact from "50 caliber bullets". Well, actually, if you had "50 caliber bullets", just the bullets, in your hand, and thew them at the Cybertruck, then yes. No problem. But firing 50 caliber rounds from a 50 caliber rifle, at the Cybertruck... no. It cannot withstand that. The steel would need to be 4+ inches thick 🤪
