Honestly, Indigo Prophecy is probably the most complicated Cage game to improve. Unlike Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human, all of which had decent enough premises to start with, this game's plot is broken right from the start. The only way to take Indigo Prophecy and make a coherent story out of it would be to rewrite the narrative from scratch. What do you guys think could fix it?

Me and my friend had a saying about it: ''Up to the middle of the game, is Fahrenheit. After that and shit just go fucking Saints Row 4 insane, it becomes Indigo Prophecy.'' I'll play it from time to time (Of course i download a save so i don't have to deal with any bullshit) and just play some stages to have a laugh. Special shoutout for the soundtrack that's the most ecletic thing i've seen. It goes from hard rock Theory of a Deadman to Soul/R&B Ben E. King. Mh, to be honest, I had no problem with the beginning segment of Heavy Rain or any of those "boring" moments. I actually found them rather sweet and a nice break from Cage's usual convoluted bullshit. You spend some nice time with your kids, have a sweet bit where you can just get the fuzzies. "Relaxing" would be term I'd rather use than "boring". For something to be "boring" you'd need to have the expectation of getting something thrilling and then not receiving it, but Heavy Rain (at least during those early segments) wasn't exactly advertised to be particularly "exciting" or "thrilling". I know Cage does bullshit, but in that particular area I gotta say that you can't really fault him. I found those quiet and calm scenes infinitely more engaging than whatever came afterward, precisely because it was so mundane. On the other hand, I play walking simulators like Proteus and Kairo, and spend most of my time in most games just dazing off and wandering around, doing nothing. So maybe I have a skewed perspective. That being said, most of the other criticisms I find completely valid (especially the ones concerning convoluted storytelling, break-neck pacing, and of course those horrible rape undertones). I only disagree with the parts you called "boring".

Just to clear something up to you guys, Nahmen's "drug problem" is related to his overusage of his ARI glasses. Whenever Nahmen finishes using his ARI and starts turning into a blood fountain for whatever reason, his vials of triptocaine helps ease that problem. In one of Nahmen's bad endings, he ends up OD'ing on the blue powder, killing him. Again, it's a pretty alright idea, it could've opened for some interesting situations, had it been used correctly _and_ at more suitable points in the story. Instead, it only happens like, 2 or 3 times where Nahmen isn't in a crucial situation whatsoever, and it has no overall effect on the rest of the story.
@vinnysuperg1236 жыл бұрын
Our main point of hammering that home was how each of the major characters had quirks that only showed up when the story needed it to, and then was instantly forgotten. You have Ethans black out problem, Nahmans drug issue, and Shelby's asthma. All three of those flaws are only in there to add "drama" but it felt so unneeded and forced. If only Nahman had the issue with the drugs, then I wouldn't really have too big an issue with it. It all just felt so forced with EVERYONE having these issues that would just be dropped in the next scene.

FUCKING. SENSE. The worst plot twist I have ever experienced. But even that isn't my biggest problem with Heavy Rain. My biggest issue is how Cage desperately tries to create an emotional and captivating story (to show us that games can be art) and fails at it. Not because of some plotholes or such things but because every second of the game you are aware of what he is trying to accomplish (with a sledgehammer). I never played any of them, but those Telltale games never seemed to be as pretentious as Cage's games in that regard. Sometimes it feels as if people like Cage couldn't make it as movie directors and went to games instead. I don't even really consider these types of games as games but rather as interactive movies if anything. And now I am in a dilemma. I haven't played Beyond Two Souls. Do I watch the next video or not? Who am I kidding. I'll never play Beyond (most probably). I'll probably not enjoy it quite as much, but it'll be the video then 😉

Why the fuck are Quantic Dreams Games so hyped and loved??? Do people really let themselves deceive that easily by some crying characters and "cineastic" Camera moments? WTF

And another thing: David Cage doesn’t have the DEEPEST stories, by any stretch... (That honor belongs to Kojima, unless you guys have any takers. ;)

