I'm glad you talked about Rise of Lyric's almost heartbreaking development history. I don't see a lot of people consider it, and they throw BRB under the bus, when in reality, they're fantastic developers for even getting the game to run. I wonder if the Avatar in Sonic Forces was originally supposed to be Boom Sonic?

I can excuse the buggyness of the game seeing how Sega's deal with Nintendo screwed them over. But I cannot excuse the abysmal portrayal of these characters. SEGA was wise to keep the Boom initiative a singular branch of the western Sonic brand. I do believe that their original plan was to hard-reboot the Sonic brand after Sonic 06’s release.

What I *meant* to say was that after Sonic 06’s critical failure, SEGA may have searched for western studios to revitalize the Sonic IP. Sonic Colors may have been the Sonic Team’s last chance from SEGA, and when that game succeeded, SEGA altered their plan to make the Boom initiative a facet of the western Sonic brand that capitalizes on the IP’s newfound credibility.

I really did not enjoy this series, what they did to Knuckles hurt my feelings as they basically destroyed his brain cells in favor of making jokes. Amy is just annoying, she was in the original but they didn't fix it, and Sticks was useless. My little brother and I have made the joke that this isn't Knuckles, it's Knuckles (Pronounced Kuh-Nuckles) who is Knuckles' much dumber cousin.

Amy was even more annoying than boom amy cause She keeps insisting and insisting that she wants sonic to marry her when sonic doesn't want to cause (being married isn't who sonic is cause sonic is more about being free and living his life to the fullest and amy doesn't understand that) and she is just a straight out psycho example: sonic X, when sonic was doing something she didn't care cause she just wanted to go out on their date and when sonic was late she went nuts really bad in fact (I actually enjoyed the scene when sonic just let's her fall to go on the race he would go to it was enjoyable to watch her get yeeted) and the fact that she is younger than sonic makes it even more weird

The existence of Sonic Boom really just highlights the issue that Sega has no clue what to do with the characters themselves, they clearly want Sonic to just be a mascot character ala Mickey Mouse but they keep insisting to give him more to do and flesh him out, it's like Sega's fighting itself on the matter, it also doesn't help that they have insisted mandates on what writers can or can't do with the character (i.e. show extreme emotions) which is utter bull, you're not going to make Sonic appealing this way Sega, you're stripping him away of any unique character whatsoever.

The saddest thing about Sonic Boom's failure is that it happens to share many aspects with the adventure games. Hub worlds, multiple characters, focus on a grand story, non-robotnik villain... And knowing Sega, bc Boom failed they'll probs be like "WELL, NOW WE'RE GONNA ONLY PLAY AS SONIC FOREVER AND HAVE LINEAR LEVELS WITH NO STORY, AND A RE-USED FINAL BOSS FROM COLOURS." Like they did after 06. Even though... those weren't the issues with Boom or 06. *sigh*

Looking back, Sonic Boom reminds me a bit of another alternate universe of another blue hero: the RPG Mega Man universe. The redesigns were more than just accesories and a slight height change when comparing Rock and X to EXE and Geo, the gameplay were also significantly altered with a full on genre shift from platformer to RPG and the concepts for the protagonists were not the ol' advanced robot: EXE was a child turned into a program and Geo is a hero who uses the power of an alien. The difference, of course, is that the RPG Mega Man world lasted for longer and was (at least arguably) more succesful.

I played the game recently, and aside from the boring combat and the gameplay not having anything to do with the traditional Sonic experience we are used to, I think it's a decent game. It's lika a LEGO or other platformers. I think this game was treated like a total trash because it was released broken, but later they released updates that fixed all the glitches. The game still have performance issues, but it's not broken at all anyomore.

Didn’t mind the redesign’s (even Knuckles but a litting jarring with his head being a bit smaller). The sport-tapes I feel like makes the designs (mostly Sonic & Knuckles) a bit messy, well for the arms and legs. Sonic’s arms I don’t mind but just simply prefer tan arms just cause. I now feel like Shadow, Metal Sonic and Vector shouldn’t be here cause it should be it’s own thing. Sonic Boom franchies should have it’s own lore and such and no Chaos Emeralds or Sol Emeralds (how’d you call it?). The series works as a comedy as it succeeds at that. The cartoon series is at best okay imo.

Dude, what are you talking about? Fleshing out characters? You're joking, right? This portrayal of the characters is a bastardization of the originals, done by people who knows next to nothing about these characters. I'm saying "next to nothing" because they obviously know about the stupid meme that Sonic has become. It's an embarrassment and an insult to both the series and the fans. I'm really glad this garbage flopped, because I'd hate for the series to continue down this joke of a path. It's bad enough that the two !dl0t writers are turning the series into brain dead jokes that even 5 year olds cringe at; no need for Big Red Button to accelerate that process. @@ChannelPup That is not an argument. It's about a blue cartoon hedgehog that runs fast, of course it's not Legacy of Kain levels of writing. But they used to have more respect for the series. I'll direct you towards Ruby of Blue and his overview of the series and JebTube's "Farewell, Sonic... Forever?" video. You don't have to agree with them, but it'll still be an interesting watch and their points make sense.
