...pfff, I was relieved when you finally arrived there and also got your luggage back... a problem I had not to face, as I never sent it or booked my bed ahead, and I had enough slack on my arrival date in Santiago - such a privilege... however: I did get a solid 2-weeks heavy rain in May/June, and the walking paths turned into a complete mess, and the soil was sticking to my walking boots, and my rain gear was as insufficient as yours - not fun!!! The lack of sleep due to busy albergues (I stayed every single night in one) I made up with shorter walking times, arriving already approx. 2-3pm at my destinations, and after showering & washing I had a good siesta which balanced it always nicely :) You keep up a good-spirited face, Olive, but I can see, that the rain is getting at you... now: Galicia is as much the promised land for dry & warm weather, as Ireland is... lets see how it continues... 😎🌈🌧

The first day across the Pyrenees was likely harder...but remember, you are also stronger now, so big hills don't seem as hard

I climbed the hill to O’Cebreiro in the same kind of mud. It was not fun. I thought I was going to “face plant” myself several times in the mud. Buen Camino

Yeah, it's one of those moments when the actual fun is in looking back and realizing you made it through! 😁 Hope the rest of your journey was smoother. Buen Camino! 🌄

Unfortunately North Western Spain has weather like the UK, even in summer, sun and rain.

I definitely underestimated the amount of rain! 😔I anticipated more on-and-off showers rather than the non-stop rain I experienced for many consecutive days. Better rain protection would have helped, but I underestimated that too. Lesson learned! 😆☔