This is really hillarios. I really love this video. Hopefully you don't minde me, making some notes up: 10:20 It is possible, that you play the lady and she tells black guy what to do. 11:30 He doesn't decide to play the hide-and-seek-Game with them. He declined and then had a vision. 25:20 He's no lieutenant, but a captain. Karla is a lieutenant 29:35 He is no "other fucking Maya dude" but the oracle (but you're refering to the Professor, who probably is not born 1969, because he would be 36 30:00 You can't just say, it is completly coincidential, that he has the powers and was possesd by him, the oracle. Becaus of his chroma, he didn't went insane like other people tent to do. Because of this we play Luke Cage and not the laundry guy. It's like saying, it's completely coincidental, that I watch your video in october. Wait, what, really? Unbealivable!

Yeah, you can't immeditley guess where Shaun is as it can be either Franklin or Theodoore and even then you have to guess if it's lane or road. It does, however, make me question, "Why the fuck are there so many things named after Franklin and Theodoore Roosevelt?".

Indigo Prophecy was baffling to me, because prior to playing it, I didn't know you could make a game like that and upon finishing it, wondered why anyone ever would. It was such a bizarre experience. During Covid, I ended up going through a bit of my gaming backlog, and chose Heavy Rain. By that time, it had been out for more than a decade, I'm pretty sure. Once again, I was truly baffled, but this time, because of the accolades this fucking thing had rang up. I straight up wonder if anyone played the same fucking game I did. I thought it was awful in just about every objective, quantifiable measure. David Cage strikes me as the kind of guy who masturbates to his own ideas.

II cannot overstate it. If you want to see this game without playing it. Then I highly recommend watching Super Best Friends playthrough of all his games . I normally watch them inn order of release date. Except for Omikron the nomad soul. I highly recommend that being the finale game you watch them play. It's so bad, yet so good to watch. The fact that they David Bowie to not only do the music, but also voice act as a specially made character that is integral to thee story.

I just realized what David cages writing reminds me of. AI dungeon. He uses the same transitions. You need to change the scene or move the plot forward? How about have them character black out and wake up somewhere new or unrelated. It’s like a slightly refined version of an AI.

Ai dungeon also often switches your perspectives to new characters without warning.

It seems this entire comment section is sucking the ass cheek out of everything these guys are saying. A lot of his older games like Heavy Rain aren’t that good, their weird, sad and the graphics suck like old RE games. Which is expected, but now we live in a day and age were graphics look realistic (which is so much better). I’ll even say, the weird sexualization of women in his games makes me skeptical of shit maybe he has done or wants to do to women... it’s 2020 and anything can be called out now, but that’s not my point. Not accusing, just noticing. Games are also now based on the choices you make, which speaks volumes on some of y’all’s moralistic values. Detroit Become Human is his best game he’s ever made which details a future that isn’t too far off based for us in the day and age we live in. He practically created the choice based mechanics. My point is at least give him credit without having to shit on his own work.

I love this comment for many reasons. First off, sucking the ass cheek is an insult Im going to steal now and I thank you for that. It is really strange that you begin this defense of David Cage by saying his old games "aren't that good" and then also imply that David Cage is a sexual deviant towards women. Im kind of confused what you were even trying to imply by saying that. Detriot Become Human is without a doubt his best game, but thats not saying much. It is still incredibly derivative, downright plagiarism at times, and has some of the most insultingly dumbed down moral themes I have seen from a story driven games. Sure, having a lot of moral choices is an impressive feat of the game, but it does not excuse just how lackluster that game's writing is. Also, he didn't create choice based mechanics or even popularize them. That shit was popular going all the way back to the early 90s and its embarrassing to think that David Cage "created" it.
@deftonersonalex2 жыл бұрын
He created choices based mechanic? are you kidding? Fallout 1 in 97 did choices that matters to the plot, IN 1997!!!
