I was born on November 28, 1984 22 days after he was reelected by one of the largest margins in history, I remember my Grandmother speaking very highly of him, In fact during her Lifetime Reagan was her favorite President with FDR, Eisenhower, and Kennedy being close seconds, When he died on June 5, 2004 I gave my Grandmother a phone call to give her my condolences knowing how She felt about him and She reassured me that she was okay and told me that it was very thoughtful, Furthermore she told me that November of 1984 because of his reelection and my birth was one of the happiest times of her Life, When She Passed away 11 years later on July 11, 2015 at the age of 88 I thought about that conversation we had and my conclusion on President Reagan was he was a great leader who inspired the most positive attributes of Humanity such as unity, humor, dignity, and dedication, Rest in Peace Mr. President and Grandma.

@WessexFox99 I think the 80s are already looked at that way, mostly favorably. When we see the movies and other film clips of the day or sporting events, newscasts, etc, it sometimes may look ancient but of course it really isn't. Things just evolve and changes result, some for the good and some that are not so good. I'm glad I'm not in my 20s or 30s now days. The 2020s aren't starting off very well and Lord knows what the 2030s will be like. I agree on the lousy pop culture and try my best to ignore it.

I grew up with Reagan as President, and his passing, although we all saw it coming, was still very sad to me. He, to me in my childhood, almost struck me as another grandfather, only he would visit us through the television screen. Regardless of what he did as President or what you may think of him now, I will always have fond memories of that man. I watched his funeral and I admit, I shed some tears.

I was there for it all-the glorious Inaugural in 1981, the assassination attempt, the economic recovery of 1983-1984, Iran-Contra, the farewell address in 1989, his appearance at the RNC in 1992, and the letter he wrote in 1994. I even attended a memorial service held in my town for Mr. Reagan. President Reagan remarked in his first Inaugural Address that people who think that there are no more heroes "just don't know where to look." The real hero of them all, indeed, was the man who gave that address-Ronald Wilson Reagan. As I write these words, it is over thirteen and one-half years since Mr. Reagan's passing. But he will be as prominent a human being 13,000 years from now as he was in the 1980s. The world lost a wonderful human being in 2004, but Heaven gained its most wonderful angel. Rest in Peace, Mr. President.

More than anything that should be remembered from this man is that sunny optimism, that bright disposition no matter what he faced, yet not being naive and afraid to act, and when acting, acting with cold and exacting force. The man exemplifies the American Idea more than any one of us alive has ever known.

@Marksnotebook It was on a comprehensive short list I had composed after a year of debates behind doors with my most senior writers. The list was then analyzed, deconstructed, reconstructed, and organized in alphabetical order. After more debate about which kind of comedy is better, banter, slapstick, or wisecrack, option 1 and 4 on the short list were decided on as the most applicable to current comedy trends. We then introduced both into a bicameral comedy committee, and option 4 was passed.

@ChrisDutch YES Reagan created 22 million new jobs with his tax cuts, productive economic growth and cutting of spending and the collapse of the Soviet Union...before Reagan 21 percent interest rates...after Reagan 10 percent interest rates...before Reagan 8.5 percent unemployment...after Reagan 4.5 percent unemployment...don't forget he allowed heirs to receive more money from their parents without being taxed. That effects the people who pay taxes. Left office with a 65 % approval.

The most endangered national park is now Mt. Rushmore, which Republicans have talked about for years as a fitting memorial to their beloved hero. There’s also been a continual cry to put Reagan’s image on our currency, which so far has been thwarted. If he deserves to be anywhere it should be on the hundred dollar bill, reminding Americans that the hundred dollar bill is the new ten dollar one.
