You've gone from complete unknown (to me) to my favourite KZbin channel in just a few short days. Please keep these videos coming. You must be powerliftings best kept secret?

haha. Just so you know, nearly everybody in the industry knows who I am... but outside that my audience hasn't been broad and has only started growing recently. But lots of top coaches and athletes have sought my advice for a long time when they've needed it.

***** Did you do any spinal decompression or do you use any protocols as such? (I feel like it is somewhat relevant as you mentioned you had issues with your back) I am have a bulging disk and I am hanging upside down a few times a week. I am wondering if you ever dealt with such injury.

Chris! You dog! Haha! Awesome story. Took it into my session and got a 2 PRs . 435 for 3, it felt good and 445. Previous session was 430. I cued in on the deep spinal stabilization, got tight and blasted off. Nice speed off of the floor and no hitch to be seen.

That means a ton to me, Chris. I am the guy who wrote to you about losing fat and making gains and you hipped me up to The Iron Addicts Principles of Fat Loss about a week ago. I have been reading the articles and there is some great stuff there. You advised me to ease up on the drastic fat loss because I may head into a metabolic rebound. I have decided to up my calories because I want to get there slowly but surely. Still eating 55/35/15 protein/carbs/fat, but going from a 2800 cal/day to a 3800 cal/day. My deadlift has gone up my bench is ready to shoot up because I am not hunting a PR. I am mastering my form and playing with the grip and doing lots of perfect form reps at challenging weights that build my incline, bench, tris, bis, shoulders, traps, core. I am doing my planks everyday and besting my times the best I can. But here is my HUGE ISSUE... 4 weeks ago, I hit a PR in the squat. 425 for a single. But since then I have felt unsure of myself, and uncomfortable, and just not right when I get I to the 400's. I planned on working up to 365 today and hitting three sets of 8 and then down to 315 for 2 sets of 12, and then 3 sets of 275 for 20. But this was too ambitious. How is it that my deadlift is climbing and my squat is going backwards at light speed. Need Es to say, I did it ego-lift today. I didn't do all that volume and I finished the basic flight plan, but the nubers and sets were much lower. I am not going to be crying to you all the time, and I appreciate hearing for you, you have no idea how cool it is that you take the time to school a newbie like me. But I have only been lifting for two months. Period. I'm 41, and I was a fat drunken chef with no will to live. Now I am in live with the iron and as sober as the day I was born. Have been now for a little over a year. I need to get past this frustrating rut I am in and sack up on the squat. However when the weight is on the bat and waiting for me to bend my knees at the 385/400 mark, my va Jay Jay tells me to chill out. Is this common?

Too many reps!! 5's then 3's then 2's! Look at Mark Rippetoes stuff.

I was doing something with my (conventional) deadlift where my hips shot up slightly at the beginning, so I tried doing the Rippetoe thing so that I did a smooth pull from a standstill, but I felt significantly weaker. Later, I watched this video and your stuff on core bracing, so I tried focusing instead on getting that torso as compressed and locked in as possible. Lo and behold, it was my old technique, which I was doing because it's easier to get tight from lower than my "optimal" pulling position.
@ryann834810 жыл бұрын
It was a good realization. I'm giving the "Olympic" set up a try, starting squatted down, setting my core there, then coming up to the pulling position.

Chris do you think the intence corebracing is what makes your bloodvesles in your head explode? and is this why you look like you are about to pass out after a heavy set of deads? is it normal to feel like your head is about to explode?

Great video! Amazing bump in weight Chris, the stuff of legend! Was that pulling conventional or sumo? I've been looking at your videos and it's solid stuff. I'm trying to adopt your ideas on hand positioning and pulling the rib cage down to support the T-spine when squatting, and I've got to say that despite having not so great a day at the gym 2 days ago, the difference from using those techniques was immediately noticeable and shocking quite frankly! Definitely will be practicing the technique. Is it possible for you to do a video about how to integrate this technique, or cues that can be used to integrate those techniques into the conventional deadlift? Also, I was wondering what movements you recommend for lat development? I use the pendlay row and neutral grip pull-ups currently for overall back development.
